General Discussion / Re: btsbots wallet release v0.0.1
« on: December 20, 2016, 12:40:42 pm »
some asset like COMPUCEEDS is very danger for trader
the issuer of COMPUCEEDS dumped maybe 5 billions  COMPUCEEDS these two days. and the price changed from 0.00013 to 0.00008.

to reduce your lose, I have two suggestion:
1. set a balance limit for the asset lack of liquidity. or asset with high risk
2. set a local price for these assets. for COMPUCEEDS, you can try to set the price to 0.0001 BTS
3. increase the spread of these assets. from the order book of COMPUCEEDS/BTS. there are not many sell order in the price lower than 0.0002. you can try to sell the spread to 30 or more.
4. reduce the order's balance for sell COMPUCEEDS. maybe between 300 CNY to 900 CNY. a big sell order will scared the traders for selling.

Hi alt - thanks for responding so quickly!

Could you please tell me how to do steps (1) and (2)? I can increase spread and change the order balance but don't see any way to set balance limits or limit prices.

Could you also please provide direction on how to sell the COMPUCEEDS instead of just market making?

Here is what I have set for the https://btsbots.com/m/COMPUCEEDS_BTS pair:

This doesn't seem to do anything, whether I use the bot or enter a simpe sell order like this:

I apparently hold 5699158394.8463 COMPUCEEDS but only have a 'usable balance' of 0.0001 COMPUCEEDS. How is this possible? I don't seem to be able to sell any of the assets the bot acquired.

More disturbingly my account balance keeps dropping steadily even without trading, have lost another 300 CNY in the past 4 hours for no apparent reason. I need to get this fixed asap, help much appreciated.

I'm not in this to make a bunch of profit, and would be happy to help with liquidity for no profit, but I think I've just experienced a >20% loss in a couple days!

This can easily happen if the asset which you bought lost in value. When trading, use your brain. The bot can't think for you.

I've followed your tutorial in setting this up! Here is the order entry:

I did the exact same thing for all asset pairs: set spread to 2% and order balance to 23,000 CNY in both buy and sell. My understanding was that the bot would buy and sell any time it could book the spread.

Instead of buying and selling, the bot appears to have bought (and not sold!) a huge amount of COMPUCEEDS. Why? Why are all the other bots buying and selling, and my bot bought up all the COMPUCEEDS? Why didn't my bot buy up SILVER, OPEN.BTS, USD etc?

Your language is not all helpful in this situation! I am very much using my brain and did not 'buy' billions of worthless tokes... the bot bought billions of worthless tokens following your directions. The whole point of a market making bot is not to take huge positions in single asset! I appear to have just lost thousands of dollars!

I need help to get my 750k BTS out of this mess and trading properly so I can hopefully recover some these losses. Can you please use some of your knowledge and experience with the trading bot to provide direction?

My trade balance is now at - 7107.85 CNY in just two days! No matter what I do, the balance just keeps getting more negative. Obviously I am doing something wrong but I don't see what or how. Enter spread and amount on buy and sell orders, click enable bot. It's not rocket science but it has cost me more than $1000 USD in the past 48 hrs. That is insane!  I need help, not smug remarks about using my brain.

Could someone please help? I think the btsbot has lost over 200k BTS in about 48hrs!

In an effort to help with market liquidity I created the mrkmkr account and funded it with about 760,000 BTS.

It was set to trade the following pairs at 2% spread:

USD/BTS

SILVER/BTS

GOLD/BTS

PEERPLAYS/BTS

CNY/BTS

CRYPTOCEEDS/BTS

COMPUCEEDS/BTS

I've just stopped the bot; when I started the bot the left column showed 23,148 CNY; now it shows 17,735 CNY. Did I really just loose >5000 CNY ?!?!

A number at the top of the right column (trade balance(28 day)) shows you how your trading is performing. If it is positive, you are doing good. To add a new account to favorite list, type its url, e.g.

The number in the top right of the 28 trade balance is - 6578.28.

Alt - can you please have a look at the trade history and let me know what the heck happened?

I'm not in this to make a bunch of profit, and would be happy to help with liquidity for no profit, but I think I've just experienced a >20% loss in a couple days!

