General Discussion / BitSharesBlocks on the phone
« on: August 23, 2015, 04:18:32 pm »
I checked the brownies/bts section and the tables were messed up, ones on top of another. Part of it didn't even seem to be on the table, it was over teh background which isn't white, it's more grayish.

Just wanted to point that out. If you want, give me your email and I'll send you some print screens.

I was using chrome btw.

General Discussion / [UPVOTE] r/Bitcoin Frontpage - Delegative Democracy

So yeah I don't want to spam that with how BitShares already has a similar model but I think it's wroth mentioning a similar system named DPOS already exists. Maybe it could be commented on the article itself, seems a better idea.

Just, please don't spam it with BitShares propaganda unless u want to get downvoted and not listened to.

Upvote please.

From Bitscape delegate if im not mistaken? It's been quiet a while. You travelled, some time has passed and still no videos. Could you elaborate on that?

Tbh I never liked the idea of having people travelling via delegate pay, but I thought it would be better to wait and see when they showed their work because it could be worth it. However the ones doing it never gave updates, showed a video tease or anything of the like. Unless I'm missing something.

So yeah, I'm asking about the videos. Status on that please. How much will you get to deliver that? Why is it taking so long? I just want to get a reasonable response, but we all deserve to see some work here.

So don't quit BitSharers!

"The earliest versions broke all the time.

It’s important to attract people who understand what a beta actually is and are forgiving of all the bugginess that it comes with, but I also spent a lot of time fixing issues.

When something didn’t work, of course I felt awful, but it was a learning experience and I was sitting there on the call with them, so they knew that the issue was getting attention "

Also, could we eventually use this in the future to link BitShares with some other app?

General Discussion / Exchanges Issues Log

I just hope we will have an awesome product with 2.0 Hopefully we will catch more attention from potential future partners

random idea. We should just collect all links and dates where exchanges have had problems that could be avoided if they were using BitShares (from the moment BitShares 2.0 is released) so after a few months or a year we would released that and people could have an actual idea of how much they could have saved, both exchanges and customers  ;) then leak all of that on all major crypto magazines. BOOOM right in the wound. I will actually try to compile all of that so I could share in the future, if you know of any problems with exchanges that are known and public, pls pm me. Then once I have a reasonable amount, we will discuss the ones that could be avoided and have someone publish that.

General Discussion / What is the focus of BitShares now?
« on: August 17, 2015, 11:06:51 pm »
So, as we've seen throughout the history of BitShares, some things worked out, some didn't. We had some problems with keyhotee, marketing, the client, lack of volume on our bitAssets and the peg could be better I guess. So, what are we up to in this new phase? It sure seems to have lots of potential, but maybe we should be more clear on our objectives?

https://discuss.nubits.com/t/bitshares-org-renewal-trade-bitcoin-without-counterparty-risk/1371

I mean, the rivalry might heat things up, people might just speak without thinking but if some people don't seem to realize what's our aim, then how are we going to get more public? Sure, lots of people will use BitShares without knowing why like we've seen with all the new partners we have, but it would be really awesome to bring in more investors, however, we can't do that if our message isn't clear enough.

Random Discussion / Crypti
« on: August 16, 2015, 01:13:24 pm »
I didn't find a thread with the search option, although there should be some threads about it but, either way, I decided to make this one so we could discuss stuff about Crypti.

Found this, they apparently have a Dapp Shop? It looks pretty cool. Dunno if we could do that with BitShares and each time we installed, we would pay directly to the creator of the Dapp! Or they would receive part of the fees done through usage of this Dapp. Other people already suggested that and I think it's one hell of an idea in order to stimulate development. Take a look https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9o5X4xHJnc

Edit: We seem to have lots of new partners and it's in our best interest to maintain good relationships with everyone. We have it with Qora, what about reaching out to Crypti community? What if they participated in a Hangout to talk about their project? @fuzzy

General Discussion / Potential Bitcoin Fork
« on: August 15, 2015, 08:33:13 pm »
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3h424p/why_is_bitcoin_forking/

This seems a controversial topic and people seem to just win the argument. Quoting the top comment:

Quick ELI5:

Running XT at this time is equivalent with running Core. It's the same network, and the same Bitcoins. At some point in the future, if 75% mining majority is reached (but not before January 2016), the network will split whenever a miner creates a block larger than 1MB. This will not be accepted by Core unless they adopt a large blocks patch, but will be accepted by XT, and at this point there will effectively be two chains.

Running XT means that you will always be on the largest (75%+) chain, regardless of whether the fork actually happens or not. Running Core means that you will be left behind if a 75% majority is reached. Regardless of which version you run, coins will be safe (on both chains) as long as you acquired them prior to the fork, and for some time the chains will largely mirror each other, but eventually they will diverge due to different coinbases (mining rewards).

Do you think this will have any negative impact on Bitcoin? I assume miners would switch automatically to the largest chain, but there's just so many arguments around this.. What about potential double spends after the fork?

Random Discussion / BitShares Slack
« on: August 15, 2015, 12:25:23 am »
So guys, do we have a BitShares Slack? It would be nice to chat in real time. It would be like a constant mumble. Easy accessible by the newbies and they could get their questions answered pretty quick. Well, it's useful in a lot of ways.

Does it exist? Does someone know how to create it?

General Discussion / Assume there's a BitShares bullrun
« on: August 11, 2015, 05:18:42 pm »
Assuming this happens and that we get, for example, to ath again or similar, it doesn't matter. In the event of BitShares reaching a high price when BitShares 2.0 is launched, do you think people could hedge properly? Could blocktrades and metaexchange keep up with the volumes? I believe most people could go from BitShares to BTC. Could people go with bitUSD without the peg breaking? I mean, if 1 bitUSD does to 1.06 again how much people would go from BitShares to BitUSD or bitCNY? Could we handle it?
