Great post, upvoted!

Please do the same for my posting per this thread: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,22864.msg296565.html#msg296565

The first post is here:

I'm trying to get steemwhales to fund a BTS buying spree/liquidity injection.

Thank you to those with positive feedback on my post, greatly appreciated and I think we are all feeling a bit disenchanted with how things have progressed over the past three months.

I am going to give credit where it's due though - CNX did a substantial amount of work for BTS on their own dime. Now we can speculate till the cows come home about who benefited from their sweat equity, but I'm also going to ask that we stop beating up on each other until we know where we stand with Dan. It's wasted time and effort all around.

In the interim I'm going to try and coat tail BTS on Steemit's market cap and need everyone's help to do it. Please see my proposal here:

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,22864.msg296565.html#msg296565

Basically I hope will be enough capital via blogging to bump BTS cap and increase DEX liquidity to get Bitshares over the hump. First post is up and I'm asking everyone here to head over to the dark side an upvote/comment:

Ok folks, the first post is live!

Unfortuneately Bitsharestalk corrupts the url due to the similar user names (changes @ oldman to @ OldMan automatically, can't disable).

Here is the url:

You can copy/paste and add the @:

I am trying to optimize layout and content based on blog posts that earn higher rewards - decent grammar, images, tags, length etc. If  you have any feedback on how to make these posts better please do not be shy.

Comments and upvotes are critical to maximizing rewards. Posts also seem to have a very short shelf life so please upvote as soon as you are able.

Suggestions for topics for future posts are very welcome! I'm not a blogger and coming up with things to write about is not my forte.

Good luck to us all!

Awesome! +5% Is there a link to your account on steemit so we can follow or know when you post?

The first post will be up shortly, will post the link and the account name is under the title. Unfortunately Steemit doesn't yet provide the ability to follow people so I will be posting updates in this thread.

I just noticed there is indeed a follow button of the blog page:

https://steemit.com/@-o-l-d-m-a-n

(you will need to remove the dashes)

Thank you for your post!

You should page the whales you metionned to have their feedbacks.

Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

I'll PM them through the forum, but I'm not sure how many are still following here. Steemit doesn't seem to have a way to communicate directly, so if I can't get the message out via bitsharestalk I'm not sure how else to get a hold of folks. Any suggestions?

Send them messages through bitshares.

Good point - I've used the forum exclusively to this point, but will broaden my horizons. Thank you!

Great post, thank you for taking the initiative! I have upvoted and commented. Apparently commenting is important, so we should all try and throw down some quick comments with upvotes.

Please have a look at this post: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,22864.0/topicseen.html and watch for my Steemit posts in the near future. I'm on a mission to bring in new money from Steemit and need the help of everyone that can upvote.

Steem is an amazing platform and I believe it is going to be big. Really big. Multi-platinum, eat-Facebook's-lunch big. The quality of the content has completely surpassed Reddit and the level of community engagement makes Facebook look like MySpace. And that's just a few weeks of beta and 20-30k users. In six months it will be a monster.

People are just delusional that Steem will succeed. It's a clear bubble  8)

It is a well planned and carefully managed bubble that is providing startup capital to tens of thousands of developers who will work their assess off to make Steemit succeed. I have been using Steemit for about a day and am both engaged and fascinated by the platform - and I despise social media in general. As an investor able to experience tech first hand I feel it has some serious legs.

But social media is a drop in the bucket compared to global finance and I am hunting bigger game - billions of value compared to hundreds of trillions in value. And in my mind Bitshares will do for global finance what Steemit is doing for social media. It just needs a jump start.

39
(..)
If we can get to the ~ 70,000 SP level I should be able to buy ~ 2M BTS per day. It's not much but if I am constantly spiking low volume exchanges people will notice. And considering the levels of liquidity on the DEX a million or so BTS per day will add up fast.

If the 70k is hit I will see continue to pump BTS and provide liquidity for the duration of the two year SP redemption period. Consider this a social contract, though I'm really asking for nothing more than votes from the community.

If we work together we can substantially increase BTS market cap (...)

While liquidity is in fact needed the way of achieving this goal, as described, isn't appropriate.

Yes, BitShares is hated for lack of Return On Investment, but it is well respected for transparency and stability. Let's not forfeit that with unnecessary and reckless action.

Things are getting much prettier than before without resorting to "pump&dump" methods.
I even think that no such or similar action is required, because BitShares is gaining traction on its own. Let's have a look.

