Just, trying to say, mostly to the other posters, not you smiley35:

- Have a little backbone and voice your opinion what is best for you (us)! Do not just stand up and applause whatever “Stan’ says is ‘The next best thing after the hot water’ “.

- Do not let Stan claim something that is not his, just because “He knows, best what to do with it”.

- And lastly, do not attack someone defending your interest, just to gain points in the eye of the muster.

 +5%

Sounds like good advice.

The important part that seems to get lost in the noise is that every change/update made is done in a way that increases the value proposition for those invested. AGS was a phenomenal deal for PTS holders if one could see through the curtain of technical and economic development. Similarly whats happening here is that instead of spending the remaining PTS on security, it will now be used to get people excited and incentivized to use bitshares.

I will try to adhere to your polite tone!
I do not argue with the need for marketing! (read my post, please.)
My post is regarding Stan's stance (bytemaster kind of distanced himself from this proposition in his earlier post) - ‘You fools out here, we have the best marketing Idea. Instead of giving you 15% (i.e. not diluting your shares as promised), we will take those money and PROMISE to give you 2X….10X return.’
My point is ‘If we have 15% of the  PTS, let’s put our collective brain and decide what is the best way to spend them’

I have read and considered all of your posts in this thread. You bring up a good point, If PTS is bigger than invictus why don't we get to decide. Fair. The other thing to consider is that the main value prop right now are the DACS that invictus is building. This might not be the case in the future, but it is right now. If we all decide to honor PTS as it is now instead of PTS with DPOS then we would probably win that fight. To me it seems that DPOS+marketing is the way to go so I will be supporting that chain. But thats the point right, invictus can't do much without a community. We need each other to create value. Technically invictus can't do anything but share idea's and suggest that we all choose to use them in the same way.

Why would it not be better to give some of the pts strategically to form partnerships with a solid footprint in alternative media and//or companies with philosophical characteristics that would help to further bootstrap the industry?

Are all readers, except bytemaster and Agent86, on this forum dyslexic?
Everybody responding to my words –READ MY POST before answering.
*donkeypong* – you do not have to put this effort. For you registration time on this forum is all that matters, so no need for you to try reading. It will not change my registration date!

I would like to address your previous post in a non confrontational way. It seems that there is a lot of heated posts on this forum and I think we could all be happier if we were more polite. It is clear that dan has made updates and changes at multiple times since last november. Each time there has been a mix of reactions ranging from ecstatic to livid. From where I stand we have just allocated costs away from security to marketing. When viewed in that light this development is a great thing for the strength of the community....... which is currently being tested due to delays in product development. I think this is a great idea, but I would also caution invictus that the worst thing they could do would be to use this to pump bitshares without a viable product. You have lost the attention of a large portion of the target market because of "broken promises". For this great marketing idea to mean anything your gonna need to put some software out first. The team knows this and so does the community. I'm excited to play a role in the future of BTS.

It's my hope that Bitshares XT and at least 1 or 2 other DACs will be launched and fully tested/debugged well before the Beyond Bitcoin conference in early July. That way, some Bitshares flagship DACs can be marketed in the lead-up to the conference. Even better if Bitshares X will have been launched by then, but that may be asking for a lot...

It'd be a shame not to use this giant, upcoming opportunity to showcase some things!

The Beyond Bitcoin conference was canceled as far as I know.

Deferred, not canceled, until we have several DACs in the top ten at coinmarketcap.com.   :)

lol

Hey Adam, I've been a listener since last mayish and I came here because of you. I'm not trying to attack you or anything, just wondering why you have such an attitude on these forums. Yes the products are late, we have also been kept up to date the whole time on the reasoning (DPOS) and progress being made. We are on the edge of breakthrough here and I can't figure out why you're being so negative. I'm not looking for a fight, I just want to know where your coming from?

Because Invictus has set and broken many many many self imposed deadlines, adopted an investment strategy I wholly disagree with and provided what I feel was a better and less restrictive (for invictus) model and feel their decision has delivered bad results with development dominated by the one player who already proved to miss deadlines and not be able to do many things at once.

Most recently, Dan has bet the entire project on an experimental lower level transaction processing technology (DPOS) before the actual point of the project (Betting, Assets, etc) can be developed.  This came after a previous attempt at doing the same thing with a new experimental lower level transaction processing technology (TAPOS) that was worked on for a few weeks and then abandoned when they ran into unforeseen problems.

There is nothing stopping that from being the case with DPOS, it just hasn't happened yet.   Even worse would be to launch quickly with the completely untested tech, have it "used with real money" as they say it needs to be in order to test it, and then people get that "real money" stolen due to a previously unknown exploit.

I'm a long time supporter, but projects like this have forum turnover where new users aren't aware of the history of promises made and broken before they joined the project.  With that context, things look less optimistic.  Invictus could turn things around but I'm results oriented and so far the results from invictus have been atrocious.

Now they've spent enough time and collected enough money that there is incredible pressure being brought to bear on them to produce results, I'm a squeaky wheel not Invictus's real problem by any means.  People do not develop well under that sort of pressure, I don't have high hopes.

