http://cointelegraph.com/news/115034/ethereum-launches-but-leaked-chat-says-project-needs-years-more

Is this legit? Although I'm not into ethereum this seems like some FUD. I think they can probably have done some work with $18M no? We never know with this crypto journalists.

What I wanted to say is, assuming this is true and things go south, BitShares better snatch Augur from Ethereum. (or maybe by then we will have something better ourselves?). Imagine if everyone who plans to build on ethereum moves onto BitShares.

Plus, it is said  Ethereum will have scalability and performance problems.. A lot of IFs but what's your opinion on the future of such a promising project? Things don't look good. And now this makes my dreams of ethereum moving into BitShares come back, but I guess that won't happen

Digital currencies and blockchain technology cut across multiple and diverse sectors, with the potential to impact everyone from Wall Street to the world's unbanked.

Organisations like PayPal, Wells Fargo, the US Department of Justice and leading technologists and investors were among the buyers of our first batch of tickets.

Explore the future of digital currencies and blockchain technology with us.

Consensus 2015 Makeathon

We're seeking fresh ways to use digital currencies and blockchain tech.

Join us on 8-9 Sep at General Assembly NYC, with the chance of walking away with $5,000.

It's been said with the workers system, there will be no need for marketing delegates. How much will BitShares be able to save?  How many marketing delegates are there? Could you list them under pls and mention how much pay they get like this below?

market.cn.group101 - 100%

I'm not saying we don't need marketing, however I'm interested in the numbers.

General Discussion / Coinbase has learned something with BitShares
« on: July 10, 2015, 12:51:33 pm »
https://blog.coinbase.com/2015/07/10/coinbase-launches-25-referral-bonus/

Our goal at Coinbase is to be the easiest place to buy and sell bitcoin. To that end, we’ve decided to give our referral program a serious shot in the arm. Coinbase users can now earn $25 of free bitcoin for every user they refer to Coinbase who buys $100 or more of bitcoin.

If you’re an online marketer (or just want to invite a few friends), we’d love to see what you can do with this.

Technical Support / Delegate Participation Rate
« on: July 04, 2015, 11:34:41 pm »
In my client, I have "Severe Network Problems" because the delegate participation rate is below 60% however on bitsharesblocks it says the delegate participation is 99%. I'm not fully synced yet, but shouldn't the delegate participation rate appear in real time? I get and loose connections but it seems to be slowly syncing, is this my client's problem?

General Discussion / BitShares Network Introduction
« on: July 04, 2015, 01:54:04 pm »
Ok, someone would help creating a thread where we explain what is the BitShares Network, the advantages, what it can achieve and how it can be useful?

We already have the specs from the BitShares 2.0 annoucement but people might not realize how they can be used for their business. I would like to have something with which I could present other businesses to. We would have multiple use cases and explain them, however I'm not the best person to do that so I would really like everyone's help. We could even turn this into a flyer in the future.

So far we have the following using (/will use) BitShares:
CCEDK
BANX
Peak Venture Group

CCEDK and BANX will use BitShares as a mean to upgrade transactions speed, security and transparency right?
Peak Venture Group, quoting Stan, specializes in affiliate marketing to promote startups. I really don't know more about them at the moment as I asked a series of questions and didnt have a answer yet. They will use BitShares because of our referral system (don't know what other characteristics they liked).

What other businesses could use BitShares for? How would they do this? What characteristics of BitShares 2.0 would improve their business? These are the questions I would like to have on a clean thread or even a blog post on bitshares.org so everyone could easily contact many different businesses, even if they couldn't explain themselves in detail, how said business would benefit from BitShares.

So let us start. Feel free to quote this and edit to add stuff as you see fit.

