Random Discussion / Can we cut a bit the 'bit' overuse?
« on: September 30, 2014, 12:47:03 pm »
Everything seems to be bit-something these days... Bitcoin, Bitshares and bitAssets is just the beginning....

Every day more New Bits are coming, pun intended....

Or is this only bothering me?

This is partly in response to the following conversation (which starts here https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=9464.msg123288#msg123288) I had with bitmeat.

So generally, I suck because I answered 4 of his question (albeit jokingly) and Agent86 answered only 1 of them but politely.

It does not matter that A86 is the mastermind behind this new short market rules. It does not matter that I have managed to collect like 85% of the answer HOW those market rules work. I have done that through scraping through post partly relate/explaining said rules and through tests in the BTSX client. Test that as we speak have left  non-cancelable orders, orders stretching not only in one market, but appearing in several (bitUSD/BTSX and bitBTC/bitUSD in that case).

But the person who designed those market changes, the person who knows 100% of not only HOW but also WHY those market rules work, as well as what are the benefits from them cares to politely answer just one question (from time to time) when several questions are asked. Requests for explanation of those rules have been plenty – in posts and even entire threads have been dedicated to  that! But the only person that knows the real answers (other than the developers themselves, but we all know they have more work than humanly possible to handle) does not care to post them.
But for that I suck and he does not!

I also suck because before giving the right answers to bitmeat, I have to dig out what the problem of mf-tzo was regarding his short orders. https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=9361.msg123205#msg123205 The usually helpful xeroc was on the wrong path regarding the issue… the reason for that – nobody has written straight all the new rules regarding shorting. So, your rule digging, just 85% sure about those rules, in house sucker, had to help the guy.
But for that I suck and the above it all politely answering from time to time, masterminds of those rules does not!

Cheers!

Short collateralization graph coming to a vault near you   :)

No issues, so far with  - x86 exe on win7/32bit.
...Other than about 20-30K BTSX missing -I will have to figure out from what kind of transaction(s).

...It seems fine doing the basic mental calculation, just the collateral is no longer available in the GUI...

51
1. Cons - all the risk inherent for user issued asset.

2. Pros - the basic 'fund' - short USD is much easier/convenient for users that do not want to get too involved. Instead of shorting USD you just buy the fund and if BTSX goes up you sell its shares back to the issuer... easy as pie...

Those fund should be acting like an open-end funds, i.e. offering to buy back all issued shares, at least several times a day (if not at all times) with say 0.25% cut on the actual reference price...

What is your thoughts in the potential interest demand for such user issued assets?

General Discussion / Where to start in true economics.
« on: September 13, 2014, 06:58:28 pm »
I re-listened part of the last dev. hangout. I am usually at work during those, so I miss random parts of them in the life feed.
There was a question 'Where Dan learned Economics?' And while I have no idea what the answer to that particular question is, I thought I can post the:

First ever book in economics, one should read - OMHO only,of course.

It is not only a great book - it is also a book that is writhen by someone who is mainly a writer/journalist not an economist - so it is 'easy' and fun read...

Prices starting at $1.41 (no bitUSD accepted, as of yet, subject to change, soon)

General Discussion / Ask me anything, do not expect any answers!

To prevent imminent dilation of my post, I have decide to waist another thread in the 'General Discussion' instead of posting  in the Music sub-forum.

I think the name of this thread: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=8652.0
should be changed to 'Ask me anything, do not expect any answers'.

The need for this is increasing with every passing minute, imho....

1)The only real 'true arbitrage' opportunity is between bitAsset A and bitAseet B. We need inter asset trading ASAP. This will not solve all problems but will help immensely.
And arbitrage is what makes markets work in the short run.

2)@ gamey and all others.
You know I get easily annoyed by stupidity. And I am as annoyed as it gets, but the  only way to 'ignore' somebody is to just do that. Just stop responding to ANY post by this clown, everybody.

3) To all free market proponents - I am the biggest proponent of free unhindered markets. BM has similar free market  views. The first chance we get we will move in that direction. In the mean time let's try to really secure a market that can be moved in that direction.  And yes, I do truly believe the BTSX cap will be bigger the closer we get to free, no restriction market. But that only if we have a market (peg) that works.

4) The new 0.4.11 works fine on Ubuntu for me so far.

General Discussion / Can I have 0.4.8-c ,Please!
« on: August 29, 2014, 07:05:18 am »
Can I have 0.4.8 - c? (generally 0.4.8 working with the fork, and having the correct market engine)

Why? Before 0.4.9, I had  no severe problems.
0.4.9 has no improvements GUI-wise (all the non working stuff is still there). The only difference I saw was that 0.4.9 was the first version that never managed to sync form me. And with 0.4.9-a I send so many 'Error Reports" that I am certain, twice as bigger team as 3I has, will spend all of their 16h work days just reading them.

All of the above stuff on windows 7.

And now totally committed to only run the client on linux... the
