Make voting as easy as possible! Think like you are a user.
If we really think voting is important, why not let our users know it better?

1. Make a "Vote" link on the top of GUI, like this:
Dashboard | Explore | Trade | Transfer | Vote!

2. Put something better than this on the top of voting page:
"Since you own a LARGE amount of stake of the system/company, your opinion is VERY IMPORTANT. Your voting will improve/secure the system and make your stake more valuable. If you don't vote, others/attackers may vote against what you want, thus your stake may become less valuable."

3. Make the GUI of voting page simpler
[IMPORTANT] The order of roles/voting options are important, show the most important role/voting option on the top.
[IMPORTANT] Don't use tabs, Use DIV's with a "hide details/show details" button

4. show more attractive description of the roles, for example
* Committee member: committee members make important decisions to maker the system work better / more secure / more valuable.
[BETTER] show a link "More info" to a document page in a new window.
[IMPORTANT] show a button "Become a committee member!". It's very simple, just one click then you can become a committee member, right? And the cost is as cheap as 2 BTS, far far less than a transfer.
** Make a list of active committee members, sort by number of votes for her
** Make a list of inactive committee members or all committee memebers, sort by activity, the one who updated their votes most recently shows on the top. And an option to sort by weight.
** Use list view instead of card view.
** show the opinions of each committee member in the list. use different color to indicate. for example <green>1.4.10 <red>1.4.11 <grey>1.4.12, and a link on each item to the detailed proposal page, and a small tip show short description when mouse in stopped on it.
** Make a "support" button on every member, shows whether you supports him, able to change your decision by one-click

* Make a list of active committee proposals, with a button to support/decline if the user is a committee member, or a link "become a committee member to make decision" if the user is not a committee member

* Witnesses: witnesses are contributors that sign blocks, like the miners in Bitcoin. A witness earn 1.5 BTS for every block she signed.
[IMPORTANT] show a link "More info" to a document page.
[IMPORTANT] show a button "Become a witness!", link to a "how to" page

* Paid contributors/contributions/workers: we pay for "some good word here" contributors/contributions.
** show a link "Become a paid contributor!"
** show a list of current paid contributors, what they are doing or want to do, how much their got paid, etc
** Make a "support" button on every contributor, shows whether you supports him, able to change your decision by one-click

* Proxies: proxies are [soem attractive words here]
**  a link "Become a proxy",
** show a list of top proxies

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: *CI/UI/UX Design / Web Development - cass

Voted.

3379
why not have it so all thebworkers pay out in actual bitassets instead of bts directly?
Are you speaking seriously?
Because nobody create the bitassets.
Because of lack of liquidity.
Because the borrower can be margin called, if the system borrows, it would be more vulnerable.

Imo don't ask. Why will she answer? You should already know it before talk with her, at least you should know some possible problems she's facing. Or perhaps I'm wrong since I'm not a marketing/sales guy.

Yes, we need to know the general problems first which are mostly security related. But we also need to know what problems each exchange has as each case is a different case right? And from then, explain how we can prevent and solve those same problems, specifically for them. I'm writing a post which is kind of big atm, however, I'm missing the part where exchanges benefit the most, that's the main part to get them on board.

Thanks for pinging Stan, he might be able to help. He pitched BitShares to businesses already, maybe not to exchanges directly? But still, some situations might be similar.
Imo @ccedk may know answers of most of your questions. Best if they can help. Have you joint the Telegram group? Many discussions have been made there. Ronny of CCEDK is active at most time.

//Update: I've seen your post above this https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,18642.msg270546.html#msg270546, have you tried?

General Discussion / Re: [EBM] Exchange Business Management Team
« on: January 10, 2016, 04:10:12 pm »
Thanks abit.

I posted an update on the Polo thread. It seems it might be too early to get exchanges on board, though if someone wants to try it, I suggest start by the smaller ones as they have the most to gain.

As for providing liquidity I really can't help with that. We already have bitUSd and bitCNY markets on Poloniex and they're dead. We need some market making there.
Yes, but for market making, we need funds and devs/technical supports and need to face risks. It's not a risk free business.

I'm sad that the author of OP has left for a few days. Some of her/his ideas are very positive and constructive indeed.

I don't think worker proposal should be used to do the things such as market making for a specific BitAsset, system should only define rules.
+1
As a developer, I do want more funds go to development activities (so perhaps less go to others).
But as an investor, I want funds to be spent on whatever benefits the whole "company" most.

thanks @xeroc and @BunkerChain Labs

You're right. I could have researched first. It was just that I sent a few emails just for the sake of it and really wasn't even expecting them to reply back. It was an innocent task. I tried to mention how they could benefit from us but I guess I didn't express myself better.

I think a better approach would be to start by asking what problems do they have when managing operations and how that could be prevented with BitShares. I wanted to but failed to show that concern you mention. I'm just not really used to doing this but I believe it was a good experience. I can always have someone else talking with him, someone with more knowledge.

Any volunteers there?

@cass
Just letting you know I approve your worker.