_______

BitShares Network

Technology: (source: https://bitshares.org/technology/, add links later)
-Price-Stable Cryptocurrencies - SmartCoins provide the freedom of cryptocurrency with the stability of the dollar
-Decentralized Asset Exchange - A fast and fluid trading platform
-Industrial Performance and Scalability - Over 100,000 transactions per second
-Collateralized Bond Market - Integrated peer-to-peer lending
-Recurring & Scheduled Payments - Flexible withdrawal permissions
-Referral Rewards Program - Network growth through adoption rewards
-Dynamic Account Permissions - Management for the corporate environment
-User-Issued Assets - Regulation-compatible cryptoasset issuance
-Stakeholder-Approved Project Funding - A self-sustaining funding model
-Transferable Named Accounts - Easy and secure transactions
-Delegated Proof-of-Stake Consensus - A robust and flexible consensus protocol

Use Cases:
- For Exchanges:
... Improved security, transparency and transaction speed (need help explaining these in detail)
... Benefits from the referral program as it could get up to 80% in fees (needs more explanation i guess)

-Insert other business here:
...Insert how they could use BitShares to improve here
...Insert how they could use BitShares to improve here

-Insert other business here:.
...Insert how they could use BitShares to improve here
...Insert how they could use BitShares to improve here

How our partners decided to work with us:
- CCEDK
...Improved liquidity as exchanges settle buy and sell orders in a unified order book
....insert reason why they joined us

-BANX (source: http://www.newsbtc.com/2015/06/29/banx-capital-announces-to-join-bitshares-exchange-network/)
...Like CCEDK, an order book shared by multiple exchanges would improve liquidity
...“With shared order books we will have deeper markets, tighter spreads, and greater liquidity,”stated Lyford. “And since our customers keep their own keys while trading on this network, combined with hierarchical multi-sig capabilities we can’t get hacked – and our customers can’t get hacked.”

Peak Venture Group
...Referral program
... “We needed a way to seamlessly transition real world currencies like dollars and euros and the unique digital currencies used inside many of the games we offer at the gaming site. I figured we could integrate a crypto currency wallet somehow and use that currency as the common denominator and a way to automatically pay affiliate commissions.

But BitShares gave us a complete decentralized currency exchange network right out of the box. It even had built-in smart contracts to help automate our affiliate program. This helps us make sure every affiliate gets paid automatically for every transaction made by any member of her integrated game and financial empire. And BitShares can keep up with gaming speeds

Now we only need to expand on this, add the links, make it look pretty and presentable and we have something easy and nice to show other businesses  :) and could add it to BitShares blog so we would link people directly to BitShares site where they would have more in depth info

General Discussion / Overstock has invested on other cryptos
« on: June 25, 2015, 01:29:47 pm »
http://www.coindesk.com/overstock-reports-over-100k-in-bitcoin-losses-for-q1-2015/

Speaking to CoinDesk, Overstock cryptocurrency group general manager Judd Bagley indicated that the loss was primarily the result of declines in certain altcoin markets in which the company has invested.

"The swing in the value of our cryptocurrency holdings is attributable to the sale of some of our non-bitcoin cryptocurrencies, the use of some of our bitcoin to pay for services including our membership in the Chamber of Digital Commerce, and changes in the market," he said.

He went on to clarify that the company "holds more than just bitcoin", but did not clarify which digital currencies Overstock has invested in.

Bagley stated that, in its quarterly filing, the holdings are considered a part of the same asset class.

"We’ve invested in other cryptocurrencies over time, and for the purposes of the SEC filing, we lump them all together," he continued.

General Discussion / BitShares on Service Annoucements at BTT
« on: June 23, 2015, 07:09:21 pm »
I thought about creating a thread there, to get us more exposure to exchanges and other services that could potentially use our exchange. After all, we're offering a service right? Only it's free and comes with benefits to its users.

A pool would be nice, to see which services people would like to join us. I'm very very curious about that but at the same time it kind of seems to desperate.

What do you think? It would be nice to engage with other coins/projects/exchanges/services there. Let's get others to use BitShares and grow our network!

We have on that section:

Related to security so I guess it could go in this section, but feel free to move it accordingly. Could be used in the future for safer logins. Seems very interesting if it could give the users the edge against hackers and malware
