General Discussion / Re: How much is a new user worth?
« on: October 04, 2014, 03:21:02 pm »There are two issues at play here:
1) Should we issue more shares to fund marketing.
2) Is a $100 debit card bonus a worthwhile use of capital.
I see a lot of discussion on the merits of issuing new shares but almost nothing related to #2.
In my opinion, for 100.00 free dollars, the need to put in 1000.00 is just barely worth it for something new and unheard of and I'm not even positive as I am biased in that I am a bitshares fanboy.
If it were 10 free dollars for 100.00, I don't think it has my attention.

General Discussion / Re: Cryptsy feels bad about missing snapshot; really likes BitShares
« on: October 04, 2014, 12:15:18 pm »From a BitcoinTalk thread earlier today:Quote from: BitJohn
The proto-shares Bitshares thing for us was a mess. I mean snapshots were a new concept at the time. Cryptsy was hit by the wall street journal article rush 5000 new customers a day at that time. Support was swamped we could not hire fast enough! When we were contacted the time frame to implement was just to short. The only fair thing we decided we could do was announce that we would not be participating and that folks would have to withdraw.
I finally met Daniel Larimer at inside Bitcoin in NY where he broke it all down and I expressed to him that if only we could have gotten together sooner...
So love the concept of Bitshares! But as you can see we have yet to add it as an option since we could not credit the customers from the first snapshot.
I mean should we at this point? I get requests for bitshares and all the variations we just have not felt right adding them after the missed snapshot.
*One additional note if your a developer to properly integrate a massive coin/wallet change and ensure security we need more than 24/48 hours.
Should we try to get them to add Bitshares?

I was successful in withdrawing 45 btc from them that wasn't mine.
Believe it or not I gave it back as I saw the troll box start getting filled with users saying their balance was negative.
They did pay a 4 btc reward to me so good on them there but I haven't used them since.

Had this problem earlier. Just want to bring it to attention if it's been missed. I'm not sure if it's important or not.

General Discussion / Re: Russia Proposes Monetary Penalties for Bitcoin Use and Promotion
« on: October 03, 2014, 11:01:58 pm »This sucks:
http://www.coindesk.com/russia-proposes-fines-bitcoin/QuoteThe two-page draft bill details a series of administrative fines to be imposed on both businesses and private citizens who issue, create or deliberately disseminate information about the release or operation of digital currencies, the language implying that the law would apply to much of the bitcoin industry, from bitcoin users to miners and service providers.
I wonder if in our case we could work around this law by explaining that its a crypto-equity, not a currency.
What is Russia so afraid of anyway? They are effectively banning anyone from programming a certain type of software. Talk about free speech.
Streisand effect.

General Discussion / Re: Help: insufficient relay fee
« on: October 03, 2014, 07:07:10 pm »
Not sure if this is a bug or not.
I restarted the client multiple times and eventually my sell showed up in the open sell bitusd orders where I was able to cancel it.
The insufficient relay fee disappeared and now is showing a date and time.

I have since rescanned the blockchain and it said "ok"
Then I did wallet_account_balance which had the correct btsx but the incorrect bitUSD balance (missing the amount I put up and is under the insufficient relay fee)
Then I put in wallet_get_pending_transaction_errors and got a whole big output which I can paste here if needed.

Has anyone received this message when putting bitUSD up for sale?
I tried to sell some above the market price and got "insufficient relay fee" under "date" in the overview and now the bitUSD is not showing in my account.
Thanks!
