General Discussion / Re: Where is BM?hide?
« on: March 25, 2015, 06:57:38 pm »
Thank you Dan. Please continue your work and know that there is a large community of supporters who share you vision. We also share your desire to see BTS become a wild success!

There will always be a vocal minority, and they have their own role to play. Onward and Upward!

All I know is, I'm even more fired up about BitShares after hearing why Charles Hoskinson left. I missed all of that in the early days.

Could you summarize his reason again?  I doubt he would EVER reveal the true reason he left.

CH said he was not interested in:

DACS
Volunteerism
Proving Austrian Economics

CH said he was more concerned with:

I3 Investors
Fiduciary Obligation
Growth
ROI

Quotes:

"The way Dan runs the company is that it is a referendum on his political philosophy."

"We're not here to prove Mises right or wrong, we are here to grow a company. So we kind of butt heads a lot and one of us had to go."

"By the way, Stan and Dan Larimer are some of the nicest people I have ever met in my life."

He went on to praise DPOS, bitUSD, DEX and paid delegates quite a bit.

If these points are in fact correct, I agree with CH on this. HIs focus is the more effective focus for the management of the organization in my opinion.    I don't know what happened personally, but professionally I was concerned for BSTX when he left.   He seemed to add a lot of solid business thinking,  structure and strategy to the organization which we are currently sorely lacking.    It seems like my concerns with his departure were quite well founded.

I'm by no means knowledgeable on CH or his achievements, but I do have the general impression that he becomes involved in the front end of projects but leaves prior to execution.

BTS is not unique in this regard, he did the same with ETH and some other platform.

I will certainly pay attention if CH ever sticks with a project through execution but in context I don't think his departure from BTS at the earliest stage of development has any real bearing on the viability of the platform.

if bts has a capable team, bts will have gone much far.
The biggest problem is too many ideas but only little execution.

EDIT:
I mean we need concern to finish the core things, no more new things before we stable the wallet and market tool.

This is exactly what is happening now.

Core devs have ceased design by consensus via the forums and are now focused on execution.

Anyone find it slightly odd that the top 10-15 coins crashed substantially and simultaneously, with one notable exception?

I've noticed, increasingly and only circumstantially, that there are times when all coins get hit and one gets pumped.

No evidence or data to back that, just an old trader that gets twigged every now and again looking at CMC.

Could be some Wall Street algos moving in?

I work every day from 8:30AM to 7PM along with 5 other developers to make BTS a success and that is just the developers.

No one has more to lose from BTS failing than me and when people like wings are upset because they gave money to support a vision that is harder than they thought to achieve.

If this were a "pump and dump" as wings has claimed then I would have sold when we hit $100M rather than held.

I am not going to give up and continue to fight and learn.

I think it would help a great deal if folks read this a few times before complaining about the devs...

I don't think you are going to have a year or two to accumulate.  Everything in crypto moves faster... either this ship is sailing and worth billions in 2 years, or its bouncing along the bottom and something superior has replaced it.

Yes, there is absolutely a scenario where BTS goes exponential once a minimum viable feature set and gateways are available.

However, I am betting that no 2.0 tech is really going to lift off until BTC goes through another market cap expansion into the $10k - $100k range.

BTC is being held back until the ETF and perhaps the NASDAQ folks get the pipeline opened up.

Once the next round of fiat value is converted to crypto the BTC wealthy will go hunting for the next hit - and some yield.

At that point BTS becomes the obvious choice - move BTC value back into stable assets (bitGold, bitUSD etc.) to store/preserve wealth... and earn yield while doing so.

It will be and explosive and revolutionary paradigm shift in global finance.

T-2y and counting...

At this stage I don't care about bugs tbh. wait until 1.0 and then start to riot :D

That being said, I will HODL BTS until a) I can quit my day job b) they're worthless and I try not to cry- cry a lot

Hodling to $1, divesting 25%, holding to $10, divesting 25%, holding to $100 divesting 25%.

The rest can go to my kids and grandkids.

Alternatively, hodling to $0 and divesting 0%...

General Discussion / Re: Mining BitGold and BitSilver?
« on: March 24, 2015, 03:19:45 pm »
This is a great idea and should be leveraged in a carefully planned marketing campaign to raise the visibility of the BTS platform.

Having bitGold and Gold be interchangeable through a slick interface (mine bitGold, exchange, get physical Gold mailed) would be groundbreaking.

Same for silver and other PMs.

Mine real Gold with Bitshares using your home computer!

慢慢等吧,这是一个折磨人的趋势,归零的可能,这东西有价值,可惜运作团队运作太烂,白死了

I actually do not think it has that much to do with the Team so much as the fact that they are fighting an uphill battle on every front.  Everyone in crypto seems to hate BitShares (because it threatens bitcoin on a protocol level). Additionally, the 3rd party development that Bitcoin appreciates is something Bitshares does not get.