EDIT: I've just spent an hour running every combo of bots I can think of, spreads/single pairs/multiple pairs/buy and sell/buy only/sell only etc. and everything I do loses money almost instantly. Can someone please let me know what I'm doing wrong? I must be missing something.

It also looks like the bot has bought a ton of compuceeds and very little of everything else. Anyone know what the heck compuceeds are, or why I now own 12k CNY worth?

Is there anyway to get the bot to trade everything back to BTS? Looking like a real mess right now!

EDIT2: Holy f*ck the bot seems to have purchased 5686122490 compuceeds, which are some type of token that seems to be rapidly devaluing. I added the pair as it was the one of the highest volume and lots of bots were trading along with cryptoceeds. How the hell did I end up buying so much of this worthless token and so little of every other pair being traded by the bot? Freaking out a little here folks, compuceed market looks to be totally illiquid on the sell side. I need to unwind these positions asap! Please help!

Heh, What if you decided just to keep that money?
This is moral hazard and dirty trick.

I will keep all the money, or I wouldn't be doing this. ;)

Remember that I'm not taking money or soliciting donations from the community, but rather investing considerable time to produce quality content and asking for votes - which are given voluntarily. I am then offering to put my 'sweat equity' to work for the community to purchase BTS and increase DEX liquidity in the hopes that it helps to boost BTS market cap - which is rational given that I have a substantial investment in BTS.

Thank you to those with positive feedback on my post, greatly appreciated and I think we are all feeling a bit disenchanted with how things have progressed over the past three months.

I am going to give credit where it's due though - CNX did a substantial amount of work for BTS on their own dime. Now we can speculate till the cows come home about who benefited from their sweat equity, but I'm also going to ask that we stop beating up on each other until we know where we stand with Dan. It's wasted time and effort all around.

In the interim I'm going to try and coat tail BTS on Steemit's market cap and need everyone's help to do it. Please see my proposal here:

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,22864.msg296565.html#msg296565

Basically I hope will be enough capital via blogging to bump BTS cap and increase DEX liquidity to get Bitshares over the hump. First post is up and I'm asking everyone here to head over to the dark side an upvote/comment:

link to steemit doesnt work btw

does anyone understand how steem dollars work?  just the other day it was worth 2.5X of 1 dollar value in btc on Polo, I thought perhaps it was just polo speculators but then the volume exceeded 1000+ btc in 24 hours... so thought it would function like bitUSD... kind of strange.

https://steemit.com/steemit/@decrypt/analysis-theories-for-why-steem-backed-dollars-cost-more-than-usd1

Yes, my forum user name and Steemit account name are not playing nice.

I have been watching Polo too and have no idea what is going on. Steem Dollars are bitUSD with interest, so maybe it's just a complete hot mess to take a position?

So how come, back in the day, when STEEM could have made us all filthy rich, we tossed all STEEM threads into the "Random" area, but why now that the STEEM has attained moon orbit, are many STEEM related posts flooding the main discussion area and being allowed to stay?

Could it be that the BitShares community has forgiven Bytemaster and accepted the new tools that he has created for us to live our lives more productively?

Even I've come around to forgiving Dan.
If I can do it, anybody can.

Ok, ok.  Some of you will insist on waiting for This Summer.
But by then you'll have missed out on one of the steps up on that metaphorical rock wall...

From what I can see Steemit was treated like the other dozen or so projects being built on top of the Bitshares platform - something to keep tabs on but not the focus of the community. Sadly, we don't have a crystal ball to tell us which projects is going to rocket to the top of CMC in the next few months. ;)

Bitshares is a cash-poor project and Steemit is now a potential source of funding. There is nothing more central to any project than funding, so it is perhaps appropriate that Steemit now move into the forum spotlight.

As for 'forgiving' Dan, I'm waiting to see whether there is anything to forgive - the community is still in the dark as to what Dan's intentions are. I'm having a very hard time believing the guy that created the social contract that funded this whole adventure will be the one to breach it so violently.

For now we do what we can with what we have - roll up our sleeves and make the best of the opportunities presented by Steemit to further the interests of our community.

22
We are doing very well, the post has climbed to the top of many of the most active boards:

Board Name __ Ranking

Investment __ 1

Bitcoin __ 2

Blockchain __ 2

Cryptocurrency __ 3

Money __ 4

Introduce yourself __ 4

Steemit __ 28

Oddly enough we are not getting votes from some of the biggest steemwhales - nearly all of whom have upvoted other posts over the past 12 hours.

