General Discussion / Re: Why Cryptocurrencies Matter
« on: December 12, 2015, 05:42:41 pm »
@IOHKCharles .Very nice talk, well described and easy explaining things. But i didn't like your initial comment "bitshares was a fun project..Ethereum is awesome blah blah blah..." and I hope @bytemaster to prove you wrong at some point. It would be very interesting maybe have a debate at some point the two of you about what ethereum can do better from bitshares and vice versa so the rest of us simply humans can understand things better..

@carpet ride . No please no...We don't want to pay anymore for great marketers...Brian Page got paid enormous amounts and the result was an initial pump of bitshares and an endless dump afterwards for the past year..bitshares will be sold on its own once it is ready..Companies will jump on board once they see the potential for huge profits and I think bitshares has started to move away from just simply smart contracts and market pegged assets and will evolve to a whole new monster sooner or later. I am thinking of gift economies, internet of things operating in bitshares network and many more new exciting things.

General Discussion / Re: Brownie price: Panic or not?
« on: December 09, 2015, 08:55:48 pm »
dump them as much as you want...people who understand what is happening here long term will gladly buy them..
bts/brownie @ 3 or 2 or 1 or 0.1 is irrelevant for those who believe... so keep dumping them if you wish...I am not able to earn them by participating in mumble sessions (timing issues), or code (i am useless coding) but I will be gladly buying them no matter what price whenever I have some money (damn Polo killed my dreams but will recover from my ashes eventually :))

The proposal and the initiative from onceuponatime  is  +5%

My only proposal would be to adjust the fees in stealth transfers. We should have very low fees when visible transfers 10-30 bts irrespective of amounts as currently but when someone wants to make stealth transfers fees should be % and competitive to external exchanges. It doesn't make sense to make stealth transfer of 1 mil bts and pay a fee of 30 bts but it makes sense to have a fee of 0.1% i.e. 1000bts..

Meanwhile, where else in Cryptodom can you find as many freaking new potential revenue producing FBA assets to trade?

Now you don't have to launch a whole DAC, just roll your own FBAs one at a time.  Priceless.

BM is now extra inspired to start cranking them out (in his spare time).
I wonder when @toast, @Rune, @BunkerChain Labs , @bitsapphire and a host of others will get in the act?
Actually .. myself, @svk, and @cass are going to "get in" the act with something very in need rather soonish :)

Looking forward to it  :)

This will likely be an unpopular opinion, but I feel I must speak up. The way I see it, the operators are trying to cash in immediately and shift most of the risks of their businesses to those who buy their UIA. If they think their businesses will be wildly successful, then it makes little sense to me as to why they would try to sell so much equity this early in the game. Take a look at the list of cryptocurrency exchanges and notice how many of them have little to no volume. I gave the same warning to the Nxt community when they were largely investing in many UIAs immediately following the creation of their UIA exchange. I think a majority of them wish they would of taken my advice. You have been warned. I don't mean to ruffle any feathers and mean no offence to those who are selling these assets, as you guys likely do not have any bad intentions in offering these sales.

*promptly looks for an underground bunker to hide in for eternity*

Since you are mentioning NXT, when I was following quite some time ago, I have noticed exactly the opposite..Those who kept their NXTs lost a lot in their value from $80 mil market cap to $6 mil today and those who invested in other UIA in the exchange performed quite well i.e. shortNXT where there was a guy that created an index that tracked NXT price and people could pofit from falling NXT price ( disclaimer: I don't know what is happening now, if this still exists or if it was a scam but at that time it was really helpful and profitable..)

Nanocard / Re: Activation of NanoCard on CCEDK, soon but not yet, sorry
« on: December 08, 2015, 12:50:28 pm »
@ccedk I do not want to use my nanocard with Bit-x but rather with CCEDK. As long as this is still in the plans, to use that card with CCEDK, I can wait and don't want a refund.

If the card I purchased can not be used in CCEDK in the future, then I would also request for a refund. Please advise.

I think I read at some point something about coin age of Brownies airdrop on Brownies but I don't remember where and what was the answers..

Questions:

1. Do I need to keep all my Brownies under my forum name?

2. Is it better if I transfer my Brownies to my forum name?

3. Should I register my others accounts holding Brownies in the forum?

General Discussion / Re: Smart Coins & Forced Settlement
« on: December 01, 2015, 12:11:00 pm »
after 2 years of experimenting I think the best was the first and original rule..depending on demand for bitassets the bitusd could be at a discount or a premium..period..no expiration no SQP and shinny formulas..nothing..traders would short when bitasset was at premium and people would buy bitasset when in discount forcing the peg
Merchants accepting bitusd as a form of payment would know that at some point their bitasset would worth more or less but at least there would be liquidity from traders and the risk for not beeing able to convert all their bitasset in fiat would be minimal..Now after 2 years we have no liquidity, no traders in the DEX nothing..anyway..

The premium will get lower with higher liquidity but it will not stay constant over time.
Dan and me, we think that the premium will be higher in times of high volatility in BTS .. and lower in times with less volatility

I am not sure how this is fair though...I have noticed that when we were @ $18 mil market cap with high volume and volatility before the bts2 launch I wanted to cover my bitusd short positions and  I couldn't because I had to pay a premium of 30%-40% for the bitusd..So eventually I din't cover and finally I have decided to cover when we were @ $8 mil to avoid potential margin call. I did pay a premium of only 5% and my bts collateral released eventually worth now much less..Are you saying that I should have covered back then and pay a premium of 40%??? If that is the case then we are doing something really really wrong!!!

Bottom line...No matter what I will never a short position in bitasset ever ever again because of this..I much prefer buy and sell bts at external exchanges..And don't get me wrong..I have been supporting the experiment of bts for the last 2 years in the DEX instead of dumping bts when they were high on external exchanges as everyone else was doing..We need to sort our things right after 2 years of experimenting if we want bts to survive..