I have been pounding on these same issues with Invictus for a very long time, so my exasperation is exactly that - exasperation.  It is frustrating as hell to see them walk into the same predictable landmines.  Do you know how long it took them to get a Blog to centralize important information about Bitshares for people who have invested?  Nearly six months. My concern about Angelshares is Invictus was on the one side making it harder for people to get them "for free" during the initial bootstrap of the Bitshares network, but also the risk of sucking up all the money available for investment and Invictus BECOMING the ecosystem rather than becoming a catalyzing player in the ecosystem.      We've now seen how Invictus becoming the ecosystem has smothered it since they have so much going on they don't have time to make good decisions to steward its growth.

I'm still here because, among other things, Bitshares is the only project who still holds my investment trapped.  Angelshares have not delivered as advertised, Protoshares have had their value smooshed so it's in my economic best interest to stick around and try to correct the boat on Bitshares.  I am a squeaky wheel, I'm not special but I do tend to be early so the fact that the situation with Invictus is as troubling to a guy like me should be a warning sign.

I can't quote from this thread, but you can see the early discussion about Invictus starting something like Angelshares. I went by Lighthouse at the time. https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=1397.0

Ok. Thanks, now I understand where you are coming from. Those are valid points. The broken deadlines are also very frustrating for me. I see the progression of proof of.... as extremely important to both reinforcing the "company" metaphor, and ensuring that anyone who wants to launch a new chain can without worrying about mining and security. I'm not trying to counter your points as I think they are valid, I just draw a different conclusion. To me it seems that invictus made the mistake of promising deadlines while trying to push the envelope. They have failed to meet them, but it is hard to deny the progress that has been made, one can just check github. With DPOS we can have block chains compete at the service level as opposed to the block chain infrastructure level. It seems to me that we are right on the edge of a breakthrough in block chain tech that will result in a breakthrough in the 2.0 space (famous investor last words haha).  I guess we will see this weekend if DPOS holds up. That will be a deciding moment in this journey.

As far as your rep, I should have said I came here due to info I heard on your show. Obviously I don't hold you responsible for my crypto investments.

General Discussion / Re: Interview with Toast
« on: May 13, 2014, 08:32:28 am »
I listened to this yesterday. Useful to get these sorts of updates, thanks Toast. Point taken about not giving out 'delivery times' for software. I wondered if a road map or something that sketches out progress markers might be well received, even if no times are specified. Has the order of release for the DACs planned to date been decided yet?

Kinda.

First is BTSX which if the test net goes smoothly this week should launch at some point when dan feels confident enough in his work.

Then BTS Me

Then BTS DNS

Then BTS Gaming (as well as charity) and BTS Music are somewhere after that (they have their own teams, not toast or byte master)

By that point people are forking all of the above into both non innovative and innovative forks, and next up is BTS MAS (byte), BTS Poker (toast), and lending ( not sure )

Did I miss anything?

I'll give you 10 pts for it.

40
I am against this idea.  They are the product of donated pts. We all knew this would happen. And they will be used as part of the angel shares fund.

They benefit shareholders greatly.  Your sentiment seems to be that of a short term speculator.

Haven't made it yet, can't make it this time. Damn.  I'll catch the podcast though.  All the sessions are being recorded right?

Keyhotee / Re: Live blockchain
« on: May 06, 2014, 07:35:50 pm »
Hi Populus,

Keyhotee is temporarily taking a backseat to other priorities at the moment.  They have pulled the developers who were working on it so everyone can focus on bitshares XT for now.  You aren't really late to the party for investing.  You'll have to wait to invest in bitshares XT (the test chain of bitshares X) until it launches because the initial allocation "snapshot" has past.  But, you can still invest in everything else that comes afterward by buying BitShares PTS or by sending BitShares PTS or BTC to the AGS address.  BitShares PTS is pretty cheap at the moment as it has come down in price along with the rest of crypto so it's a better deal than it was a month or so ago.

I think your voice-over or copywriter skills may be useful to the community, thanks for offering!  If you notice needed corrections or suggestions for the bitshares.org website you can let people know.

Thanks for the info. Are there any other forums where Keyhotee is discussed?

What is a copy writer? like you work for the GOV you mean?

The government? No.
A copywriter's job is to write texts for the public and get them interested in X. It could be a product, a service or it could be Keyhotee.

Gotcha..... I was thinking copy right.

So myself and a couple individuals have decided to take the next step on this proposal. I noticed that Bitsharesmagazine.com was registered in February to bitezhushou. Anyone know who this is/have any information that could help me out? I am about to email the listed address on go daddy, just thought I'd ask around.

General Discussion / Re: Delegated Proof of Stake (DPOS) White Paper
« on: April 23, 2014, 07:41:40 pm »
I don't know whether this has been discussed before (if it is, do excuse me) but:

What is the incentive of the user to vote in the first place?

I'm talking about a direct incentive here.

Reason I'm asking is because of this:

Heavycoin had/has its 'revolutionary' block reward voting. I personally couldn't be arsed to change the presets of the miner I downloaded off the pool website.

Users don't have to think about it... their client will automatically vote against anyone who is not performing and otherwise vote for the default clients.  Through observation it all clients will learn who to vote for.

Users don't have to think about who to vote for, it is all automatic unless they want to override the automatic settings.   Those wishing to become delegate must market and campaign for people to override the defaults.   This means they must provide motivation for people to take action such as:

1) increasing user dividends
2) offering other services as a side benefit

Could you elaborate on that bytemaster. Increase the user dividend by changing the block you mean?

What other services for example?
