General Discussion / Re: KEEP CALM and Read this Thread
« on: August 28, 2014, 04:24:25 pm »
In this thread I hope to ease some of these concerns by letting you know what protections are in place:
1)  Every time you upgrade to a new version, the wallet data is backed up.
2)  Every time you create an account, the wallet data is backed up.

do you mean it is automatically backed up, or users have to do it by themself?

« on: August 26, 2014, 06:48:42 am »
When I click on BitUSD:BTSX market it will hang.. with the three loading circles. 0.4.8 on Ubuntu.

I am having same issues. Tried git pull master, same result.

I am having the same issue in 0.4.8 and 0.4.8a

and during this long long waiting, the BitSharesX process occupied up to 6G of ram

You cite some of the worst examples of business mismanagement in history as your comparator, and blame the US government for investor losses under Mt. Gox in order to present BTSX as a “compromise” when so compared. There really is no comparison. For the average Joe, the likelihood of losing an FDIC-insured bank account balance is close to zero (which I note the BTSX website claims BTSX is superior to, at least if we assume that by “Swiss bank” the website means a bank of more substantial repute than a local farmers’ cooperative in rural Vermont).

Is this the website that you said you didn't have control over and had asked for the fine print to be more prominent?  Plus everyone knows that the only gauge of a bank is how likely you are to lose your deposit.  No one judges a bank on cost, efficiency, privacy, or morality.

another logical flaw in this paragraph is that the author criticized BM "cite some of the worst examples of business mismanagement in history as your comparator". However,

My article sought to make one point, and one point only.
...
or to put it another way, the value of all outstanding bitAssets will largely exceed the value of all BTSX during a black swan so it will implode on itself.

so the author was critisizing BitSharesX during black swan, while not allowing people to comapre it with BitShares competitiors during black swan.

我想你可以先用0.4.4或0.4.5(不要用0.4.6)
同步成功之後
先備份BitSharesx資料夾
然後升級程式打開看看

KeyID / Re: New TLD proposal: .hodl
« on: August 22, 2014, 10:33:18 am »
I really think .dns is the champion, and .dac is another good choice.

Simple is the best. +5%

To .hodl, I will say no. I'm not gonna to buy or use that kind of domain names. You are trying to complicate things.  :(

.dac and  .dns are great! +5% +5% +5%

General Discussion / Re: New to BitsharesX - some questions
« on: August 22, 2014, 07:58:29 am »
I'm new to BitsharesX, but have a really good understanding of other 2.0 projects like Ripple, Nxt, Counterparty, etc.  I have a few questions about BTSX:

1) What is the transaction speed?
2) How many BitAssets will a single blockchain be expected to support?
3) Who decides which BitAssets are issued on which blockchain?
4) Will all BitAssets be collateralized by BTSX?  If so, what is the mechanism that keeps the price tracking the underlying asset?

A good (and simple) FAQ would be very helpful as a lot of the existing documentation is quite dense to read.  If you want noobs to jump on board, make it easy for them.

If you are familiar with other 2.0 coins, here is a summary table to compare bitsharesx to other 2.0 coins (in the "summary" section):

General Discussion / no sourceforge link for 0.4.4
« on: August 20, 2014, 02:45:25 am »
please provide link for windows and osx version of 0.4.4 wallet in sourceforge too.
in some places the links in github are unavailable, so the sourceforge link is kind of important for every new release.

General Discussion / "Go Back" in lock screen
« on: August 19, 2014, 09:27:21 am »
In lock screen of qt_wallet, I just found that I can do the following things (now I am using 0.4.2 in ubuntu):
1. right click mouse, press "Go Back"
2. the wallet will really go back to the tab before screen locked, and there are a couple seconds before re-lock (this interval may vary depending on the final tab you are while pressing lock).
3. I can prepare a command in my clipboard, paste it, and hit ENTER. This step may require performing step 1-2 for multiple times.

I think basically the information of your account can be obtained using step 1-2 (account names in wallet, transaction histry, etc), and can do something more using step 3
