Technical Support / Re: I'm an apathetic voter
« on: January 09, 2016, 02:01:46 pm »
I`m almost a non-voter. Why? Incentives and lack of understanding the proposals.
Plus my skin in the game is not large enough to make a change.
Voting have to be a positive experience.
Make it like Kickstarter, let everyone create beautiful proposals via the GUI or third-party and reward voters.

prime example of giving your small stake to a proxy. that's the kickstarter in our universe
So It's better if proxies explain what they did or will do, explain in more detail what the proposal is and why vote for/against/neutral the proposal. fav I'm not saying that you didn't do that.. Just some thoughts.

Also on the agenda are infographics and image/brand broschures ..
IIRC many users here asked about ... so if u want to make BTS more independet from CNX .. may u should consider to vote for my worker.
Imo your are not competing with CNX, so it's not so independent/decentralized to vote for you..
Honestly I'm still hesitating, although my voting power is small. I did saw your efforts for the community/ecosystem. Sometimes you're very cute. Sometimes I think you asked for too much while many others are working for fee E.G. it's Jakub who made the 2.0 road map and you only posted it to bitshares.org after changed some colors. I think it's better if you're paid by who got direct benefits from you, E.G OpenLedger and/or CNX.
Wrote so much.. sorry if anything offensive, please let me know.

General Discussion / Re: Complementary currencies

Yeah, I have thought about this, but haven't yet contacted anybody. I think these people will need a mobile wallet if they want to take full advantages of Bitshares.

UIA is perfect because they don't get much extra benefits if they would have their own blockchain. There's always a lot of work to keep the blockchain running reliably and safely. With UIA they will get the benefits of cryptocurrency without having to do much work for it.
I agree that a mobile wallet is needed. And a back end (maybe a group of back end providers) instead of one Open Ledger running by their authorities.

I think the "high" fee and/or per-transaction fee may be an obstacle for them to adopt BitShares. Is it possible/practicable to implement a monthly payment model or prepay model? The UIA issuer deposit some fund in the fee pool in a monthly basis, set a white list of holders and manage the list, then users can transfer for free (all fees paid by the fee pool), the issuer charges users by some means E.G. monthly management fee to sustain. With KYC and white list, it's possible to audit and prevent some "bad" users use up the fee pool.

General Discussion / Re: Lessons Learned from Alt Coins

BTW a small amount of Dogecoin popped up in my BTC38 account so there might be a marketing push going on right now.....maybe they are giving people Doge, spreading the word and helping pump up prices..  Anyways China markets are getting crushed and crypto is generally a good safe haven asset anyways and so it's a good opportunity to promote Doge this way.
Due to late of upgrading BTS to 2.0, and to attract more deposit/volume after they upgraded BTS to 2.0, BTC38 recompense the customers who have a BTS balance in their exchange at a dedicated time by dropping some Dogecoin to the customer's account at 10:1 ratio.

I further recommend to use a separate multisig account controlled by people familiar with trading and scripting to not bother the committee more.
How to run a trading bot with a multisig account, would be a challenge. Maybe MAKER is easier/sooner.

For them, which one is better, UIA or a private chain?

General Discussion / Re: exchange preparing for voting

99% of the exchanges can't even follow simple development updates on github. people encouraging them to use their users' funds just want to see the world burn
So your suggestion? Hard-code a list of exchanges and prevent them from voting?

DO something please.

why do you assume that an exchange would vote in a bad way for bitshares? No one can make this assumption.

Because they don't have skin in the game. When people don't have their own money at stake, they don't care how it's spent. Of course they can say that they care, and maybe they do for a while, but in the long run everybody cares more about their own money than others'.

tl;dr Btc38 did earn a large stake of BTS via trading fee of PTS and BTS and DNS. True for Bter and Polo perhaps. But yunbi did not since it's free..

@Samupaha rather than complaining, would you like to provide some constructive suggestions? Imo Xeroc's comment above makes much sense.

Yeah.  I'm at dinner with the wife.  I'll post later.
I just tried by myself.  ;)

//Edit:
So it doesn't recursively check the authorities in case when multi-sig authority involved. A bug?
Imo it's better to set a threshold equals to (total_weight - approve_threshold) for proposal_delete_operation, so the proposal will only be deleted if enough authorities agree to delete the proposal.

//Edit2:
I submitted an issue to github: https://github.com/cryptonomex/graphene/issues/515

I get the same error with the false flag on owner authority.

Also anyone abusing the transaction would need to be voted out.
Can you post here the whole error message when the flag is false? I think it should be different at least this line:
Code: [Select]
{"provided":"1.2.1191","required":[]}

3416
Hmm.. @puppies you may need to set "using_owner_authority" to false, as the committee-account has no owner authority but only active authority: http://cryptofresh.com/u/committee-account
Quote
committee-account 1.2.0
Owner none
Active Multisig Auth

A little off-topic: looks like this proposal_delete_operation isn't well designed. By this way a "bad" committee member is able to prevent anything from happening. Maybe some misunderstanding here..
Quote
This operation allows the early veto of a proposed transaction. It may be used by any account which is a required authority on the proposed transaction, when that account's holder feels the proposal is ill-advised and he decides he will never approve of it and wishes to put an end to all discussion of the issue.

Technically it's dangerous for the system that one can vote for more than 1/2 of committee members, especial when we have voting apathy issue right now, since the committee-account has too much power that we may not aware of. For testing purpose, I'll try to propose some terrible proposals for the committee.

Technically it's unable to recognize an account is an exchange account or not. In addition exchange account can be hacked/compromised, as a result the fund may be transferred to another non-exchange account, so hard-coding the exchange account name is not practicable.

So technically bitcrab's proposal in another thread makes sense. https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,20858.0.html

//Update:
Have proposed a "terrible" proposal: http://cryptofresh.com/p/1.10.50.

Thanks abit.  Do you want to create the new proposal or would you prefer someone else do it?
Yes, I can do it.
So you prefer "expiration_time": "2016-01-18T23:59:59" still?

//Update:
Done.

Hmm.. I missed last mumble session. Could someone please tell me is there anything new? Thanks.

The google translation is terrible. Can you summarize what is being said or asked?
Thanx :)
My English is not as good as google.. let me try:
* use your own faucet instead of the one provided by openledger for account registration, so you can earn more referral income
* market page: ask UIA issuers to pay for listing on a "recommended markets" page
* withdraw/deposit page: ask bridges/gateways to pay periodically for listing, sort the list in descending order by the amount of payment.

GUI弱爆了 要中西合璧啊
bm的cnx把bts后台高稳定。国内互联网找团队把GUI做的牛逼点,提高易用性。还有手机app
支持。
J神赶紧去找个团队来做吧。
