And I think about each time I thought I'd lost my investment... Happy I just bought more when they were dirt cheap!

HODL!

Next step is 1bn market cap! Will it happen? If so, when?! Bets are open!

Buy bitBTC or OPEN.BTC.  I'm guessing the alt coin pump is coming to an end and bitcoin will probably bounce back to having %75-%80 market cap dominance.

Other than Xeroc's worker, there hasn't been anything really of note to get super bullish on BTS (I'm sure someone will post a huge list of all the great things coming for bts).  It's the same story with most of the other alts.  Random pumps.

Trolls can recognized by the fact they are hanging around on fora of coins they like to buy for lower prices and because of that spreading the word out that these coins are not going to rise any further, but instead will decline in value. Often this is because they are frustrated of missing out a first pump. They tell you to buy BTC instead, so when the alt coin (in this case BTS) starts rising again, you can easily convert back and boost the price even more for the troll, who has by then bought his stake against a lower price. @lil_jay890 seems a perfect example.

Calling someone a troll because they have a negative view of a financial instrument that you are long isn't an argument... It's an attempt to self-reinforce your own bias.

The whole "people are just talking negative so they can drive down the price to buy at lower prices" argument is BS.  Even with BTS getting in on the everything Alt pump, it's been bumping along the bottom of its range for years.  If this alt coin pump dies out, what do you think the odds are that BTS stays elevated?  I would say it's not very likely since BTS still has many of the same issues that IMO have caused it to fall.

Granted I'm not surprised a guy with 7 forum posts and who just created his account 2 weeks ago  is all bullish... You probably just bought in and were chasing the pump.

There's definitely a risk that Bitshares will follow the other alts if the pump dies out and turn into a dump.

I'm not exactly sure what's happening (and I won't complain), but except the general pump every alt coin has been through, is there any rational explanation for the current Bitshares bull run?

And the question I still don't have an answer for is: Is it sustainable??

Personally I would prefer to incentivize shorting rather than using the reserve pool to short bitUSD. The only reason is that it will reduce BTS in circulation and help to increase market cap. A higher market cap gives the opportunity to fund more worker projects with less dilution. All in all it's a win win situation.

How to incentivise shorting bitUSD? I believe the whole discussion should evolve around that question. It can be done by changing the rules (which would require a hard fork, which is inconvenient, but feasable), or by changing the parameters, as it was done with bitCNY, all thanks to bitcrab.

Thoughts?

I find it really interesting to see that for the last week there was sustained volume on exchanges and that as soon the price drops a little too much, buyers are ready to jump in.

It's too early to predict anything, but I like what I'm seeing!

I must admit Steem's success is most probably having a positive impact on the demand for Bitshares. Let's see if this trend holds.

I'm sure some people from the Bitshares community who are seriously invested in Steemit are playing their part in maintaining those relatively high volumes

Looks like we may hit 0.01$ / BTS soon ... ( according to my total noob trader talent  :P )

Haha I like it! (Says the guy who doesn't know a damn thing about technical analysis)

At this rate BTS should hit the 0.10$ mark in 2025 lol :P

Technical Support / Re: The case for bitGOLD and bitSILVER
« on: July 15, 2016, 11:23:02 pm »
Are there any liquidity bots that a non-technical user like myself could run? Doesn't even need to make a profit, just not lose value.

And by non-technical I mean type in the the amount of BTS, choose the market and click go.

Click stop and the BTS go back into your account.

If providing liquidity was this simple I'll bet a lot of folks, including myself, would provide a lot of liquidity to bootstap the markets.

The problem is, it is not that simple. And risk of loss is very high in volatile markets.

If there was a liquidity pool that interested parties could throw funds into, then non-technical people could easily participate.  As for market risk, this would be mitigated if we offered liquidity rewards that the pool (or any liquidity provider for that matter) could earn.  Such risk could be further mitigated (and therefore more funds attracted to participate in the pool) if we used some of the burn worker funds to pay interest to anyone participating in the pool.  We should really try something like this.  Now is the time.

I would gladly throw some of my funds into market making pools for bitUSD, bitGold and bitSilver. But who is experienced enough to manage such pools? It seems like somebody is doing a good job making bitCNY:BTS liquidity. Can those guys do the same for other markets?

I would be in too. I have no plan of selling any BTS for a while, so helping to bootstrap liquidity is definitely something I would be interested into. It would be nice to see as much action on the bitUSD market as there is currently on the bitCNY market.

Fuck Dan!

And Fuck Steem!

Oops, sorry,

Weren't we all just bitching about Dan and STEEM?

Lol, he made many people happy, and some quite wealthy in the last couple of weeks, particularly those who followed and invested in STEEM right from the beginning. I'm not one of them, and I won't be bitching about that for sure, because that's how life works.

I do believe what's happening with STEEM will increase awareness about Bitshares. I still don't know how it will improve trading on the DEX and the market cap in the long term though.

Exciting times ahead!

What I don't understand is how come almost 20% of market cap of BTS get traded in 24h and the price don't seem to move that much? Are there that many people that are only waiting for the price to rise to dump their BTS? It really looks similar to the other pumps that were stopped right from the beginning by dumpers

Looks like this Steem bull run might be good for Bitshares after all...

I would be willing to lend at least 0.5 BTC worth of Bitshares for the market maker bots initiative.

It's nice to see that you are so enthousiast about Bitshares future... But except speculation, why do you believe it will be worth that much? Except the tech of course, cause history has shown us it doesn't mean anything (BTS would be worth much more of it were solely valued on the tech behind it)

What I find hard to digest is the fact that the founder of Bitshares doesn't have the ability to get the project done before getting bored and moving his attention somewhere else more interesting.

Some may argue that the proof of concept has been done and a working product is online. Yep, that is true. But I didn't invest in a proof of concept, or a MVP. I invested in a potentially incredible project that needed to be worked on over a long period of time to unlock its true potential. A true leader would have made arrangements to make sure there is a capable successor to take over the leadership of the project. Even if it's decentralized, it still need a leader who inspires people to take action independently. I believe I've read this somewhere in the forum and it sums up really well what I think, but I feel like if BM was a kid and Bitshares was his toy and then he got bored of the toy and moved to another one more shiny and more interesting. The only issue here is that we're in a grown up world, with people who invested real money in the tech, and also in the team behind the tech. There's no accountability to shareholders, and I find it really disappointing.

Anyway, I know there are a lot of projects moving forward using the current tech as it is, and that is why I still keep a position in Bitshares in the hope at some point one of them will be sufficiently successful to increase transactions and smartcoins use. But nonetheless I have to say I'm very disappointed with the behavior of the development team, leaving to another project just when things were starting to move. I guess some major shareholders voting against any and all dilution projects may have had an influence, I don't know.

Before I was in Bitshares with high hopes of great things to come, now I'm clinging on my stake in the hope I'll be able to recuperate my initial investment. I don't know if that will ever happen.
