General Discussion / Re: Steemit's Plan
« on: July 07, 2016, 10:23:07 pm »
@CoinHorder

Stealth - rejected because it was not considered important enough and because of dilution
- not true! FBA funded from Onceuponatime, but he got his money back, because they could not deliver what was promised

Subsidizing Liquidity - rejected because of dilution and some thought it should be done off-chain
- where can i read this? never saw a worker proposal for this

Decentralized Bond Market - rejected because people thought other things were more important
- not true! was original promised as BTS 2.0 was advertised but got cutted because of time.

to get you my perspective

1. we got forced into a merger and Follow my Vote got a lot of free shares for using bitshares - so where is this promised Follow my vote using bitshares?????
2. we got stripped of 10% for every chain who is using bitshares - because of the merger.
3. the community agreed to it because we wanted to keep bytemaster

so now he worked in secret on a new project and sold most of his bitshares

now, tell me who scammed the community.

as a matter of fact, i am pissed, because everything Larimers are spreading is fud in the end.

In the end the Graphene Kit got MIT because Dan wanted to start his own baby without giving anything to CNI his own company.  It is so sad, to see this.

The good part on Steem, only fanboys are on this platform and you can read a lot how to make big bugs out of sin air.

So CoinHorder don't give the community the hot potato, because we got forced in 2 years to many thing who where not promised but where needed to keep
everyone on board and now they left in secret.....sorry that i feel betrayed.

Indeed. Plus FMV is raising money elsewhere. I can't say for sure but it seems they're doing their own thing now instead of making something for BTS. They got paid and we got nothing but dilution.

Other thing is the overpromising. Why so much, bond market, this and that, when, it seems it wasn't realistic at all. That's completely irresponsible.

I could accept that some stuff couldn't be delivered, but then why not quietly work on them or do something else. Although there's nothing thatbinds CNX to BTS, this felt like a stab in the back.

Why not try again after some time? Time has passed, price went down, surely some accumulated. BTS changed hands. Anti-dillution might not be active atm, etc. Why not give it a try again at some of the stuff that is here: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,21541.90.html

FWIW- Dan first proposed most of the things he is doing in Steem here to the Bitshares community. You guys cut off his funding for said proposals- stating they were either unnecessary or declaring that inflation for development/improvements = bad. It is kind of the Bitshares' community's fault he has moved on from Bitshares to Steem. An employee must get paid for his work, or else he will look elsewhere for an employer that will pay him for working. Failure to see that to make a few dollars you have to spend a few dollars is entirely on the Bitshares' community. Short term greed stymied Bitshares and will be its eventual downfall.

No one cut off his funding.  Dan never even created a worker proposal.  Total bullshit saying that BTS won't pay for any development as there are 2 workers being paid already.

 +5% +5%  +5%

Indeed, a proposal was never even made in the first place, that's what got me disappointed. Quitting before trying.

Maker/Taker
This is the first of many new proposals that don't cost the BTS stakeholders much of anything to get powerful new features.  In this case all the stakeholders must do is grant permission for a hardfork that implements a new feature.  100% of the new feature is self funded.

Negative Fees
As a mean of Subsidizing Market Liquidity. Allows people to get paid for orders sitting on the order books for more than 24 hours for example. This is done to prevent abuse and people buying/selling to themselves. A worker is needed for a specific market. This worker will pay for this negative fees. I think this could be seen as a loan, we pay now, to increase liquidity which will reward BitShares later.

Bitcoin Sidechain
Bitcoin could be used as collateral for example. It is speculated this would help improve liquidity as atm collateral for MPAs is currently ~200% and with Sidechains, collateral would be reduced to 100%. More MPAs on the market as its creation would have less restrictions.

I've been away, has this been done and currently live on chain?

We could do some type of liquidity event again.

Whoever has market maker bots and can be considered a trustworthy member of the community would gather some funds from members to increase liquidity on the markets.

