Brian & Co. should be reaching out to the Reddit folks.

There is literally no better exposure to a crucial BTSX target demographic than a deal with Reddit.

I3 could contribute development time/funds as required to build a bespoke solution.

This is an incredible opportunity that should not be missed!

I can't imagine how many users this would bring in.

I hope BM sees value in this

General Discussion / Re: BitUSD currently paying more than 1.5% APR

I would be very skeptical of anyone offering me 5% to hold USD - what's the catch?

And that would be my cue to explain DACs. .... after that it's all numbers; 5% is greater than 1.5%, which is greater than 0.25%, no matter how you slice it

The 100 bitUSD I've been holding for little more than a week has produced a yield that also projects to come in at 1.5% APR

There had been speculation on your part of a 5% (or greater) APR for holding bitAssets.  Is this no longer a likely scenario?

General Discussion / Pennsylvania/Maryland meet up?
« on: September 29, 2014, 02:55:10 pm »
Pleasure meeting both of you.

Looking forward to another.  And perhaps there can be a NYC meetup in the meantime, if there's some contingency in that area

Anyone else interested we are heading to the Craft House Beer Garden in Cherryhill, NJ at 3pm. All are welcome. Send me a PM if you're coming and I'll help you find our table.

Looks like the meet up is a little closer now, so I'm down too.

I just listened to the most recent Beyond Bitcoin mumble session  +5%

And I think the OP's comment relates to the point Dan made about upgrading the BTS toolkit to allow the DAC to issue shares, which as a result would allow the DAC to raise capital for development and marketing.  It would cause some degree of inflation, which some investors may see as an issue.

After hearing Bytemaster talk thru the implementation and the benefits it could provide, I think it's clear that the strongest possible DAC is one that can issue shares to raise capital if the shareholders vote to determine that it is the best course of action.

One reason this would lead to a strongest possible DAC ties right into the OP.  DACs need money - an outside party with 30MM might be a threat to current BTSX implementation, but it would be much less of a threat if BTSX could issue shares to raise money to hire more developers and marketers, which would allow BTSX to combat competition.

Sorry if any typos -- too late in the evening to read thru ..

Technical Support / Re: How to profit from Music DAC Snapshot

PTS may fall after a snap shot(see Stan's blog post: Watch for falling PTS), and your gains on investment may only be realized when BTS music is up and running weeks or months later..

Who's Stan, & where's his blog?

I had the same idea that 'music' might take awhile to gain value. So maybe that won't be part of what I do.

Right now the money I have in PTS was what I had in mind to use to incorporate a business I want to start. I might still want to do that, & I'm hoping I can make $100 or so on the PTS spike, if it materializes.

...Always on the lookout for a side job.

See the BitShares.org blog. .. Lots of other gems there too

Technical Support / How to profit from Music DAC Snapshot
« on: September 28, 2014, 12:00:26 am »
I will not use my rent money for investments... but that is just me.

Yeah, I know it's a bad idea. I was hesitant to even ask, but I would if it were a sure bet at a serious profit.

PTS may fall after a snap shot(see Stan's blog post: Watch for falling PTS), and your gains on investment may only be realized when BTS music is up and running weeks or months later.. I would not bet the rent money, but if I were you I would maybe pick up a weekend gig to be able to throw down another couple hundos

BM, how much could BTSX benefit from more resources? (Assume there is not a clone with 30MM waiting in the wings)

Hmm. I'm a bit shocked by Nubit's volume.. I am not sure what to make of it.

http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/nubits/#markets

http://coinmarketcap.com/assets/bitusd/#markets

I am puzzled seeing as though I think BitsharesX is a better solution.. less prone to manipulation just vote out delegates if they act up with their price feeds (Nushareholders holders can't be ousted for manipulating interest rates or printing of money)... more fair distribution and release (AGS/PTS vs internal funding, even now u have to message the dev and give him a reason why u should be able to buy Nushares)... bitUSD has collateral ( Nubits are Non collateralized and can be printed by Nusharesholders)... set free market dynamics that don't change after we get them right (vs Nusharesholders adjusting interest rates and printing money)... Nothing like the Feds (Nushares similar to the Feds.)

What am I missing? Is it because they are on more exchanges? Because it's new and people want to mess around with it? Marketing? Long time Peercoiners support that will fade away eventually once they run out of crypto/capital?

Theyve done more marketing

General Discussion / NuBits Scam
« on: September 24, 2014, 11:01:17 am »
After NuBits was exposed to the world, Dan Larimer saw it for the ponzi scam that it really is. His analysis should be here at the top of a thread and perhaps parked in the NuBits section..  Hopefully we don't see anyone taken advantage of

... it all depends upon trust in a central authority to perform market intervention to buy back NuBits.....

This is not accurate.

There is no central authority and there is no need to buy back NuBits to support the price when demand is in decline. Instead, shareholders spread throughout the world can vote to provide incentives to hold NuBits by offering interest rates on parked NuBits.

Delayed inflation dependent upon continual growth to prevent losing all value.

Tell me this...  If the dollar was loosing value and the us government decided they would prop it up by paying interest via inflation would you lock your savings away in a cd hoping that the interest earned would outpace the very inflation it creates?

Would you trust the fed to buy back dollars with their assets to stop inflation.

I don't throw around the ponzi accusation lightly, but nubits is the first crypto I have seen that fits the description.

Propping up demand by increasing future supply hoping to sucker in a greater fool with the promise of more unbacked assets.

Sooner or later you run out of suckers willing to hold out for increased future demand at any interest rate.

How many dedicated people do we have on the marketing team?

It would be nice to start making a push into all demographics at the Vegas conference
