I have chatted to BM about this.  I am not sure if it is kosher.  Just so everyone knows I am/was one of Brian Pages underlings.  I already receive performance based remuneration.  My original thought was that a delegate role was double dipping.   BM suggested that a delegate role would be supplemental and perfectly valid.  He brought me around on the topic somewhat.

That was why I posted my delegate proposal for the media portion - for supplemental funds to assist in the buildout of the unfortunate part of marketing that isn't fun - paying for exposure.

Either way, keep rocking what you are doing.

Hi Forum,

So later this week I plan on launching a couple of initiatives that have been a long time in the making. I have written a book and will launch a weekly internet show about bitshares.

The primary purpose of these projects is to give a greater suite of tools for people interested in Bitshares to learn more.  I hope you enjoy the tools and they assist everybody in explaining the complexities of BitShares.

I am pleased to say that BM and Stan (among others) have read the book and are pleased with the way it educates the reader about BitShares in an easy to understand way. Even some passionate Bitshare enthusiasts learned a lot and had some difficult concepts crystallized after reading the book.

I am really hoping to get this book to best seller status in its category on Amazon Kindle.   Hence I am giving everyone a heads up now so that you know the book will be available as of Thursday.

If you are on this forum or on the newsletter list you will receive an email also.  The book will be 0.99 cents on kindle and I intend to give away some prizes for reviews and posting on facebook that you purchased the book.  Stay tuned for details about that.

The weekly internet show will also launch at the same time. I think this will be a great avenue to get the word out about bitshares. Hopefully you find them entertaining and educational enough that you might choose to share them with your friends and contacts.

Thanks.

PS: A lot of people worked very hard and contributed to all of these projects, not just me.   On Thursday I will properly credit each of the contributors and thank them for their efforts.

The biggest thing people on the forum can do for this is to buy the book, leave a good keyword rich review of the book.  Then share the book on all social media outlets, and emailing contacts and people you think will be interested.  Bitmarket and I will be working on getting some publicity for the book - ANYTHING you do will be helpful.

Should we still be waiting for the HUGE marketing campaign that will happen or now we should rely on nullstreet marketing for another year?

No need to wait, I've already passed along interview requests to the marketing team.  Marketing has already had phone and in-person meetings with companies we passed their way (debit card and onramps). Max is about ready to launch his book (read it, kicks ass) and BitShares.tv, Method-X and the rest of the gang (too many amazing people to list) are busting ass in different areas. I've put together a media list that covers almost every major article about Bitcoin in the last 6 months and contacted every decent company that's been posted on Coindesk over the last 4 months. All lists were shared with the people needed to see and track progress.  I'm just middle of the road productive, there's people on Nullstreet doing much more. I'm on target to deliver a full summary to Stan by Thursday night for the next newsletter.

No waiting, it's already happening.  I was just viewing the lists and saw Bitmarket, Murderistic and a bunch of other guys on the team working the leads!

More meetings setup for this week, along with working on some media interviews and the launch of Bitshares.tv - more to come.

Was Brian responsible for the on-off ramps that were supposedly being setup?  Funnels?

Those were and are being handled by murduristic, julian, and bitmarket. They're not really any further than if we cold-called 10 more similar companies like hpenvy is doing.

Why were these upcoming onramps hyped as if they were totally ready to go, as soon as the 1.0 release was ready?

In reality it seems we were never as close to bitshares success as we thought we were.

On the other hand, it also means that with the recent incredible successes in contacting a number of businesses, offramps, etc, that HpEnvy accomplished, we are actually further along now than we have ever been.

Actually we still have the two major onramp-offramps that we setup previously in place to use as well as all of the great work Envy is doing.  They never were gone, just on hold until the hard fork was sorted out, etc.

It was great meeting you, and working with you Brian.

I know there are many folks that appreciate what you did and Bitshares, and many that did not.

Either way, I appreciate the effort you put forth and know that there are MANY behind the scenes things you worked on and initiated that folks here do not know about.

Take care, and stay in touch.

Hey Forum,

I'm in the BitShares offices up in Virginia with Dan and the devs today.  I had lunch with Dan and we discussed the exciting new chapter BitShares is starting in 2015.  However, my own chapter with BitShares is now coming to a close.  I've made the decision to resign any sort of official role with the organization in order to persue other opportunities.

