Brian Page gives a nice discussion about what he is working on.  Definitely worth listening if you want to get away from Dan and our beloved techno-babble.   It is great to hear the other side.  :)  Lets see what the Bitshares funding model has opened up for us.

Brian has a definite plan and has made some key connections to to see the plan in motion.

General Discussion / Articles for use by bitshares.org
« on: August 13, 2014, 04:22:54 am »
Ok there is some definite lack of clarity on bitshares.org. (By clarity I mean it is hard to google SEO optimize.  It doesn't have landing pages on basic subjects etc.)  I could try and write some but I'm not a writer and therefore inefficient.

Here are some articles very much needed IMO.

POW
POS
Bitcoin
Blockchain

I could take a first crack at them, then if we use community to refine my writing.  Better yet, someone who understands a subject could take the first crack at it. :)  Even an outline of approach would be good for starters.

The idea here is to have best in class articles that are the eventual landing point for bitshares X and the ecosystem.  They need to be both informative and have some level of sales pitch.  So we give an overview of the subject but the article steers towards towards Bitshares X.

We do not need low level details or any in depth explanations.  Simple and clear analogies that are helpful seem reasonable.  This is stuff for the average joe.

What do you guys think is best for collaborate editting? I will go with google docs.

In order to attempt to get the ball rolling I will start off with some outlines.

Thoughts?  Who wants to help Bitshares kick some google ranking butt ?

There is a real problem finding people who can do this work and write well at the same time.  A lot of us can do one or the other.  I think this sort of thing we can all do together and have the best articles for a lot of the basic technologies.  Bitshares has a lot unique perspectives that I think are an evolution of the typical current thoughts.

Once we have this, then we can perhaps work backwards and get these articles link juice, etc.

I'll go write up a google doc on this tonight and get a link posted.

General Discussion / Demographics to approach for Bitshares X.
« on: August 05, 2014, 08:16:13 pm »

Ok so I was wondering about demographics that would be key to the success of Bitshares X.  I can think of 3 broad categories.  There will be some overlap between them, but these are my thoughts.

1) Day traders and traders in general.  These aren't guys that will sit on BTSX and wait for it to appreciate.  These are the people that are needed for this grand experiment work.  There has to be countless forums etc where active traders congregate.  From FOREX to traditional stock exchanges.  The idea would be to get a few people started with hopefully smaller amounts.  If they talk more about using it, then the more it will row.  These are not crypto people or those who have an strong distrust in USD.  These are guys already playing a similar game and we want to migrate them to Bitshares X.  It will take baby steps, but this is by far the most important demographic in my mind.

2) People who distrust USD and wish for a hedge.  The main problem I see is that these people also do not trust crypto.  They're also preparing for the end of the world type scenarios, so this makes the distrust even more strong as BTSX relies on a functional internet.  I do think there is some ground that could be had.  These people don't trust the US government so TITAN can be pushed as a feature.

3) Crypto people.  I think these are the people we'll get by default with the current marketing (at least what I am aware of).  It will be basically people we take from BTC or NXT, etc.

Any others ?

Also, this is a bit of a read but it is an interesting case with a lot to be learned.   http://www.nytimes.com/2001/02/25/magazine/jonathan-lebed-s-extracurricular-activities.html

Sorry for multiple postings, but just want to make sure those who read specific forums will come across this message.  This is mainly meant for Keyhotee users anyway.

KeyID / [ANN] Keyhotee users and Delegate requests for KeyID.
« on: August 05, 2014, 06:19:06 pm »

73
Hello Bitshares fans and users !  I have been asked to help Toast with the name migration to the new DNS DAC.  Since Toast and the devs are quite busy, I will be working to keep the name migration straight with a result that will make everyone happy.

Here are the basic rules.

All BTSX delegate names will be put inside the new DNS KeyID chain.
- Unless the owner wishes to substitute out a new name
- Unless this name is an existing Keyhotee name

All Keyhotee IDs will be put inside the new DNS KeyID chain by default if the name is legal. [1]
- Unless a substitution request is made.

[1] If the name can be made legal by changing all characters into lowercase this will happen in absence of a requested substitution.

A legal name is a name consisting of standard alpha-character without accents, or numbers, or dashes.  The name can not begin with a number.  The name can not begin or end in a dash.  The length is 1 to 63 letters inclusive.  (These are the same rules for traditional DNS system.)

Please post all substitution requests in this thread.  Also the above rules are not binding.  For instance, a Keyhotee substitution request that conflicts with a BTSX delegate may be decided on a case by case basis by Toast.  I personally do not see this as a likely problem, only possible.  Other behavior seen to be abusive or not in the spirit of this enterprise may not be honored.  This process is mainly meant for Keyhotee founders.

Toast edit: requests from this thread will be counted: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=6170.0

An initial attempt at listing the wallet commands you are actually likely to use.  Meant for command line interface (CLI) users.

This is the wiki maintained by the developers.  They're very busy getting stuff done, so it can be a bit out of date in places.  It is the best place to start if you want to do development related to Bitshares.

Stakeholder Proposals / friendsofbtsx
« on: July 30, 2014, 08:02:46 am »
Ok I've setup a delegate.  It is on a dedicated VPS.  I haven't much to say but I was the first guy to try to partner with other non-technical delegates.

I'd like to say how I have planned on various marketing campaigns but I am not so sure I wish to make plans public nor do the current profits even begin to justify a long explanation of my plans. :(

If this delegate works it will be the first of a few more where I help less technically inclined people who have shown early dedication to the BitShares ecosystem.  Much like Toast's Delegate consulting firm.

I've had jobs with roles as sys-admin before and know my way around linux quite well.

Thats about it.  Please get me elected !

This is also required to help me work on documentation of the process.  See https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=6404.0