There is no way they haven't seen the post as it's probably in the top 30 right now, not sure what's going on.

General Discussion / Market Maker Bot
« on: July 19, 2016, 08:08:29 pm »
Would someone kindly update me on the status of trading bots on the DEX?

I'm looking for something like the Quatloo bot for Bittrex:

https://steemit.com/quatlootrader/@fyrstikken/how-to-do-market-make-and-auto-trading-steem-btc-and-sbd-btc-on-bittrex-using-the-quatloo-trader

Has someone made a bot like this for the DEX, and if not, how to we get one made?

24
Don't ask questions. Just press the damn upvote button. It does not cost you.

 +5%

Thank you, sir!

25
7) are you going to trade only on DEX?

Yes, that is the plan unless the community feels there is more benefit to trading elsewhere.

26
I would like to see a more detailed plan.  I like to see a breakdown of

1) The daily budget in USD needed to get the liquidity going
2) Your part of the fee in managing this
3) How are you going to do it? Manual or via some automatic means?
4) Are you an experience trader? If not, where are you getting the trading experience?
5) Any report given on the effectiveness of the order executions.
6) What if the venture failed?  Are the monies distributed back to bitshares holders in some way?

Are you going to have a multi-sig account, with perhaps an established bitshares user-owned steem account?

These are some of my concerns but I like to hear opinions from other bts stakeholders too.

Thank you for your post - great questions! Here's some answers:

1) The daily budget in USD needed to get the liquidity going

10,000 STEEM/104 = 96 STEEM/day. At the time of writing this is about $350 USD per day or ~ $10k per month/$240k total liquidity

It's not much but is realistic based on the amount of time/effort I can make available to earn the initial stake via writing.

If the steemwhales start supporting/upvoting we may be able to do much more - currently we have 134 votes are not yet getting love from the steemwhales.

2) Your part of the fee in managing this

My fees = bts + steem

3) How are you going to do it? Manual or via some automatic means?

Automatic market making bots are preferred. I don't have the skill set to create trading bots but other community members do - we will use the BTS to test and tune them.

4) Are you an experience trader? If not, where are you getting the trading experience?

I have a few decades of trading and investment under my belt, but am always looking to learn new things. Market making via bots in shallow crypto markets is definitely going to be a new thing.

5) Any report given on the effectiveness of the order executions.

If you tell me what metrics you want to track, we will track them.

6) What if the venture failed?  Are the monies distributed back to bitshares holders in some way?

No, funds generated will not be distributed to bitshares holders as I'm not asking for investment or other monetary contributions from the community, ie. there is no risk associated with participation (voting).

However, I will say that If the venture fails I am out a considerable amount of time and effort, which is not trivial at my stage in life. ;)

27
Great post, thank you for taking the initiative! I have upvoted and commented. Apparently commenting is important, so we should all try and throw down some quick comments with upvotes.

Please have a look at this post: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,22864.0/topicseen.html and watch for my Steemit posts in the near future. I'm on a mission to bring in new money from Steemit and need the help of everyone that can upvote.

Great start OldMan, I upvoted your post too. You're an amazing writer, seriously -- I'm always amazed by the quality of your posts around here. Exciting times ahead!

Thanks everyone!

Thank you for your feedback and your vote - greatly appreciated! I've never considered myself much of a writer but, hey, I'll take it to the bank and buy some Bitshares  :D

28
You'll get upvotes there as long as you're providing good contents. I appreciate your efforts. Voted for the first one. However I have no much time to spend on browsing the site, so perhaps will miss some of your new posts. Please let me know when that's the case.

Thank you svk, your comments and vote are greatly appreciated!

I will continue to use this forum and PMs to keep the community notified of when new Steemit posts are ready for voting - the PMs are very time consuming but it's the most direct and easy way to keep folks informed.

29
I've manually PM'd 60 of my closet friends on the forum, apparently you're only allowed to spam 60 accounts per hour so I'm shut down for the time being.

Let's see how this goes! Long road, first step.

30
This is cheating!!

Only if there's a rule book. ;)

If we can bump BTS over the $50M cap there will be a flood of new money coming for the next bull run.

Basically just priming the pump through buying and holding.
