General Discussion / Re: BitShares the Platform
« on: October 24, 2014, 02:03:03 pm »
...Only greater genius would be if someone had planned this from the beginning...to disguise the real plan... I'm willing to pretend that was the case!

That is exactly what I was thinking : )  so funny.

This is the real plan, to adapt & forge ahead, to find our way through the endless forest, for there is no road, there is only direction. The direction we maintain is forever forward.

General Discussion / Re: The NEW Bitshares PTS - superDAC slayer!
« on: October 24, 2014, 03:21:36 am »
I thought Bitshares is really well distributed both through AGS/PTS and also now via three months on exchanges?

I am unable to mine therefor POW won't be fair to me. I was able to purchase BTC and donate to the AGS fund though.

These are probably the most interesting and incredible podcasts "?" ever. Thank you for doing them and thank you to everyone who comes on and asks questions live and is interviewed. I love them.

Just to be clear, the snapshot is being taken from before the thread Bytemaster posted titled "Proposed Allocation for Merger" at a time of " October 21, 2014, 12:26:43 EST"?

If your DNS was on an exchange at that moment OR if your dns had yet to be claimed, then this fix will not apply.
If your DNS was in your wallet, then this will apply.

Correct? If not, what am I (are we) misunderstanding?

We don't want anyone to lose out, especially those who bought into the systems like DNS after launch.   Toast and I have been working on a solution that does not involve changing my proposal and upsetting the markets further.

Only ~10% of DNS has moved from the genesis block.  Prior to the 50% fall DNS had a market cap of $6.5 million (according to Toast) which means the total value of all DNS purchased prior to my proposal post was about $650,000.   After the post it lost 50% of its value causing some DNS fans to lose $325,000 while those that sold prior made $325,000.

We happen to own a large part of DNS through the PTS Angel address and this part that we own was in excess of 10% (haven't actually imported it yet)...  we will divide this fund among DNS holders outside the genesis block based upon a snapshot just prior to my post.

This allocation should not harm any other players other than us and should make everyone who purchased DNS whole.

There is no point in moving your funds from the genesis as a result of this post.

We would like to thank everyone in the community who supports our project and to show our commitment to make sure that you all are taken care of even if it comes at our own expense.

Once again.. this is not an obligation and we may change our mind on the details of this post.  I just wanted you to know the gist of what our plans are to make everyone as happy as possible.

General Discussion / DAC for crypto companies?
« on: October 22, 2014, 05:32:41 pm »
Does the cryptoworld need a Decentralized Repsoitory for Crypto Companies? A place where all information is written to the blockchain?

For example, your paperwork that is public is documented and stored on the blockchain as you become a company and register with whatever governmental authority?
This is a really vague idea, but just curious if this is something else worth looking into in the future. A way to organize everything on the public ledger.

This link to this video regarding the investigation of Moolah/Alex Green got my mind going on this....

Set to the time Chris begins talking about it.

The bottom symbol, I think it's the G clef? Would it be in your abilities to maybe create a new symbol of maybe a lower case "n" that looks similar? Something symbolizing a note?

I think the one I identify with most is actually the second from the top, but they're all great!

You act like being an early adopter is a privilege, that you deserve everything you can get your hands on. Let me tell you it is not. It is a gift, maybe the greatest gift anyone has ever received - and it is time that you take on the responsibility that goes along with it.

I think we are seeing "true colors" from a lot of people, out on display for all the community to see. Who can handle the intensity of the reality of what needs to be done? I am most impressed by the ones that haveaccepted this reality, even though it may have meant a temporary personal "loss". My observation is that those who hold most tightly to their "expectations", are the ones who cry the loudest when they find out the world does not revolve around them.
+5% +5%

I see people looking to pay for some of their unrealized expectations on top of what was a less than graceful week.
I saw DNS and bought at with the intention of holding for well over 1000 satoshi's and ended up loosing a fair amount of the value because of the postings, but I didn't put myself in a situation where I was gambling everything on DNS rising which I think other people may have. People who went all in on BTSX before the launch were risking quite a bit as well. Also, what happened after the launch of the exchange? Didn't BTSX fall below the price MOST if not ALL of the AGS/PTS pre feb 28 snapshot people paid for it? I believe it did and there was less of an outcry because I think no one knew what to expect and now all of a sudden many people feel entitled to value rather than understanding this is unpredictable and still in growing stages.

I'm proud to be a part of something that is changing, it feels like a young vibrant adaptive company, and that's what I believe in. Smart people making difficult decisions along an unpaved road.

General Discussion / Re: Clarification on Vesting

It is linear... each block you can unlock some small amount of shares... make a transaction with the "fee/share ratio is favorable".

Vesting only applies to VOTE + DNS + PTS + AGS.

There is some confusion over whether or not claiming your funds early results in losing everything else...

I think that you can claim them as they mature.... so after 1 year you are 50% liquid and 50% locked up.  After 2 years everyone should be able to claim 100% of their allocation.

This is a compromise on the liquidity proposition... the other idea would have incentivized people to hold on for 2 years to avoid losing anything.

In other words... everyone will eventually get 100% of their allocation.  No penalty for claiming your matured BTS.

Is the vesting curve continuous? I asked this somewhere else but my question got buried. So do I get 1/24 after the first month, 2/24 after the 2nd month, etc?

In my opinion, this would be a better way to go about this as anyone looking to "get out" would sell sometime after the date the funds are "released" with smaller sell pressure rather than every 6 months or year, which would have a big incoming dump with a known date. If I knew that on Nov 1st, my funds and everyone's funds would be released for the first time in 6 months and I want out, everyone would sell...on the flip side, if I held something I knew people would be dumping into for the first time in 6 months, I would sell off before that date then buy in at the dip, effectively scalping some of the cost. Ideally, it would be a daily release of whatever percent that may have a constant pressure the market could get acclimated to....this is all speculation though as people may be interested in just holding like me :)

Vesting does not count for BTSX.

Thanks, is total supply moving from 2B?
Also who is the biggest winner from this merge? It seems to me BTSX, am I right of wrong?

Thanks

In time, everyone.

General Discussion / Re: IMPORTANT: BTS Merger (Poll)
« on: October 21, 2014, 04:01:30 pm »
When i first bought into the idea of bitshares I thought it was basically what is being described now - a super ecosystem of core technologies for developers to launch DACs.  Then i came to see how thats not what it really was and while I did not sale or anything, because I really like a lot of the ideas behind DACs, it was disappointing to see how all these core technologies were being used basically as separate alt coins that you had to individually invest in.

So i am in favor of a Super Dac with core technologies included that other DACs can take advantage of.  If that's whats being described and I think it is...

I think I had a similar idea as well when I first invested in AGS.
I felt as if I was donating a percentage of my holdings in BTC to help fund the future of crypto and a new experiment that may fail.
I felt better investing into AGS than I ever felt basically donating to some scams I've lost money on because of no due diligence, and after months, 3/4ths of a year of reading bytemaster, stan, toast, etc.etc.etc.'s writings, I am so confident in this system, the community, and those driving the vehicle, I am happy to have donated and received what I have already have.
