General Discussion / Creating a "Savings" tab or wallet in the Exchange?
« on: October 03, 2014, 04:13:16 pm »
Just wondering if this is something that people would be interested.

Would it be possible to create separate addresses named "savings" and "checking" or "spending" for both btsx and bitUSD or other assets?
I know it's not necessary in reality because it can be done just by me holding my bitUSD which is fine, but to appeal to the familiar it might be helpful?

I find it easier for me to be trading bitUSD because it's not in a dedicated section called "savings". Maybe it's just for me a psychological weakness?

Is this something others would be interested in and are there other things you'd like to see added as it is Bitshares X the Bank and Exchange.

On the chart "Volume BitUSD" what is the "Price Feed" ? When it's sitting between the buy bitUSD and sell bitUSD does that mean it's at the price it should be when it's sitting in the sell bitUSD does that mean that bitUSD is currently trading under what it should?

General Discussion / Re: Next Snapshot

I'm glad I asked.  I will move it asap.

Thanks

I think bter said they will be honoring the PTS held on the exchange for the snapshot so you may not have to move them to your wallet.

..I think.

Yes... it was a huge joke... to highlight both how easy it would be to do and how clearly it is a ponzi.

Though in a world that was more open minded and less prone to mud slinging it would be "fun" as a game only...  clearly not a solid business plan given the nature of the world we live in.

We will follow you...but not blindly bytemaster!

Welcome to BitShares, Rune! The longer you stick around here, the more you learn to trust these folks who are developing the BitShares DACs. They are good people; it's almost like the old days of a family business, but one where the full community is honored and incorporated into the decision-making as well as they possibly can be. I will wait for someone with more specific information to answer your questions. All I will add is that I was skeptical at first of putting great trust in one team with such an ambitious vision, but they are solidly putting it into practice before our eyes while listening and incorporating community feedback.

Since I first looked into BitShares, I have gradually increased my trust in it, so much so that I no longer hold any Bitcoin or other crypto coins. There is nothing else out there with this kind of promise, both in terms of its ability to make positive change in the world AND solidly reward its believers. Dan Larimer is a freaking genius. This is a grand experiment and there are no guarantees, but if it works as well as I and others believe it will work, then Dan Larimer and his team will go down in history. I have never seen someone who is so universally respected as a highly skilled programmer who also has a nearly all-encompassing understanding of the economics involved. Plus, he's pretty savvy at spotting business trends and he's able to surround himself with people who complement his understanding, trusting in their contributions as well. And if he got hit by a bus tomorrow (which I hope never happens), this technology has been birthed on the blockchain with plenty of smart developers able to continue it...much bigger than any one person now. You've come to the right place!

Not sure if I'm doing this correctly, but I think some input could be given here as bitshares is brought up...

Is it just the volume off of bter.com?
Doesn't include volume through bitshares x client.

I thought TITAN basically keeps my business personal and whether I trade bitGold or BitWhatever is hidden from view from everyone?

General Discussion / Re: Your other crypto investments

I have already checked threads of the sort on bitcointalk but it's more of a war between fanboys than anything else and I think we can have some interesting answers here, where people can have actual discussions

I'm always curious about new cryptos but to be honest,  I don't see anything worth investing at the moment. Could you share what other coins you think are worth something and why?

At the moment I'm all in on BitShares but it's always good to have other options and i'm always eager to hear about something new and with potential!

I was in lots of different alts, jumping from one to the next all the while it was Bitshares that kept me excited.

I bought into the simcoin ipo and sold on the https://simxchg.com/index.php but it's been pretty slow development by just one person (I think)
Mined BitcoinDark but sold pretty much at the last peak which has been my best investment so far but I'm pretty wary about it nowadays as it was rumored JL777 worked on things and never finished them and I feel as if this is what has happened to BTCD.
Bought into the bitcoinPlus ipo and watched it explode and implode without selling, eventually losing on that.
Started my crypto journey with Doge in January before the two big pumps.

Right now I am 100% in on the bitshares X platform and I feel really confident in it, more than I ever did in bitcoin.

Edit: My neo & bee investment did NOT work out either.

If Reddit was to use the BTS platform, would it simply be a new asset on BTSX? Or would they need an entire DAC?

What is the goal of the currency?

From what I understand it's to raise funds: "the idea of being able to distribute ownership of reddit back to the community" -yishan (CEO of Reddit : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yishan_Wong)

Technical Support / Re: How to profit from Music DAC Snapshot
« on: September 29, 2014, 05:18:11 pm »
Is anyone interested in posting about the Music DAC snapshot in the music forum of reddit? Might be a good place to push it?

Also, is there any plans for contacting actual bands? I have a personal relationship with the singer of a band that has sold over 500,000 records but I don't want to say anything until this is really solid. He also seems like the type of person who may be on board with this and has a huge connection to many many many other bands. If you're aged 18-35 in the USA you probably know this band.

General Discussion / Re: Bitshares Go
« on: September 29, 2014, 02:50:32 pm »
So after more and more thought on this, I think the leg work seems to have been done by Bitshares Music and after reading through some of Cob's writing I am totally impressed. I don't know how to start this up but I'd like to reach out to the community to see if anyone is interested in working on this?

Bitshares Go / Bitshares Ride or maybe Bitshares Scout (scout meaning talent cultivation) which would be the name of the DAC that is described in the title post of this thread.

It would work exactly like Bitshares Music but would be aimed at Extreme Sports and would provide a platform for those riders of the world who have no sponsorship. In my mind, this would work best with extreme sports as the path those athletes follow are completely different than traditional sports (for example: baseball, american football, soccer, hockey and other team oriented sports).

For action sports, all it tends to take for someone to become known worldwide is the upload of a youtube video (please see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z19zFlPah-o Danny Macaskill and his viral video of 2009 which led him to enormous ventures and sponsorship) and this is the nature of virality nowadays and applies to many elements of hobby life and music.

I'd really like to try to develop this idea more but I don't have the technical skills to work on this and I am reaching out to the community to see if anyone would like to work on this with me.

Thanks!
