Technical Support / Re: The way how gateways should work.
« on: November 03, 2015, 01:53:05 pm »
It would be nice if someone would explain the whole concept(s) of "gateways" because up until recently I thought of it only as a way to get BTC converted to BitShares BTS and "Smartcoins" but now it seems that they are also used to store IOUs for the "real" BTC/ETH etc...in your Bitshares wallet which are supposedly redeemable on their respective exchange (counterparty risk I guess if you hold it in Bitshares for a long time) for real BTC/ETH.

General Discussion / Re: Problem of bitshares community is too many choise
« on: November 03, 2015, 02:15:54 am »
There is alway argue in the community, not just because of the price drop.

It is also because there is too many choises. Such as brownie and bts take the community into two part.
When there is another choise, then there is a group to argue for their interest.

The choise of bitcoin is less, and their community can do only one thing: making bitcoin success.

Some truth here...don't spread yourself too thin.  Better to be great at a 4 things than mediocre at 100.

OpenLedger / Re: CCEDK now 10% of all BTS trade volume
« on: November 01, 2015, 03:27:11 pm »
As a basic user, I used the blocktrades gateway once or twice (I assume openledger works similarly) until I decided that It was too cumbersome.  The last thing I want to do after using a "gateway" is to have to sell something again (TRADE BTC) in yet another market to finally get what I want.  The only "gateways" that make sense for me are things like metaexchange.info which go directly into your BTS account.

General Discussion / Re: QA needed in the GUI deployment process
« on: November 01, 2015, 03:15:04 pm »
Our current GUI deployment cycle looks like this:
(1) Without any prior notification the devs deploy a new release on Open Ledger (our only live platform).
(2) Community members who happen to find out about the upgrade report bugs introduced with the new release.
(3) Devs fix the new bugs and if the bugs are critical they make an emergency redeployment.

IMO such workflow is unacceptable at this stage.
We are live (no longer beta) and aim to be treated seriously.
It's a very bad practice to deploy a new GUI release without several people testing it first in different configurations.

What I propose is introduce QA (Quality Assurance) in the GUI deployment process by making community testing an integral part of it.
We could implement it in these simple steps:
(1) A new GUI release is announced on the forum and then made available on a dedicated (non-public) URL.
(2) We test the upgraded GUI and give feedback about any new bugs found.
(3) Devs fix those new bugs.
(4) After all bugs are fixed and no new ones are found within the next 24 hours, the new release is deployed on Open Ledger.

And just to make it clear - I'm not upset about bugs occurring, as this is normal when code gets upgraded.
What I'm upset about is that we could easily protect normal users from being exposed to those bugs and yet we don't do it.

We definitely need to be more careful about these things.
This is the time when this GUI is being showcased in business meetings and it needs to work without any new unexpected bugs or issues.
Otherwise we risk making fools of ourselves in those crucial meetings.

+5% - Starting to get frustrating again having to reload...butttons don't work...works different in different browsers.  You need some sort of formal QA process.

General Discussion / Re: TRADE.BTC and TRADE.LTC are up and running
« on: October 20, 2015, 04:16:43 pm »
Tried this today...sent BTC to the deposit address.  19 BTC confirmations.  Received nothing so far....very frustrated.

Deposit/withdraw is temporary unavailable. See the posts above.

So, will the funds flow at some point or have I lost my deposit?

Unfortunately I  no longer have the time or money to run the following 3% delegates:

delegate1-galt
delegate1.john-galt

I  will shut them down by the end of next week or sooner if they are voted out sooner.

I appreciate the trust and opportunity Bytemaster gave me to be part of this experiment.  I will continue to follow the project and lurk around the forum.

Finally got to listen to this.   +5% for the new approach.  Especially the removal/scaling back of dillution delegates, implementation of the referral system and incentives for companies to do the development.  Real companies with defined roles, leaders etc...

1st= Usability and user experience
2nd=Marketing & acquiring Customers

BitShares needs well-heeled investor(s)/white knight/business CEO to push this all through.

General Discussion / Re: Bytemaster and Mumble - A Proposed Solution
« on: March 02, 2015, 12:45:29 pm »
- Create a public roadmap similar to Maidsafe to keep investors in the loop. Not everyone lives on Github.

- If Dan feels the need to speak, Bitshares.tv. Max is smart enough to present it in the best way possible.

- Client voting proposals so we hear from the larger holders, not just those that have time to hang out around the forums.

- Any PR releases should be reviewed by multiple people.

- Mumble sessions for other people important to the ecosystem.

- We need a polished client and a real reason for the millions of Bitcoin wallets to use our decentralized exchange. That is what generates the PR we need to survive.

- Further development on wall features such as subscriptions provides a huge boost to delegate reporting effectiveness outside the forum.

Publishing without review is a bad idea in general. In the end it is up to each individual to be responsible for the quality of their own output by delegating time to different media and seeking reviews from confidants whos judgements they know they can trust.

Made any new contacts?
Were people interested in the idea?

How about they "work" on making what they already have more valuable rather than trying to suck more out of a failing system. If they have to get real jobs and work on Bitshares in their spare time, so be it. Nobody has more to gain than the Dev team. The incentive is their, they just want to eat their cake too. The productivity of the group, as it seems now, is lacking.  The supposed 1.0 launch seems to be drifting further away the more developers are added to the project.  I have a feeling if 95% of the Dev team quit today! we would see 1.0 sooner than if they all stayed on board. Meanwhile price is on a downward spiral to its all time lows at the début of BTSX when market functionality was yet to be working or proved. Good job team!  Maybe you could add 70 more developers so this project can nose dive into the graveyard and everyone here can just get on with their lives next week.  Or maybe you could go back to St Marten and find that "Great White Buffalo", or the find the killer DAC that VOTE was supposed to be,  or muster up that fellow from down under who was going to bring the Philippine remittance market, or the promised USD to BTS gateways that were coming months ago, or the infomercial (which sounds refreshing in this bleak project at this time), or you could just make up some other bullshit promise. Jesus Christ, after writing that, I can't believe I and anyone else is still involved with this. Those promises are no different than the paycoin promises.

Sorry to say but I think a lot of people feel this way.  He speaks for more than a few I suspect.  Most won't dare post it though.
