Meta / Re: The future of the forum?
« on: May 13, 2016, 04:52:01 pm »
There is no 'formal' decision to move anywhere and I will still be active in this forum.
Only thing that changes is that I double post into Steem on annoucements and stuff.

Also, there are documentation pages for BitShares (docs.bitshares.eu) that are not 'changing' but improving over time. That page should be visited by newbies aswell!
That's pretty much my stance as well, posting in both locations.

Looks like DAO presale is going great so far, over 1358 ETH in 24hr volume (~30BTC).

I'd love to vote for your witness, but why do you have TWO witnesses?
It would be nice if you server was located in china. Could you tell us more about the server?

Hi xeroc,

His witness is "xman", who represents a wechat advertisement account---called "hellobts".  He also wants to endorse another guy from Chinese community , who rarely speak English but owns the biggest BTS theme website---www.btsabc.org .  Under the current circumstance in Chinese community, actually these two guys are the most active BTS evangelists now. With them, BTS  has the hope to regain the confidence.  IMO, both of them are qualified for a worker proposal.

Since they contribute so much to BTS community and not greedy at all, I want to endorse both of them.
got my vote, and thanks for your work, guys!

Openledger / Re: Trading DOGECOIN on OpenLedger
« on: May 12, 2016, 04:20:53 pm »
Please note that due to the relatively low cost of DOGE per unit, that test deposits of DOGE should be around 500 DOGE or more to pay the BTS transaction cost to receive OPEN.DOGE.

General Discussion / Re: Move Bitsharestalk to Steemit?
« on: May 11, 2016, 03:17:29 am »
Steem's unlimited range of topics appeals to an infinitely wider audience than BitSharesTalk and thus has the benefit of bringing new eyeballs to anything about BitShares posted there.

This includes new DEX users who have picked up a head of Steem and now want to know what other cool things you can do with it.

Kind of like Plutonium.

It's fortunate that those with intractably bitter attitudes want to stay here on BitSharesTalk where no one will see their posts and only positive, optimistic people want to move their constructive, forward thinking opinions into the bright, puffy cloud of Steem where snide comments quickly sink into oblivion.  So it's a really beautiful, self-reinforcing Darwinian selection process.

No need to formally make such a group decision.  It will sort itself out.

:)

It is very much true that shady people who have one consistent trait of not following through with what they say they're going to do would prefer a site where they and their cohorts can bury any messages pointing this out.

Edit - It shows a lack of integrity to not speak of one's truth beliefs.

hmm . I thought STEEM is a blockchain . I don't think burying information is possible .

Even with so-called up-vote and down-vote system , I can still build a site where the sorting algo will be different from STEEMIT right ?

Just like a Blockchain explorer can choose whether their Block info displays from top to bottom or bottom to top .
yes, you're correct. I suspect steemit.com itself will give more options for viewing order as the site matures.

DigixDAO volume for the latest 24h $ 295,012 (via Coinmarketcap)

On OpenLedger it's successfully traded in pairs:
BTS: https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/market/OPEN.DGD_BTS
BTC: https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/market/OPEN.DGD_OPEN.BTC
FIAT USD: https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/market/OPEN.DGD_USD
FIAT CNY: https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/market/OPEN.DGD_CNY
Just a quick clarification: the latter two markets are for BitUSD and BitCNY (smartcoins), not the fiat UIAs.

It's not easy to search the open.eth:open.dao market, you literally have to type in that string with the colon to pull it up.

And I wanted to ask, so what openledger is doing, is purchasing the dao by the crowdsale mechanism for you, when buy open.dao on the dex? And they'll be able to redeem it at a later date for you. That is cool, it means we allow people trade it. However I must say I have no idea what this open.dao is, all I find online is about digix-dao. And that crowd sale ended I believe. When does this one end?
I guess open.eth:open.dao will likely be added to the default popular markets in the next release of the web wallet. For now, search for it once as OPEN.ETH:OPEN.DAO or OPEN.DAO:OPEN.ETH if you prefer, then you can add it to your personal favorites by pushing the favorite star icon. If you have an account on OpenLedger already, you can also use this link:
https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/market/OPEN.ETH_OPEN.DAO

Yes, OPEN.DAO is DAO pre-purchased from the ongoing daohub.org crowdsale and offered at the current crowdsale price. This is a different coin from DigixDAO. As of this posting, the ICO price for DAO is scheduled to increase in 4 days and ends in 18 days, according to their website.

Is Bunkerchain Labs Inc willing to confirm the licensing arrangement with Cryptonomex Inc for the Graphene technology used in Peerplays?

Has Bunkerchain Labs Inc retained the license grant prior to the ICO, or do they anticipate gaining the license grant in the future?

Will any amount of ICO funds raised offset Graphene licensing fees?

Isn't graphene now under MIT licensing?
yes, it's MIT licensed

General Discussion / Re: Move Bitsharestalk to Steemit?

Wow, those stats are indeed rather dismal and the trend is clear as day.
The stats look far worse than the truth in this case, because May stats are for a partial month. Re-evaluating with that correction, data doesn't look nearly as bad.
Multiple all May stats by 4 to estimate the whole month...still not good.
Not good, but not dire. Certainly one cause is that some of our more prolific posters  are tied up in other activities right now (BM, DataSecurityNode, kencode, and associated team members). And as been mentioned, a lot of our posters are posting more now on steemit. I think it would be a big mistake to read too much into this regarding BitShares itself.

I think we're both writing new posts while the other is still modifying his previous post, so I'll repeat in part my last post and try to clarify it.

I don't think it's worth the time to try to do this for DAO as we're already into the ICO and we're not directly advertised on their page anyways. If a new ICO wants us to add this kind of functionality and is willing to advertise us in a similar way to the way Bittrex is being advertised there, we can do it, of course. But ultimately this is just some extra assurance from DAOhub that the tokens are legitimately backed. To the extent that someone is willing to trust OpenLedger, there's no difference in the offerings.

We need use smart contracts to improvement this IOU.
I'm not sure what smart contract functionality you're thinking we need. We could easily deliver OPEN.DAO directly to a user on BlockTrades as soon as his cryptocoin purchase was confirmed (so in about 10s or less if he buys the OPEN.DAO with BTS, or about 5 minutes if he buys with BTC). I can set it up tomorrow if you think that will bring in significantly more business for BitShares.

Edit: Oh, I just saw your post above. We don't really have time to change this, and I don't see why it should be such a big deal anyways. OpenLedger has already established it's reliability for making good on it's pre-sales with DGD. In case it's not clear what we're doing, we're buying the DAO up via the ICO, then offering an IOU for the quantities we've bought.
