I wasn't a scammer.

I gave up on BItshares when I spend a full day trying to unlock my angelshares crap. I came away with the impression it was broken. Dan put all that effort into the merge or whatever, then no documentation on how to declare your shares. It appears to be broken. Meh, I'm too busy these days to pursue it further. Could have given the keys to xeroc but I don't even know if the balance makes it worth it.

I remember hearing Dan sounding giddy with the idea of his supply manipulation in Steem. His true colors really came out for me at that moment.

I can't figure out Dan completely, but one thing for sure is he doesn't give 1 fuck who he screws over.

There are so many stories.. before Newmine there was Adam Levine. (I think thats his name?.. he has a podcast?)  I probably was 80% of what chased him off, when he was warning us about Dan.  Unfortunately he had some bad ideas himself, so it didn't help his credibility in my eyes. I sold some crypto equities that ended up being worth 300k later, to buy into BTS (although there is a little bit momre to why I sold them). lmao @ my fanboy biases.

I might be wrong in this but in some old notes I have, it seems that first I used the 0.9.2 version to import the protoshares dat file and then installed the 0.9.3c version to export

This is interesting. I really don't want to try and downgrade software on a dead chain. Ugh I was hoping a better answer. Maybe I'll look around on the wiki some more.. At this point I can pull out the donation addresses and private key. I just don't want write code to spit out the WIF keys .. Unfortunately waiting to do this at once instead of earlier was probably is probably a mistake since all the documentation I need is in digital graveyards and this place has thinned out. lol

So I have a "backup" from protoshares program which is a wallet.dat.  When you go to import wallet's into BItshares 0.93 it only looks for .json. Well I give it the name to the .dat file and Bitshares 0.93 crashes. I think if I can figure out this last little bit we can get there.  I've read through a few pages of thread titles and subsequent threads .. it seems I am missing something.

So problem is PTS -> wallet.dat
wallet.dat -> BItshares 0.93.  Does bitshares have a custom command for this ?

So I determined that the missing assets are probably in keys that never made it to my BTS wallet. I found my PTS wallet and loaded it up and I see my AGS donations. The problem now is where is the PTS wallet -> BTS documentation?  Do I import the PTS wallet into BItsahres.93 then export from there ?

It'd be nice to get this for the PEERPLAYS sharedrop, so I'm trying to keep up on top of this.

-Update - I did find this https://web.archive.org/web/20150111184944/http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/Main_Page  I can probably write a script that will take the address from each transaction etc but then I still have to massage it into a WIF and I'm not sure what the Protoshares network constants are. There has to be an easier way.

Does your wallet service do protoshares ?  @xeroc

Not sure what you mean by "searching for missing keys" ... can you elaborate?

Shameless plug about my 3rd party recovery service:

If you really can't figure it out and are willing to compromise accounts .. you can go that route ..

Well I have my accounts imported into 2.0 but somewhere my AGS donations largely seem to have went away. Many things could have happened so I'm not blaming any one thing. I can look around more for different backups but I'd expect it to be this one.

During BTSX we used to give this solution.

Quote from: From some other post
So, I was able to get all the BitAssets accounted for, by following the advice on other threads here.  iirc, i first issued a:
wallet_regenerate_keys [ACCOUNT-NAME] 10500
then:
wallet_rescan_blockchain <block_number before my missing BitAssets transactions, i used something from late February, eg 1850000>

My takeaway from this thread has been that the above is still feasible in 2.0 ?  (No?)

I have a witness_node running+synched and thought maybe I'd be able to use the cli, but it is giving me some transport error. Maybe I need to turn the RPC on, I haven't messed with it a lot once I saw it was the same thing as a server over the internet.

So next step is to figure out how to import this .bin backup into my local cli.  This .bin is what I got from my 1 sucessful import where it found previous account names with no errors. So now I want to reimport it to my cli and try a command "wallet_rescan_blockchain".  I'm not holding my breath but I still think it is worth the effort.

PS I have no issue sending you the .bin with the imported accounts, but now I am using the account for other things. Unfortunetly I don't think there are any extra steps you could try ?

6
It took me a bit to find the CLI. I had to go back in the github a few pages to find a release that was not labeled GUI. Then after installing it, I had to track down the binary.

I downloaded the blockchain and have a witness_node.exe running. I assume the cli will work now. One thing I haven't been able to find is the commands to look for missing keys. The search feature on this forum is pretty dated.

PS. Xeroc - I'm trying to be more positive in this message. Seriously you do great work. BitShares gained huge when you came onboard in the early days. Maybe there is still hope for me to find my missing BTS.

