General Discussion / Re: DAC Concept: Item certification
« on: November 03, 2014, 06:08:34 pm »
I believe there is similar project that is in execution but it uses bitcoin blockchain. I'm more towards technical stuff so I don't have time and connections to get the producers onboard. It could work for other valuable items too. Rolex was a good example.

Any chance you have a link to the similar project using btc blockchain?

Use for:
coin grading
certificates of authenticity
GMO labeling could be done this way in that a person would be able to track all ingredients that went into a product to ensure no GMOs?
The marijuana industry has a seed to sale tracking system that could utilize this as well

JWF, great idea!  This is what we're working on with Future Tech Farm (Link to bitsharestalk post here).  One of our goals is to have the ability to track every single plant grown with proof of: No GMO, No Pesticide Utilization, etc...  Publicly verifiable and an objectively better system than "Certified Organic" by at least an order of magnitude.

Emski, I really like the idea!  Specific to the industry of wine, we could really get buy in if we were able to get the Master Sommeliers on board.  I'm guessing this is a problem they're trying to solve, might be worthwhile to reach out and validate that hypothesis.

okay so we should take nominated books and do a poll on which on to read then discuss it, rinse and repeat, right?

Sounds good to me!

(thanks to whomever recommended Zero to One - great book)

Great idea with the book club and so glad to hear you enjoyed Zero To One.  I think it'd do the community well for more to read it... :)

Another book I would highly suggest is "Start With Why" by Simon Sinek.  Judging by some recent posts from Dan and the marketing crew, I'd hypothesize that a few of them have read it!

I'd also highly suggest "Turn the Ship Around." (Especially the audio version)

Glad to see this resolved.

Hat tip to Fuzzy for maintaining your integrity.  To publicly voice your concerns about this particular ambiguous situation speaks volumes about your character.  It further reinforces the perception of you I've pieced together over this past year.  Thank you for continuing to be transparent.

To go full circle back to the OP title, I'm with merockstar on this topic.  I think groups will naturally form in order to address the numerous functions of the job description of a delegate.  It's neither bad nor good, it just is.

Rune - I like you. I can tell by your posts you understand damn well the potential.  Glad to have you part of the community.

I am glad to see we have not been completely scared away from using the company metaphor. I understand the lawyers are probably telling you to steer away from the word as much as humanly possible but to investors its pretty important.

I agree.

But I also really like the new opportunity for a "dealer's choice" metaphor that can be applied to whomever the product is being pitched to.

We now have a newfound limitless potential for onboarding the largest mass of consumers possible.  The DAC metaphor is not so rigid in it's purely semantic definition.  I believe this is a very good thing.

Wow that is really cool!  What a way to cut out the overhead costs for a conference.  This is just a taste of what the future of VR has the potential for enabling for prices exponentially lower than what we experience today...

I may just try to check this out, you going robrigo?

Brilliant, thanks for this! Listened to No 5, Peter Thiel, and made me ask a lot of questions about Bitshares in the context of quantum leaps and monopolies.

If you're interested in exploring what Peter has to explain in further detail, I highly suggest his book Zero to One

Here's another post I created specifically in regards to that book.

For the entrepreneurially-minded around here, there is a Fantastic online (FREE) class going on right now through Stanford entitled: How to Start a Startup.  The class is CS183B and taught/coordinated by Y Combinator President, Sam Altman.

Here is the link.

Guest Lecturers include:
  • Peter Thiel
  • Dustin Moskovitz
  • Paul Graham
  • Marc Andreesen
  • Marissa Mayer
  • ...and many more incredible entrepreneurs

There are some awesome lectures (I've watched 6 so far) about growth and marketing that would definitely apply to BitShares.

Enjoy!

This looks scamish as there is no video of a working prototype. You claim a village created larger version of the cubes however noone recorded a video of this.
You claim you have working prototypes capable of doing something but where is the proof?
You list hardware that anyone could buy but you list no specs and no information what it was supposed to do.
Where are your customers?
Who used this product?
Where is your forum?
Most of the links on the site cannot be opened.

Easy emski.  This is a place where ideas should be accepted with an open mind.

Cubespawn, welcome!

Found a couple of links for those interested in seeing what they've been up to:

Excellent project, I think the future will be bright indeed, and I want to make your hardware!

Take a look at CubeSpawn dot com when you get a chance, I think your DAC and mine will have many similarities, since you are, ultimately, manufacturing food...

If you follow the "Detailed Project Links" link - it leads to many system pictures and renders (Your Renders are awesome)

Cheers
James

Awesome James!  I will check it out.

This is slightly off topic. A few years ago I bough a AeroGarde system I think it was this one http://www.aerogarden.com/aerogardens/aerogarden-spacesaver-6/aerogarden-spacesaver-6-black-1.html , and one of the problem I had with this system was the light. This think it on like  16 hours a day or so. It is alright if you have a  house and you grow it in the basement, and never see it. But if you leave in apartment the light it just too much, it did bother me a lot not only at night. even during the day. It is non the most pleasant of lights either. I mange to grow some stuff on it but after a few month I gave up because of that and I know I'm not the only one that stop using the system because of that. So it will be good if  your grow systems will have some kind of blinds(maybe optional) or something to block the light. Just my 2 larimer !!

Great insight oco, we appreciate your larimers.

I agree with Daniel.

eBay first - "Start at the top then work your way up."

Need to think massively and get outside of the crypto space, outside our comfort zones, and into where the majority of where society exists.

Just a quick update to all those who are following this venture's adventure:
  • We are working on bringing on two additional team members for an equity stake: 1 designer, 1 software engineer (who frequents this forum...;))
  • We will be submitting our application for Y Combinator today (San Francisco-based accelerator program)
