General Discussion / Varoufakis - Bitcoin and Bitshares

Today in "Proto Thema" newspaper (very popular newspaper in Greece) there was an extensive article about Varoufakis being a business consultant (partner) for Singapore's Bitcoin Tembusu. The article mentions that he already has a team of people ready to create a cryptocurrency like bitcoin, issued by the Greek Government, that could help the Government get financed by mostly its citizens and corporations in return to tax credits. The last time I saw an article in a Greek newspaper about bitcoin, the prize went from $200 - $1000.

I think they do not need to create from scratch another altcoin , Greek IOU cryptocurrency but they could simple issue the relevant bitasset in bitshares exchange. I have posted in his blog a couple of months ago about bitshares but my posts (replies in his articles) were not published. I do not have good communications skills and many times people just don't even understand what I am saying.

Maybe it would be worth if a dev or anyone else can approach him and post in his blog about what Bitshares could do for Greece and even post a business plan or proposition.Even if the reply to a post is not published, I am pretty sure that he will read it.

General Discussion / Trade everything without price feeds from delegates

I am sure this has been thought and discussed but I will ask anyway...

The system (or a user or whoever) creates i.e. Facebook stock.
One can trade this stock only at opening and closing price (for simplicity)..
Price is automatically updated in the BTS exchange taking the opening and closing price published in yahoo finance, if this is down from reuters, if this is down from bloomberg or whichever other centralized provider the BTS shareholders decide in advance.

Everyone now can trade all the stocks, indices, anything from anywhere with a decentralized platform in bitassets. Put some BTS in collateral and get some margin trading with leverage.

What is stopping us and we don't do something like this? Sooner or later someone else is going to do this..

General Discussion / Why no one is shorting bitassets?

I am curious as to why nobody is shorting bitusd etc at these price and with all the discussions about bitassets 1,2,3 I am afraid I may have misunderstood something...So please if I am missing something here please someone let me know before I lose all my BTS from shorting...

Is it:

People don't short because they believe BTS will further fall? or
People don't short because once bitasset 3 and bond market gets implemented everyone who shorts bitusd v1 will lose all his BTS?

General Discussion / When are we going to change things?

I understand that finally there are some discussions to change some things in bitshares in regards to short bitassets rules etc... When do we estimate these things to change? I mainly ask because I want to convert some usd to bitusd but as things are now, if I do that I will take a haircut of c10% on my usd which of course isn't the best investment option..

I showed bitshares and bitassets to some new people who are very interested to invest and when they realize that they will lose c10% on their fiat value (usd ==> btcbitfinex==>metaexchange==>bitusd) instantly they laugh..Please change things as soon as possible (not after

month) or we will lose new investors and once you lose your audience there is no coming back...

It appears that Ripple will support just fine the existing system. Bitcoin whales should just move to Bitshares..

Technical Support / No collateral released and order no canceled

Hi,

2 problems please advise:

1. On GUI windows I am trying to cancel a sell order of NOTES and the client says cancelling but the order is not cancelled. I have been trying to do this since yesterday..All the other cancel orders in the other markets (bitusd, bitbtc, bitgld etc are working fine). Is there a way I can cancel the order by typing something in the console or something else?

2. A short bitusd order has expired. On the dashboard it appears as a payment of debt it shows like the bitusd were bought to cover the debt but no BTS collateral is released. The system should buy the bitusd, repay the debt and release the remaining but I see zero BTS on the account!!

Point 2 especially worries me so please some help..

Technical Support / client crashes

Hi guys,

A friend of mine has updated to 8.1 GUI version...after waiting ages to synchronize and waited ages for the transaction history he saw he has imported the PTS wallet and saw his BTS balance and Notes. The client then crashed..when reopened he can only see his BTS balance but no Notes and the blockchain was resynching from 268 days...He waited one more day until this synchronized. Then the client crashed again and now he reopened and started synchronizing again from the start and he only see his BTS balance. Obviously he is getting mad now...lol..

Is there something he can do or he should just wait for a new release? He is on windows with slow internet and a 5 year old pc that probably needs format.

General Discussion / TITAN - NO TITAN AND TRANSACTIONS

I want to pay for a hotel reservation in bitusd. I don't want everyone to know the balance of my accounts. How do I do that with the current GUI?

I assume that I have to send from a TITAN account the funds to a No TITAN account and make the payment to the hotel from the NO TITAN account. All that the other party could see is that he has received the funds from an account linked with me but he won't be able to trace back all my transactions and find out all my balances.Is this correct?

As far as I know when I create a new account it is NO TITAN. When I send funds to this account from whichever account to register it everyone can see my transactions and balances?

Basically I am after some basic instructions on how to make payments with the current GUI without everyone knows my balances. What steps do I have to take to have some privacy. Can someone please describe detailed steps to have privacy?

The last couple of days I am able to connect for 1-2 minutes and then there are no connections. Even if someone wants to buy BTS or shortbitassets these days in the exchange it is impossible...

Technical Support / missing transactions and wrong balance

Hi,

My balance since yesterday appears reduced for no reason (haven't done any trading or something like that). Also when checking my balance via the main menu from dashboard and checking the balance via the console from the transaction history they ending balances are different (both of them appear reduced since yesterday)

I am currently doing a rescan transaction history but it appears that this will take ages... Any idea or something I can do?

General Discussion / DNS, Vote, Play and Music

So where do we stand with DNS and Vote?
DNS was implemented in BTS but I haven't seen any post about the progress of registering domain names.
Vote was supposed to be something huge that could overtake even BTS if it wasn't implemented and I haven't seen anything regarding this either.

Any estimation when Play and Music are about to launch? Last time I remember it was within Q1 2015 and I was wondering about new estimates.

Me and Insurance DACs I suppose are not in the plan anymore?