So I decided to grab most of the BTS finally. I find what I believe was my last wallet. It imported account names but very few BTS. Something is wrong.

Most of my AGS was donated post BTSX sharedrop. They were all out of my PTS wallet. I do have some PTS wallets sitting around, but this is like a days of headaches just to maybe get what isn't all that much $$. Is there any path forward from here ? Previously there was a command to generate forgotten keys. Does that exist in 2.0 ??

All those 3rd party slots are "provably fair" ?  Really?

So the marketcap valuation of this ICO is ~ 5.8 million USD or is my math wrong?  For licensed software?  SO they're not using BTC, but they're using their own tokens... which has no guarantee you can sell them for the price you purchased?

Not trying to be a hater, just started following ICOs more closely recently and trying to wrap my head around this and see if it makes any sense.

The Truth About Mark Lyford and Banx >> https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@MarkLyford/the-truth-about-mark-lyford-and-banx

URL doesn't seem to work. Even with a direct copy and paste. Maybe double check it ? Maybe I'm screwing it up..

I am still active on BitShares but I am not the right guy to do the marketing .. simple because I don't run a business on top of BitShares .. it's the job of those that profit from providing the exchange features to the people that should look into marketing it properly ..

BitShares as a project was quite lucky to have you as a supporter.  From my limited observations on the project you've brought as much professionalism as any other single person.

I just remember back previously, there'd be someone going around on here trying to rally the troops to make others know about the BItShares DEX.

Kinda funny.  The DEX seems to work fairly well. At least when I was using it for ETH crowdsale tokens, but I no longer see people pushing BitShares...

Although with these IOU/gateway system, I'm not sure it solves the core problem of exchanges, but more to the point it appears people have more or less given up.

Thoughts?

I suppose that was my mistake in having an open conversation with you.

My apologies for setting of your radar.

No worries.  It wasn't much of a conversation which is what made it stand out even more. I'd never seen legitimate monied people talk like that. Still haven't. Glad to see one be so open about their finances.

Not sure what I am thinking in regards to the 2k requested for the marketing thing. It was something that'd allow them to publish directly to publications in the interest of Bitshares. A noble goal to be sure, but it seemed to sort of disappear when they were asked to provide their real name from the community. Probably my memory failing me, although in general it is pretty good.

Cheers.

edit - Also I never ever called you a scammer. That is your  doing. I didn't even imply it. I have no reason to think you are a scammer, just that you are a <ahem> a bit suspect. Honestly I had always wondered who you were since I was familiar with everyone at that convention that was involved with BitShares. I guessed you were Murderistic, but never knew until that picture was posted with you in.  Anyway, good luck on your endeavors and spreading blockchain technology to the gambling world out of the kindness of your heart.

I provided a name, and I belive a few others stood for me, but the vitriol displayed seemed to dissuade me from even attempting to reason with people.

I appreciate the comment, though it seems not genuine - "good luck - out of the kindness of your heart."

Save it if you are going to pretend you care @gamey.

ps - re: scam reread your comments, you said scam, scammy, etc  that's enough. and you know it.

pps - this forum is like my teenage son, it stinks - it doesn't know what it wants, it's unstable and generally unreliable.

I said "I wrote you off as a fraud".  I didn't say anything about your specific actions in business just as how you came across to me. I didn't use scam, scamming or whatever. Again, those are your words. I have reread what I said more than once now.  You can keep trying to rewrite what is going on, but I honestly have no reason to think you're a scammer. I didn't know who you were. You were just some dude with arm tats telling me how he made an easy million.

I personally don't care, it is just that this was finally solved for me. That dude is Murderistic. Nothing more. I should have just kept my mouth quiet.

I'm not sure about this forum, back in the day it was quite a useful place although I will admit some passion was misplaced by users at times. It is an easy scapegoat, and has always been that way with certain types. I'm seeing it here.. pathetic.

I'm sure you're a smart guy and good at whatever marketing type stuff you do.  For real. I was poking fun about you about the gambling project that was for the good of mankind, but that was your spin.... now you act all hurt. Epic.

LOL.

We all know why this community here is toxic - it begins with the general attitude displayed in your comments - and your friends.

Not playful.

Either way, enjoy knowing everything - this "fraudster" paid $10,000+ to advertisers and referrers that brought over 1k new people to steemit today.

People who don't like truth/transparency do not like this forum. That doesn't make it toxic. There has been tons of good stuff on this forum. Just that when people don't like what they're reading, they blame the forum.

Really you strike me as a petty man. Going around bragging about money issues still. Good stuff.

I have little in BitShares and nothing in Steem. I'm glad Steem has taken off, just because I like some of the people in that community and like to see nice people do well.