For example:
- the recent post on steemit with screenshot how to trade is actually enough for people to look into trading with BitShares Decentralized Exchange.
- cryptofresh.com is an awesome block explorer and information page. I discovered it just couple days ago and seeing how smooth things works made me buy some extra shares with the thought in my mind  that we are getting ready for taking off :D
- Moonstone Wallet and PeerTracks are promising and BitShapphire improved a lot on quality of their work
- Xeroc takes care of python libs which allows programmers to play with bots and the whole precious thing we got here
- Success of steem.it is attracting more eyes to ByteMaster's genius work
- OpenLedger and ccdk are doing really great job of kick starting the business

These are things I noticed.
Let other notice and we are good.

ps Sorry for all other BitShares heroes not mentioned. There are more great contributions then that little list.

I completely agree with your sentiments, as I believe most of this community does. But most of this community, including myself, have held those same sentiments for many years now. Progress is being made and we have some of the best devs and technology in the business.

Unfortunately we need to pay our devs and it's going to take a lot more than $15M market cap to make it happen. Dan realized the only way to bootstrap a crypto project effectively was a run up CMC.

Bitshares has the potential to make a huge difference in the world, but only if it gets out into the world.

Steemit has provided us with the opportunity to secure new capital. If we work together we can realistically increase the market cap 2-5x over the next few months. That is 2x-5x more funding for developers, which I believe will get us over the hump and a lot of new functionality up and running.

Bitshares needs a substantial bump in market cap right now. Not next month or next year. I'm not saying that what Steemit/Dan did was the best way to grow a business, but I have learned that results matter. Steemit is getting results and we would be wise to follow their lead.

For a brief background please read my post here: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,22125.msg296501.html#msg296501

Short version is that Steem features a lot of innovations created by this community over the past three years and I strongly believe AGS/PTS investors should be share dropped, but further in-fighting is a waste of time until we hear from Dan.

Bitshares, on the other hand, is the ugly duckling of crypto. Complex, misunderstood, neglected and largely ignored. But with same heart of gold that is making Steemit fly.

To mature and blossom Bitshares needs DEX liquidity, a tighter share supply and visibility. There are enough Bitshare's community members that are now Steemit whales to send Bitshares straight to the moon. I don't know why this isn't happening. There are a dozen or so devs with millions in combined buying power - the DEX could be flooded with liquidity and BTS could be getting pumped up CMC just like STEEM.

I suspect for most noveau-whales the profits from Steem Power compounding far outweigh the profit that could be made trying to pump Bitshares or provide liquidity. This is perfectly rational and I would do the same were I in their position. As I am not, here is my proposal to the community:

1. I have created a Steemit account with user name of 'oldman'

2. 'oldman' will publish two to three blogs per week, or more if I can manage the time

3. I ask that all of the Bitshares cum Steemit whales 'upvote' my posts. Dan, fuzzy, riverhead, xeldal, arhag, onceuponatime, donkypong, xeroc, et. al I'm looking at you and need all of your votes

4. Everyone else in the Bitshares community that is not a Steemit whale, but would like to see their Bitshares investment prosper, please register an account and upvote

5. 100% of the rewards from posting will be converted to Steem Power ("Powered Up")

6. When the Steem Power balance reaches 70,000 SP I will "Power Down" seven (7) blocks of 10,000 Steem Power, one block per day of the week

7. This will result in a daily payout of STEEM, seven days a week, for a two year period

8. Payout will be used to buy BTS in the tightest markets I can find with greatest slippage, ie. every BTS buy will be a small pump that I will attempt to sustain as long as possible

9. 50% of BTS will be held

10. 50% of BTS will be used to provide liquidity on the DEX

From what I can see, if all the Bitshares whales upvote we should be in business with 10-20 posts, so maybe a month of 'blogging' is required to get up and running. I'm not sure one guy can make much of difference, but damned if I'm going to sit around and watch Steemit run into the billions while Bitshares languishes. We have built the best crypto-finance platform on the planet. Steemit is nothing if not confirmation of just how good Bitshares really is. But we need people buying BTS and we need liquidity on the exchange.

If we can get to the ~ 70,000 SP level I should be able to buy ~ 2M BTS per day. It's not much but if I am constantly spiking low volume exchanges people will notice. And considering the levels of liquidity on the DEX a million or so BTS per day will add up fast.