If everyone sent for example 0.1 or 0.05 BTC -  or any other amount, of course more is better - to a market maker bot account with multi sig,  we could increase liquidity on a certain number of markets and whoever temporarily donated those funds could get them back at any time since it's a multi sig account.

First thing would be to make a pool and see how much members would be willing to donate.
Then according to that number, adopt a plan. If it's a considerable amount, we could spread it through a few markets, if not, we should focus only on 1 or 2. Maybe even spread it through multiple bots since each one as a different trading strategy?
Then make a tutorial on how ppl have their funds on a bot account via multi sig and showing how they can withdraw their funds at any time
Then actually collect funds

This would be done just to provide liquidity which is our aim, not to try to collect profits from trades, which either way shouldn't be that big.

Ideas?

Or do something similar but to reward takers and makers. A community fund whose funds would be used to pay takers and makers. I dont know if a proposal for this wih BTS pool funds was already done and failed, but if it did, then we could try it this way. Build a smart contract, send funds there and it would automatically pay makers and takers using the funds members donated.

I just think we should try something, liquidity won't come if we don't move.

Hallo, again could you give us some feedback?

Does this new settlement fee improve liquidity and interest in CNY?

I agree with you that we should just follow a direction as to make the most out of it. Focus on something. But being a decentralized ecosystem, everyone can do what they want. It's positive but as I see it, it's something that can hold the project back during its infancy. Lack of a route to follow, objectives to achieve is bad.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: [Worker Proposal] Ripple Gateway
« on: July 04, 2016, 10:00:44 pm »
TL;DR
Basically I think this Ripple gateway is an exchange running on Ripple, just like OpenLedger running on BitShares. Usually we don't pay exchanges to list BitShares.

While I agree with is, it would be nice to have some kind of relationship with Ripple. Both BitShares and Ripple are similar in many ways. But given their size, BitShares would only win from this.

The way I see it, there could be bitCNY:rippleCNY markets for arbitrage and to allow easier transfer of fund (even though I honestly don't know who would want to move their cny from ripple to bts), but form what I heard there was a bitstampUSD and RippleUSD market but it got closed due to low volume. It started strong but with time it faded away. That could be an issue.

General Discussion / Re: At least BTS outlasted NuShares
« on: June 10, 2016, 09:16:28 pm »
Does this even count as a victory for BitShares? Given its current state

59
On a side note, Dan Larimer has not been gone from BitShares for anywhere near as long, nor anywhere near as completely, as Jakub (the OP) was when he was mia for many months. No doubt Jakub was off doing valuable research and work - although he gave us no intimation of that. Should we expect any less of Bytemaster, who's hiatus will likely much benefit BitShares in the long run?

Please everyone take that into consideration when evaluating this thread.

All that's left of BM is his "promise" to offer worker proposals (in some undefined point in time) for the migration of his STEEM inventions *if* they prove to be successful.

He has no longer any significant stake in BTS.
He has no plans to offer any worker proposals, apart from emergency fixes.
And he's not even willing to promote OpenLedger as a trading platform for STEEM.

For me this is enough to call it "gone".

Satoshi is gone for Bitcoin as well... I think this does not have to be crippling... and as said, I think BitShares is so far ahead of the curve... for 10 years there should be no need to do any further development on the core. Services like OpenPOS from KenCode can now focus on a stable core and I think they would not appreciate too much if they would change the core substantially every 6 months...

Bitcoin didn't have tons of competing coins at that time.

Also the most important thing, which no other crypto has, real world usage. Bitcoin succeeded because it was used on satoshidice/gambling sites and silk road. that was >90% of volume at the time. No usage or utility > no adoption. It will only come out of necessity and that will take a long time.

What we need is services to be built on top of the chain like some are doing. If that keeps up then BitShares will increase in value

When does the 1st tier sale end or how much have you collected so far, out of your total objective? also, how long will the donations be locked up / when will the tokens be distributed for trade?
