Technical Support / Re: Issues importing Multibit wallet [RESOLVED]
« on: August 25, 2014, 10:18:26 pm »
I just wanted to update this thread to say that importing the Multibit wallet doesn't work; however, it's very easy to import your private key using the provided file.  Just open the file and copy-and-paste your key into the "Import Private Key" line and VOILA!

I was silly not to do this sooner!

I tried this but there is an "Error parsing WIF private key".   I entered " file:///C:/Users.....lemons.key "  with rescan blockchain checked.  There was no password protection on the .key file either

How did you get around this?

Okay, ever since I tried to rescan the blockchain, I have had to close and reopen the client several times, however, the client is only getting anywhere from 3% to 18% before losing connection.  It does not seem I'll be able to rescan the entire transaction history.  Wondering how long this usually takes and if others run into the same issue.

What can I do to fix this?

General Discussion / Re: Blindfold Trading
« on: August 22, 2014, 10:04:03 pm »
I knew nothing about bitshares before noticing high volume trading on the BTER exchange last week. Within 15 minutes I put all my Bitcoin into bitshares and watched in disbelief. Buy walls of 25 bitcoin remained untouched. Sell walls being consumed in seconds.

Before going to sleep last night I picked a high value sale price for my bitshares, not really expecting it could rise so abruptly (unless I was awake and saw it happening with my own lying eyes).

Needless to say the bitshares had been sold when I woke up, presenting me with a mixture of delight and concern. How to get back on the runaway train...at a higher price.

Moving away momentarily from the arguably shallow world of trading for profit which I unashamedly inhabit, having profited in the interregnum despite ignorance of the underlying value the price was actually purchasing, I think I can see where this is going now. I am going to hold on to my bitshares. I reasonably believe you guys have acheived something remarkable. Bitshares may actually exceed the value of Bitcoin at some point. But even if they do not do so, prices of 0.05 BTC per bitshare are not merely possible. I think them ultimately inevitable. Thank you for making a trader oblivious to your ingenuity more money than he deserved.

Tell your friends!

I am having the same issue, "Sever network problems / Not connected"

Thinking outloud here.  We need to just move away from centralized exchanges, then would there perhaps end up being two or three prominent decentralized exchanges?  Thefts will of course happen but not from the exchanges if they are decentralized...  Think BitBtsX ...

BM, Can you weigh in on the liklihood of this migration happening?

Also, let's say Bitcoin is migrated to DPOS tomorrow: this would be good or bad for AGS/PTS holders??

Ok, resolved.  Some of Riverhead's posts from about a year ago really walked me thru the process. Thanks!

What would we need for such a venture?  :)

Honestly once you have something like FileCoin/StorJ/MaidSAFE that actually offers reliable storage, all the chains can just live on the cloud. Then cross-chain transactions will be a no-brainer.

Storage is what's getting in the way of atomic cross chain trading? Can you elaborate, not sure I follow