If the 70k is hit I will continue to pump BTS and provide liquidity for the duration of the two year SP redemption period. Consider this a social contract, though I'm really asking for nothing more than votes from the community.

If we work together we can substantially increase BTS market cap, and consequently provide the much needed funding for development.

I will also support any other community member that wants to join me in 'blogging' and using the proceeds to benefit Bitshares. At the time of writing 'oldman' has exactly 5.016 SP, so my voting power isn't much, but you're welcome to it.

Links to the blog posts will be posted in this thread for upvoting, as well as updates on SP balance.

Thank you!

No abrupt pivot in focus.  Dan has been transparently discussing ways to stay in business since last fall.
This has been part of the plan for six months and everyone here has been kept in the loop every step of the way.
Read my posts since March 14th, here and on Steemit if you don't want to be caught by surprise.

Stan - thank you for your response. I've now invested the necessary time to go back through your posts as well as Dan's over the past six months as recommended. I have also investigated Steemit as thoroughly as possible, though I don't use Facebook, Twitter etc. so the social media thing is a little above my paygrade.

To be frank, what I found was disappointing.

Steemit was announced 01-April (current thread) and Dan's last post was 02-May. Cold turkey, nothing since. After years of engagement with this community and nearly 10,000 posts authored I think it is reasonable to call Dan's pivot abrupt in the extreme.

I agree there is a lot of good commentary on the need to raise capital and the community was made aware that new sources of funding are needed. However, at no point do I see "Dan will be shelving Bitshares on 02-May to focus on Steemit; here is the handoff strategy; here is the roadmap". Nor do I see a commitment or any indication that funds raised through Steemit will be used to further development of Bitshares.

Now, Steemit. As an investor I want to invest - the execution is incredible and the platform has real potential as The Next Big Thing, and not just in the crypto space. Dan is a brilliant developer/programmer/strategist/creator and Steemit is his finest work to date. It is going to take me a while to wrap my head around the possibilities the platform offers, but at first blush it appears to be the killer app for crypto.  Steemit may well bring crypto to the masses.

As an AGS/PTS investor I am livid. Apoplectic. Here's what I see:

Steem = Bitshares

Steem dollars = bitUSD

Steem power =  +5% (yield)

Steemit is the best of Bitshares packaged with a big social media bow on top. The back-end tech that makes Steemit such an incredibly user friendly and accessible crypto platform was built for Bitshares and funded by AGS/PTS. There is no world in which Steemit exists without AGS/PTS investment and the dedication and hardwork of the Bitshares community.

This is where I would pull Dan into my office, tell him to look me in the eye, and ask him to explain why AGS/PTS/Brownies have not received a share drop. I am truly stunned that there is not even a blog post on the topic. Dan would not be where he is today without the investment and support of this community.

"There were posts, you could have mined, you were invited." "The developers do not owe you and you are not entitled". This is mildly insulting. There are dozens of exciting projects related to Bitshares and it is unreasonable/impractical to expect investors to follow all projects and participate in all ICO/pre-mines. The AGS/PTS 'social contract' was created specifically to address this issue - and we all invested so we would not need to chase ICOs/pre-mines and could instead participate in future projects via share drop.

Why are there not pitchforks and torches in the streets? Why are the lead devs and forum heroes not demanding answers? It appears the majority of the core Bitshares dev team have become very enthusiastic Steemit "dolphins" and "whales" over the past few weeks.  It is absolutely fantastic to see some of our most dedicated, hard working community members hit the 1000% crypto ride we've all been chasing. But a very small percentage of the overall community has benefited.

There is a mailing list. Why was there not an email sent out? Why so little outreach? For something as critical as the lead dev pivoting to another project a clear, concise letter to the community would have been appropriate. Sometime in mid-March: "Dear investor, starting in May, Dan is going to park Bitshares for the foreseeable future and focus on developing Steemit. Steemit uses all of the good things that were built for Bitshares, but is packaged for the majority of internet users (social media) rather than a minority of internet users (investors/finance). There will be no share drop on AGS/PTS/Brownies and investment is via pre-mine only. Here is the road map for the next 12 months." Guidance and forward-looking statements would have resulted in a larger percentage of the community benefiting.

So where do we go from here? Like it or not, there is no recourse with a social contract except an appeal to honor and justice. I believe this writing serves as an appeal, and I would ask Dan to respond in full. Dan is presumably preoccupied with whomever keeps taking down steemit.com so I don't expect a response in the immediate future.