Stuff missing are those easy steps. In case they're interested they need to know how difficult it is to migrate. What consequences that might have for them. How much time it takes and drawbacks. They need to know that so it doesn't affect their business.

One other detail is, atm we only focus on the users. How they benefit. But we should also focus on businesses because they're the ones who bring great amounts of users. They need to know why they benefit, what's in for them. What to they gain with this. Atm I can only come up with two things: database hosted on the blockchain so less expenses and more safety, saving them money and work. But there should be more. We won't be able to see them BitShares just with this. Referral program... yes, but they already make money with each trade their users do so there's not really a difference. We need to focus on businesses. This case, exchanges. There must be other advantages other than those, otherwise they won't come in.

So, could someone answer the following question in detail for me please: How do exchanges benefit from BitShares? How do they make more money or have more exposure? Let's not confuse with the benefits users have. Exchanges might not care about transparency, etc
@Stan please?

3385
Use some fund to make a bot on Polo's bitCNY/BTC pair, manually bump the volume there if no one was trading, we will get eye balls. I already have a worker proposal for the latter. If the bot operates at a slight loss, maybe no need the manually bump, people like free money (by hedging between Dex and polo)

Technical Support / Re: I need some help with recovering
« on: January 10, 2016, 02:00:25 am »
As long as they were claimed by the account from 0.9.x you're fine. Just create a new wallet and import the wif key again.
Thanks. That works...But still if I try to import my brainkey accounts are missing. How can I get brainkey that works for all my accounts?
So your problem is solved.
Brain key won't work with imported keys.
To get your brain key work with all accounts, you can update the owner keys and/or active keys of the "missing" accounts to new keys generated in the wallet (after this feature is added to the wallet https://github.com/cryptonomex/graphene-ui/issues/255)

Quote
Looks strange. Maybe the missing accounts were created in another wallet, otherwise it should be able to restore from the brain key. Could you post your account names here, or PM me? The missing accounts, and the ones not missing.
Sure. Account that is ok - satoshifund, missing accounts are cyberfund and hipster
So these two accounts are registered before BTS 2.0, see http://legacy.bitsharesblocks.com/accounts/account?name=cyberfund for example. Not what you said "(1) The missing accounts are created in 2.0" above.  >:(

One more question. When could I claim this vested balance?

Sorry, the picture doesn't show for me.  ???

Good idea..  :D
Don't use memo, use the market order book.
For example, if you want to sell/buy something, you create a webpage or blog post or google doc or whatever static with detailed description, sign with your key, and encode the url of the page into a number, then you submit a bid order in a special market with the number as price and/or amount. Others see the order, decode to the url, saw your request, then create a proposal for you.

Another way, (ab)use the committee member info data, can set a url there, update fee is 2 bts.

Yet another way, (ab)use the ASSET info data, can update the description, fee is 20 bts plus 2bts/kbyte of data. Oh, you need 5000 BTS to create an ASSET if not already did.

The golden grail is the "custom" operation, possible to do anything with it.

[21:56:11] C-CEX.com: then what's the difference?
[21:56:18] C-CEX.com: Deposit on me, trade on me, withdraw on me...
OK, let me try to answer.

(better a table here)
Operations --- how traditional exchanges work  --- how BitShares works
user registration --- save user info in database  --- save user info on BitShares blockchain
user login --- user communicates with exchange's server --- user communicates with any online wallet provider (official name?), or websocket service provider  (need a official name here) with a light wallet/mobile wallet
user identification -- user is mostly identified by password/2FA, rarely by public/private key pair (this needs to be confirmed), exchange's server is responsible for identification --- user is identified by public/private key pair, all full nodes of BitShares blockchain are responsible for identification when needed
deposit --- user send coins/fiat to exchange's address/bank account, exchange save info in database --- user send coins/fiat to bridge's address/bank account, bridge issue/send IOU to user on BitShares blockchain
withdraw --- user request withdraw, exchange send coins/fiat to user's address/bank account, save info in database --- user send IOU back to bridge on BitShares blockchain, bridge send coins/fiat to user's address/bank account
trade (submit/cancel order) --- user request, exchange save order info to database/memory --- user request, BitShares save order info on blockchain
trade (show order book) --- fetch data from database/memory --- fetch data from blockchain
trade (match order) --- matching is done by exchange's order matching engine, if able to match, save changes of user balance info / order info / trading history to database --- matching is done by BitShares market engine which is running on blockchain, if able to match, save changes of account balance / order info / order history to blockchain (every full node will check the result)

[21:54:05] C-CEX.com: I don't want to send users elsewhere
Hard to answer this question indeed.
It seems that our first mover, CCEDK, still hasn't migrate their user database into OpenLedger yet. Without this, I don't know how to efficiently use the market engine of BitShares platform. Proxy the user's bid/ask requests to BitShares? Map BitShares's order book and/or trade history to their website? How to handle the fees involved? In the end, is OpenLedger actually independent from CCEDK?

//Edit:
Since they don't even know Bitshares, maybe the first step should be tell them BitShares is on top 10 of CoinMarketCap.com, and ask them to list bts on their own exchange.
