Technical Support / Re: Import Problem
« on: June 17, 2017, 06:51:59 pm »
I don't know what he meant but I would guess it goes like this:

1. Create a new account using the Wallet model (important)
2. Go to the settings and restore your old 0.9.3c json
3. In the balance claim section that appears, (or in Settings > Wallet), claim your old balances into the new account you created in step 1

Its essential to use the wallet model and to have a new bts 2 account, since AGS/PTS keys do not belong to accounts in in BTS 2 and this makes it impossible to claim your old balances.

4. Backup your wallet using the bin file, and make sure you remember your password.

@svk thanks man. So if I am not in a hurry to move these funds anyway I should just wait until it is resolved. Do you have an estimation of when this will be resolved?

Np. I don't have an estimate but your funds are definitely safe, nothing to worry about there.

Thanks again.

If you have a backup that means you are using the wallet model, which also means you cannot use the account + password login. If you want to move to another computer or browser you need to activate the wallet model and restore from your backup.

I signed up originally under the account model. The account name is trevor-utz. I could pm my password, but I never originally signed up for the wallet. I only used the wallet method afterwards to check to see if I could transfer accounts to different browsers or to the desktop application. Wallet method worked for transfers.

Would switching to a wallet model basically deactivate your account you created? Is there any way to log back into the account even without a wallet attached? I am positive I have an account. I have transactions that are associated with the account and a balance. If switching to a wallet model renders the account you signed up for useless, that seems very confusing.

Password was said to be incorrect when trying to transfer browsers on the account method. Maybe something to look into.

I appreciate the fast response and attention. I have heard this issue coming from some people in tele chat as well. Same problem as me. The password for the account works internally to unlock default wallet that comes with the account-model account. However the password does not work when transferring browsers.

In order to move to a new browser you need to restore your wallet using the backup.

@ svk

You really are NOT helping - users say that their password claims is incorrect, and you suggest for them to restore their wallet using their PASSWORD??

Find a way to sort this out please ASAP! Our funds are just hanging there! We need a way to restore the password that the site has messed up while being created, and now thinks its 'Incorrect'. My idea is that people created their account from internet explorer, and somehow it messed up their passwords.

FIX IT!

It's quite clear from what he's saying that he used the wallet model and not the password model, and it seems to me that most of these issues are from users who did not read and understand the differences between the two.

If you used the password model you use an account name plus a password to login, and you DO NOT have a backup bin file nor a brain key.

If you used the wallet model you login by ONLY entering your password, and you can backup your wallet as a bin file or a brain key. To use the bin file you still need your password, to use the brain key you don't.

As a new user the the models are mutually exclusive, you have either one or the other. If you find your password not working, try switching models using the button in the unlock dialog.

Another thing, the GUI remembers your account name but that does not mean you are "logged in", you still ALWAYS need your password to perform any blockchain transactions, and the account creation stresses this point.

It's an issue with fees not being subtracted properly, try sending a slightly smaller amount, the fee is something like 0.00000389 btc it seems from your error.

Oh ok, this is an error caused by a change of the backend that we're working on resolving. It should be possible to compile an earlier version of the witness node to bypass this issue, or connect to a node that hasn't updated yet if there are any.

Also having password issues. I am positive the password is correct.

I created a new account and cannot access using password unless wallet is set up along with it. Is this built into the system this way? I was told it should work independently of the wallet model, but it seems very dependent on the wallet.

I would say the accounts and passwords needs to be improved. I've tested this a couple of times and came back with errors before when I hadn't in the past. Regardless, I have backups now so I am able to access the account, but this seems like a huge misleading problem to people who know their passwords and are getting the incorrect password screen.

If you have a backup that means you are using the wallet model, which also means you cannot use the account + password login. If you want to move to another computer or browser you need to activate the wallet model and restore from your backup.

That's very strange indeed. Can you check the console for errors when you try to make a transfer? Would be helpful in debugging this.

Plug-ins don't matter here, the only concern is that you might overload the api.

Did you use the wallet or account model when creating the account? Try switching between the two in the login dialog.

No it's just a network fee for the miners , USDT runs on the bitcoin blockchain using Omni iirc.

That's just the standard USDT fee on the bitcoin blockchain, it's retarded high. Kraken also charges 5 USDT for example .

Technical Support / Re: Old balance of Bitshares DNS on Poloniex?
« on: June 12, 2017, 03:45:16 am »
The DNS chain was abandoned and holders were given a small amount of BTS as compensation, but only if you held them outside of an exchange. Your DNS are now worthless I'm afraid.
