thanks again I've used these steps already for the DAO tokens I created using the Mist client with the JSON file . But How do I convert the tokens on open ledger there should be some information regarding this from the
dev team . I can't keep users in the dark do you know of another contact ?  or maybe I should lookup my ETH address on daohub.org and check the balance and see if it works the same as the mist client ?
First, withdraw you OPEN.DAO to an Etherium wallet of your choice.

Next, follow instructions here (different instructions based on what wallet you choose): http://ethereum.stackexchange.com/questions/7204/how-do-i-convert-my-the-dao-tokens-into-ethers-using-the-withdrawal-contract-aft

I used Method 2. Be warned, the procedure is a bit involved for my taste.
Using the MyEtherWallet approach (method 1) sounds a lot easier and is probably the best approach, but I had a lot of DAO, so I was being very cautious.

Technical Support / Re: Don't understand how to install the wallet
« on: July 21, 2016, 06:40:53 pm »
the wallet is actually written in HTML/Javascript, that means you can open it up in a browser .. locally .. from from a remote host ..
either way, the private keys stay in your browser and are not sent to any server.

If you cannot protect your private keys, you shouldn't be in the crypto currency space.

It would be valuable to know if the gateway (such as openledger) have some sneaky opportunity to save credentials during account creation?
I think this would be the answer he/she seeks for.

For now we know that openledger officially doesn't store any credentials. But are they able to?
Yes, any given website such as openledger could modify the javascript code they deliver to capture credentials and this is a potential security hole, since the server hosting the web wallet pages could be hacked.

This is why it's safer to run the "light wallet" instead of using a web browser to access your funds. The light wallet is a frozen capture of the web wallet pages.

Back to answering the original question:
While creating a new account with light wallet, does the gateway have any chance of capturing the credentials?

The person asking the question wants to know how to safely store his/her BitShares investment.
The gateway cannot capture his credentials when using the light wallet.

How do we withdarw our DAO tokens for ETH since the hard fork is complete ?
I wasn't able to find any details on how to do the withdrawal in my quick seaches, so I suspect it may be a couple of days before it becomes easy to do.

Steem Dollars -> BTC is back. We also have SBD -> BTS, SBD -> OPEN.BTC, and SBD -> ETH.

Ok, we've worked around our problems with double detecting incoming deposits of Steem Dollars occasionally I think, so we've re-enabled SBD to Bitcoin conversions. For more details:

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: [Worker Proposal] Chronos Crypto videos

We're getting a lot of emails about how to use the new deposit/withdrawal pages, especially from new Steem users. All the current videos for this process are out of date I think, because of changes to the UI. Any chance you could get out a quick video on this subject?
That's exactly what's planned for this week! However, the worker just fell off the payroll again. Bitcoin volatility has nothing on BTS worker volatility!  :P

Fortunately, the proxy account that @bytemaster controls is enough to bring it solidly back into the green. Would you like to contact him and see if he'd like to support this work?

Thanks!
Finish it up this week anyways, and I'll make up the difference in Steem or bitshares, your preference.

I think we have an awesome opportunity to attract new Steem users to bitshares right now, and I don't want to waste the opportunity because of being penny-wise and pound-foolish.

Since at least yesterday it has not been possible to withdraw SBD for BTC via blocktrades.

I could not find an announcement about this, nor an estimate of the downtime for the pair - or indeed, whether this is permanent or not.

It's possible that I missed such an announcement completely.

A quick search over OpenLedger appears to reveal that they do not support SBD<->BTC either.

Any other options that you know of?
We disabled it because we've seen some bugs on receiving SBD. We're working on a solution now. I hope to have it operational some time tomorrow at the latest.

Update: the worker has been voted back in. You can expect the next video, Buying Bitshares the Easy Way, to be published this week.

Thank you for your support!

Just went to blocktrades.us and noticed a lot of the previous trading pairs are gone.  Can't even buy or trade bitshares.  Is this something temporary.  If not, what happened?
It's a temporary thing. We were having a lot of problem's processing a ton of steem buys after the price started exploding and we noticed the system was heavily loaded so we shut down all but the most active wallets temporarily to see if it would help. But it looks like the primary problem is just an issue in the steem wallet itself, so we'll be enabling the other wallets again soon).

It's good to see some of the pairs back now.  But are the missing ones like peercoin going to be back?
Yes, we'll be bringing back the others soon. Just been a very busy weekend...

General Discussion / Re: Prospectus for BlockTrades public offering
« on: July 17, 2016, 07:20:19 pm »
How's this project going?  :)
IPO is still in the works, but we keep getting distracted by other projects/tasks with tight deadlines. We're looking to hire 3 or 4 more programmers soon to help handle the workload.

Do you still work on the public offering?
Yes, but we're still planning to do it this year, but it's been delayed a bit by our work on Peerplays, OpenLedger gateways, and Steemit. We're hiring more people to handle the load, picked up two new guys so far, still looking to hire 2 more.

I am having trouble openledger after create new account and transfered funds.
Generally I am crome user but for test purpose, I created new account on microsoft edge browser.

the problem is that I could not save backup of wallet.  And it seems cash was cleared on microsoft edge browser.
Thant means I cannot access my wallet any more. The account/wallet have   some funds.

Anybody help me?

(If crome. I have no problem.)
I've never able to succesfully use Edge browser for BitShares. My best suggestion is to look for some tool that allows you to dump the data stored on the browser and see if your keys are there, and hope the cache hasn't been cleared.

General Discussion / Re: Buying BTS
« on: July 15, 2016, 08:51:05 pm »

I have clearly have no purchased BTS in a while because when i went to blocktrades to convert some BTC to BTS i discovered its not listed anymore. Meta exchange are closing their doors. Openledger in the wallet dont have BTS listed.

Where are other people doing to buy BTS?

Thanks
Michael
We had to temporarily disable a number of wallets due to loading problems. We've redistributed the load and re-enabled the Bitshares wallet, so you can once again buy BTS via https://blocktrades.us.

Perfect! Thank you Dan.
just an FYI - i dont see it just yet - i see Steem Litecoin and Ethereum only. I'll check later.
Yeah, the wallet keeps going on and offline for some reason. We're trying to figure out why now.

UPDATE: We've moved the wallet to a less loaded system and I'm happy to report that so far it seems to be holding up well.