That being the case, I've been investing long enough to know that we all need to be long Steem Power asap. The train has left the station and many of us don't have a ticket.

The Steem market is far too thin to take a position OTC, I've been trading Bittrex over the past few days and the slippage is absurd. This is intentional, and kudos to Dan and team for absolutely destroying CMC. We were all choked when Ripple gamed CMC and knocked us down, couldn't be happier to see karma kicking ass. But it means we can't dump BTS for STEEM in any quantity. Dealing with the clowns daytrading on Bittrex is very, very stale. Try placing a bid for a block of 5 or 10k STEEM and see what happens.

I don't do social media - at all - but will register an account, post content and lobby the Bitshares dophins/whales to 'upvote. I strongly believe Steem Power to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and all community members should make an effort to get a position by whatever means necessary. Unfortunately, my initial investigation into Steemit 'mining' has left the distinct impression that value seems to flow to makeup tutorials, travelogues, breasts. I do not use make up, do not travel to exotic places in provocative clothing and do not possess attractive breasts. Absent some benevolent whale voters, it seems most of us will be 'mining' with a CPU and competing against ASICs. I found it surprising that there is so much exceptional material posted where the authors have clearly invested substantial effort in producing meaningful, well written content... and earned only a few dollars or nothing at all. Yet a man smearing lipstick on his face was rewarded with thousands. Early days, but wow, it's surprising how the 'block rewards' are being allocated now that the public have been invited to 'mine'.

TL;DR: Appeal to Dan to provide guidance on where AGS/PTS/Brownies stand relative to Steemit. Steem Power is an investment this community should not pass up, but market is too thin to trade into a meaningful position. Mining is possible but only worthwhile if you have nice breasts, funny videos or dophin/whale friends. Bitshares community members should have dolphin/whale friends, so we should 'mine' by contributing as we wait to find out where we stand with Dan.

Substantial volume on Polo, too.  163M BTS traded in last 24 hours.  I think we're under accumulation.  And bid support growing.  I think big moves are about to occur.

Smart money is realizing the Bitshares core dev team just got a huge influx of capital, the lead dev is now a benevolent whale... and all Bitshares needs to go full-moon is a well capitalized core dev team and benevolent whale.

Technical Support / Re: The case for bitGOLD and bitSILVER
« on: July 15, 2016, 05:56:16 am »
Are there any liquidity bots that a non-technical user like myself could run? Doesn't even need to make a profit, just not lose value.

And by non-technical I mean type in the the amount of BTS, choose the market and click go.

Click stop and the BTS go back into your account.

If providing liquidity was this simple I'll bet a lot of folks, including myself, would provide a lot of liquidity to bootstap the markets.

General Discussion / Re: Is Bitshares still growing?
« on: July 15, 2016, 05:34:25 am »
Hi All,

From the outside it looks to me as if the founder and chief architect has moved on to greener pastures... ie Dan is the founder of Steem which is going off right now, worth millions etc

We have people handing down gratuitous "Thank You" posts as they cash out there hundreds of thousands in Steem shares, oh this is just wonderful... except I don't have any Steem shares. I am in Bitshares, perhaps stupidly believing the mantra of "long term investment"?

Is there anyone else here? Is there still a dev team? Is it business as usual, or is Bitshares dead in the water?

I too had a bit of a rude awakening when Steem ran up the CMC pole and am now educating myself as to what's gone on in the past six months with Dan et al.

My read at this point is that Steem is a potentially *massive* crypto project that was gamed to provide a much-needed capital injection for the Bitshares core dev team. There are now quite a few brilliant and motivated Bitshares devs that don't have to worry about bills for a while. Wonder what they'll get up to?

Yes, I'm a little pissed there wasn't more effort made to include the AGS/PTS crowd via sharedrop per the 'social contract'. However, doing so would make less capital available to the dev team, where it can be used to create exponentially greater value in getting Bitshares off the ground.

I have already substantially increased my BTS holdings and suspect many other investors are doing the same. Bitshares is a crypto that will be absolutely stunning when it gains momentum - biggest thing holding it back are the speed bumps of liquidity and payroll... and the steemroller just fired up. I still believe that Bitshares will be the first trillion-dollar crypto-asset. Where Bitcoin was designed primarily as a store of value... Bitshares was designed as an entirely new global financial system. I'm looking for $1 BTS in <12 months. Said that a few times now, but I'm going to keep saying it until I'm right.

Buy, hodl, prosper. I'm still pissed though. ;)
