General Discussion / Re: Price Feed Review
« on: May 10, 2019, 07:40:26 am »
Of course you need to have reasonable configuration. But surely, if a single witness publishes a feed that is 5% (or more) away from feed price, the proxy should at least be notified.

Unvoting a witnesses can be justified when the last feed was older than 2 days, or when he doesn't follow consensus when it comes to MSSR or MCR.

I wrote this code in my spare time, as usual ..
I can't imagine what logic can be used to implement disapprove witness automaticly based on the feed price.
it's unresponsoble to vote witness automaticly by proxy, if somebody did this, please let me know.
BTW, did this development pay by worker income?

While we are at it, I started working on a python project that is supposed to automatically disapprove (unvote) witnesses that provide inaccurate feeds (relative to price feed) here:

https://github.com/xeroc/witness-monitor

Any development resources to improve that would be welcome.

General Discussion / Re: WARNING: workers.bitshares.foundation

I've checked the account, the last trade was roughly 50k bitCNY for an average price of 2.84 CNY / BTS.

Can you elaborate? Do you mean the market was too thin to buy that much? I did not see a dent in the order book. I assume bitCNY were bought to payout incoming invoices.

This is price which put into the market, maybe you get an average price of 2.84 CNY / BTS.

This is not a normal market behavior, the workers.bitshares.foundation was dumping the market.

Give the payment with smartcoin i didn't think it's a good idea, the BTS was the base coin of BitShares.

The price that is shown in the picture only reflects the "LIMIT" at which an order would be filled.
We will investigate why it was so far way from last trade, either way, the trades that actually executed were by far not that much away from last-trade.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: [Worker] Integration of BTS with Wirex
« on: May 04, 2019, 08:03:16 am »
I will not support this worker until can get more data analize about how much value this could give us.
there are no reason to pay for listing in a nobody use service, such as all fake volume exchange.
I doubt that "no body use" is a fair assessment for wirex, but i also do not yet have material at hand to prove otherwise.

Thanks for looking into the worker and providing your opinion.

can you provide the information about:
1. how many money did other community like Bitcoin Litecoin, dai etc pay for the listing?
2. how many real users did people use Bitcoin in wirex? LItecoin? Dai?
because I just searched that users need to pay 3% fees when use crypto current desposit fund. I doubt this could be accept by most people.
1. In short, we don't know. What can be told is that the price offered to the community is significantly less than what the initial offer was due to weeks-long negotiations
2. I do not know. The point is, if the community choses not to be listed, it will be 0 - exactly 0. How long it will take for the market to accept the wirex card and users to use it for BTS - that's something only the market can decide. That's also why there are no promises made, it's a simple listing on a credit card provider. People are free to use it, or not.

We now have a Chinese translation of the worker proposal:

General Discussion / Re: MARGIN CALL

I don't see how an intermediate fund would make a difference (or how exactly this would work in the first place).
There is quite some discussion about this on telegram, lead by @clockwork. I'd like to see his proposal put on paper so there is something to discuss.

These endless discussion here on the forum where people try to tune individual parameters for what ever reason is counterproductive, IMHO

Will get now some offical proposals from which we can pick which fits best for our needs.

More detailed info will be later shared with the committee
AWESOME!

1) Write a BSIP
2) Get it approved
3) Get it implemented
4) Upgrade BitShares

This thread is a prime example of kindergarden: grown-ups using personal attacks and vague, unproven claims.
Calm down, sort your arguments, support them with proves, then come back.

I am locking this thread.

@roelandp: The private keys don't leave beet. For authentication on bitshares.eu using BEET, a message (random token) is signed. The signed message is returned and evaluated at the server. If the signature matches the user that tries to sign in, the server grants access to the account.
Oauth2 works on top of that login process.

Again, the key never leaves the BEET app and bitshares.eu never sees your keys.

Thanks for making that connection.

Really looking forward to your project!

I would argue we all learn from mistakes, and that's happening here too.
The risk of BSIP42 was taken, and it didn't work out. I too see how good reasons can lead to BSIP42 and the risks have been addressed and accepted by the voters (me included). That was a mistake and would have been declared as such at that time IF we had known about the upcoming bear market.
Causality ...

Today, we all agree that the way BSIP42 was implemented didn't work out. The root concept of a feedback loop is still sound, we just need
to find better means.

So, let's not get into personal attacks and instead figure out a new approach constructively.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: [Witness Proposal] gdex-witnness
« on: April 26, 2019, 05:59:30 am »
Tough question actually. Why would they vote for anyone they don't know?
Also, BitShares-core comes with a lower limit of 11 witnesses - can't go below that.
Would you vote for a witness and committee member who uses BTS from an exchange wallet to vote only for 2 witnesses for the entire bitshares ecosystem ?

Bitcrab is currently voting with the BTS in ZB's wallet that the whole bitshares ecosystem should only have 2 witnesses in total.

Is he doing a good job with that voting ?
