Hi,

I've added an order there now, so please check again.

best regards,

Dan

Gateways for TRADE.MUSE are disabled now, but there are standing market orders to allow converting all remaining TRADE.MUSE to OPEN.MUSE here: https://bitshares.org/wallet/#/market/TRADE.MUSE_OPEN.MUSE

33
As a side note, a couple of people have asked me privately if this shutdown signaled a movement away from the BitShares community on BlockTrades' part. Therefore, I wanted to clarify that BlockTrades is still a big supporter of BitShares: we will continue to help promote its growth via our technology and expertise,  and I personally believe it has a bright future.

34
Would you consider open sourcing the gateway code which you had implemented?
No, because the gateway code is mixed with the code used by our bridge system, so there's no easy way to release it without reducing the barrier to entry to competitors to our bridge business.

35
This is unfortunately. Now, the only usable gateway is openledger, which is not good.
Well, I can say with certainty that no one was really actively using our gateway (admittedly we weren't promoting it either).

If someone does want to operate another gateway, we could always license the technology for the gateway to them for a price (or they can create their own, it's hard, but obviously not impossible to do, metaexchange has done it and I think transwiser as well).

best regards,

Technical Support / Re: Cant deposit BTC through gateway
« on: April 30, 2017, 05:11:53 pm »
It's down right now for getting deposit addresses,  we're working with OpenLedger now to get it operational again, should be up in the next hour I think.

Hi everyone,

We are shutting down the BlockTrades gateway (not our bridge, just our gateway). We created it originally mainly as a prototype for the technology used by OpenLedger, and we think the OPEN assets adequately serve the community. I've left the TRADE assets operational just so there was a backup gateway, but it's really hardly ever used, so it requires us to maintain an entire gateway for little purpose.

Note that we will be continuing the operation of our bridge, which is actively used by the Bitshares community.

We'll be shutting down the gateway in stages. In the first stage, which has just begun, we've disabled deposits to the gateway. Inevitably, someone may still use one of their old deposit addresses, in which case we'll manually refund them. We also request in this stage that anyone who holds TRADE assets to perform a withdrawal on those assets.

Eventually, we will also disable withdrawals as well, but I will leave in place a 1-1 market order on https://bitshares.openledger.info/market/OPEN.BTC_TRADE.BTC for a while after that to allow users to exchange any remaining TRADE.BTC for OPEN.BTC. I'll place similar orders for any other TRADE assets that remain outstanding after withdrawals are disabled.

best regards,

Dan Notestein

Hi all,

I'm traveling to Hong Kong for one week starting on Jan 13th, followed by one week in mainland China. I'll be handing out business cards while I'm there, of course, so I'd like to have a Chinese translation of this page that explains how BlockTrades operates:

https://blocktrades.us/about

Anyone interested in taking on this task? I know it's short notice, but I'd be happy to pay a reasonable fee for the translation (preferably via cryptocurrency). If you're interested, please reply below with an estimate of the job cost.

EDIT: Just a follow-up, I've found someone to do the translation.

Random Discussion / Re: Ban The Beave!

I'm terribly offended by your use of the offensive sexual term "beaver". I hope you get banned.

Edit: beaver has been banned (upon his request).

OpenLedger / Re: NSR deposit problem

Just to follow up, this issue was fixed yesterday.

What is going on with the price of the OL token? coinmarketcap.com has it down by 43%?
Someone sold ~1k shares into a high spread, low liquidity market. Now you can expect a big jump in the other direction as soon as there is a buyer.

Update: The worker is nearly voted in! We just need the support from @xeroc and we'll be over the threshold. It's odd that he hasn't voted yet, since he already posted about his approval:

As for chronos' worker, I'd like to see more videos and will vote for another worker.

Is anyone else able to reach him? He hasn't replied to private messages or logged onto these forums in the past week, which is a bit unusual.

Thank you, everyone!
IIRC, he is traveling at the moment.

Yes, noticed that Openledger working on their own gui and i like those changes. What about @svk? Do you know his plans?
I haven't spoken with him about it, so don't know. Hopefully he will create a new worker.

BTW we have 0 zero active workers right now.
While our Blockchain maintenance worker is no longer technically active, it's got a decent amount of BTS reserved there for future work as needed. As soon as we free up from our current work on peerplays prototype test net, we'll merge in the dividend feature we've added (assuming there's no objections).

As far as I know, OpenLedger is internally funding improvements to their version of the web wallet.