People are so impatient...  :/

P.S.  That doesn't mean the team hasn't made its share of mistakes though!

This is BM's fault.I'm very angry for BTS Merger idea last year.

The merger was one of the best things to happen to BTS.

This is a long game, not a flash in the pan.

I fully understand a lot of folks are in the crypto space hoping to be the next BTC millionaire.

And I'm not saying it's not possible - but everyone needs to remember that the BTC millionaires held for nearly 5 years through massive market movements.

Anyone that holds BTS through the next 5 years has a fighting chance of creating significant wealth.

This platform is not going to make anyone rich in the next year or two; the next year or two is the accumulation phase for savvy investors.

Funny how folks are blind to the acceleration of the development cycle over the past month.

The community needs to realize the current level of interaction is both normal and healthy.

A weekly shareholder conference call and monthly newsletter is far more community interaction than the vast majority of start ups are willing to support.

I am very happy to see the core devs focused and making a hard push to 1.0.

As to the price of BTS, it's either an opportunity or a disaster. The difference is the amount of due diligence completed by the investor.

should be a medium term bottom here.

I agree, its likely. I just bought some BTS for the first time since bter went down.

But I think it will be a long slow sideways period before we go up much again.

I hope so, i want to accumulate some more.

Just buy some each week. Don't worry about entry price, drive yourself crazy.

Figure out how much you can invest, divide it by a year or two and DCA away.

I'm not sure how I screwed you...

By giving away my master plan!
I have been solely whaling this BTS drop with my 500+ million BTS!

If it weren't for that pesky Ander, it would have succeeded too... :(

How Ripple Rips you: "The founders of Ripple Labs created 100 billion XRP at Ripple's inception. No more can be created according to the rules of the Ripple protocol. Of the 100 billion created, 20 billion XRP were retained by the creators, seeders, venture capital companies and other founders. The remaining 80 billion were given to Ripple Labs. Ripple Labs intends to distribute and sell 55 of that 80 billion XRP to users and strategic partners. Ripple Labs also had a giveaway of under 200 million XRP (0.002% of all XRP) via World Community Grid that was later discontinued.[29] Ripple Labs will retain the remaining 25 billion"

The very very sad thing about all this is how many people I constantly watch in cryptocurrency focusing so much on the price that they forget why we got into crypto in the first place.  Instead of changing the paradigm to one that empowers everyone, they are willing to lie to others to make a quick buck---and damn those they lie to.

I was actually kicked from the Cryptocurrency Collectors Club for talking about the Ponzi nature of Nubits/Nushares while the admin pushed "the last thing we should be doing is calling out other cryptocurrencies.  We are all in this together!"  bs.  So sad.

I personally am so pumped.  Let me explain why:

-MetaExchange
-3D Printing Alliance growing
-Open Source Hardware
-DataSecurity Shares
-MoonStone
-CryptoFresh
-LimeWallet
-Nathans Wallet
-MineBitShares
-PLAY
-MUSIC
-BitSharesTV
-NullStreet Marketers
-Other DACs some are considering working on that I am not at liberty to talk about
-...and many others I am not thinking of atm.

Not so very long ago we didn't have any of these....now we are making progress.  Now if only we can stop shooting ourselves in the foot by trying to be something we are not... :)

There seems to be an expectation that BTS is a little speed boat zipping towards the land of insta-riches.

BTS is a juggernaut that is going to roll over the world. Slowly, inexorably.

It is picking up momentum but folks can't see it.

Pity. I'll just keep DCAing each week and see ya'll in five years...

Have you tried the bitcoin wallet back in 2009? Or are you comparing a 5 year old software toolkit with 100s of developers with bitshares' 1yr with some 15 devs? Do you consider this a fair comparison? Take a look at btc ... does the wallet support asset trading? i guesa not .. because the blockchain doesn't support it .. at all ..

This.

I think the circa 0.05 CNY and $20 million is a key support level.

It should be at $20 billion. This is not fair that all those latecomers can buy at IPO price or lower.

This is an opportunity for angel investors to increase their stake without unduly increasing cost basis.

The forum has gone dark, the devs are coding like mad bastards, the spring is being wound for the next jump.

$20 billion is plausible, as is $100B and $1T and on. But it's going to take years, perhaps decades, to get there.

Folks that invested in Apple, Microsoft etc. made their fortunes 10, 20 years after their initial investments.

BTC and BTS are no different. Anyone with a significant stake now is likely to be very wealthy in 10 years....

What is a signficant stake?

> 1M BTS