I can say without a doubt that some of the new marketing talent that's come on board recently with BitShares and the grassroots marketing team have incredible plans in the works to take the community and business to the next level.  I'm thrilled to see what they can do in the upcoming year.

I believe not only in BitShares but in the ideals of this community and those who lead it.   It's been an exciting and wild ride over the last year or so and I am so incredibly proud to have been a small part of it.  Thank you for the passion and energy you all have brought to this project and for those of you who went above and beyond to put your blood sweat and tears into it.

I can tell you one thing is for sure about this organization: The level of integrity, commitment, and talent with those I worked with are second to none. I trust these people fully and consider them my friends and truly amazing people.  I encourage you to continue investing your time, money and energy in this grand vision that is BitShares.

Wishing each and every one of you the very best in all you do,

Brian

Mobile Responsive is def important for SEO.  The smaller the site file is the better.  Speed of loading site is equally important.

SEO is a non-issue. Mobile optimization and speed is important if you're targeting long-tail keywords. When people search for "bitshares", bitshares.org will always be the first result in Google.

Site load speed is one of the top on site factors for ranking factors according to numerous analysis reports regardless of long tail or short tail.

With all of the delegate craziness going on today we decided to postpone officially registering this delegate until next week.  We already updated to the new version and have everything ready to go.

Since it costs about 1k to register a delegate right now, I will wait until I see how much support this delegate proposal has before committing funds.

Thanks for your consideration.  Please feel free to direct any questions or expectations about the services were are proposing.

After all, Dan has assured us that he is a tough bargainer.

Yes he is.

What is meant by buying author accounts?

That means we can then post articles on those sites as a contributor.  You get a good SEO value from it, as well as get credibility and build your brand and perception about your brand.

This is also an asset we can use to leverage partnerships and help our partners and build out our brand long term.

Can you provide transparency regarding the 15m conditional BTS rewards brian's team gets and your stake in that?

I ask because bitmarket volunteered to not take a paid delegate because he was already part of that arrangement.

That aside, I will vote for you

In my opinion this requires complete transparency on how AGS were allocated which would answer how much was allocated to Brian and what conditions/goals are associated. Then it is on Brian to state how many funds were allocated to what/who and whether conditions are attached.

BitShares is about transparency not about nepotism!

AGS allocation I have no idea about, as well as any other deal made with anyone other than myself.

If a delegate isn't enough, you can maybe work with Adam to tap his vesting balance stream in the short term in exchange for some kind of FMV partnership.

That might be something.  I intended to use these funds to ramp up service as the value increased, or if it says the same build out assets for us to use.

I can only speak to my stake in that agreement.  The agreement was for a sliding scale of rewards based on performance of BTS.  This agreement was between multiple people, me being one of them.

That pretty much secured our consulting, building of marketing funnels, content creation, and all of the other things we will be providing in an ongoing basis essentially hiring us on a conditional basis of only being dispersed to us when certain benchmarks are achieved, and held for a reasonable amount of time.

With my part of the stake, I could gain up to a few million shares of the BTS reward, but we are talking about BTS being well above Bitcoin's today value in marketcap for that to happen. As of right now I have received 2 payments out of a potential of 10 benchmark payments.

As for the paid delegate status, the reason I am making this delegate a paid versus unpaid is the immediate cost of all of the services involved.  If I wanted to get the authorship accounts, buy a couple of banner placements and one month of TV placements right now it would completely wipe out any funds I have been paid to date and then quite a bit more.

With the funds for this delegate, they go to build out the media wing of Bitshares, and enables us to post our own content on these sites, and initiate proactive press and media rather than wait for it to come to us.  There are definite fixed hard costs involved in this process, not only time and opportunity costs.  If there were not fixed hard costs, I would likely opt the same as Bitmarket - but that is not the case.

gonna put you on my slate ..

do you plan to reveal your afk identity?

Yes, I don't mind.

Stan and Dan, Brian, Greg and a few others have met me a few times in person, and we meet weekly on meetings, etc.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Delegate Proposal: stan.delegate.xeldal
« on: December 12, 2014, 09:15:51 pm »
In this thread Bytemaster requested the campaigning of helper delegates for himself, Stan and other core members. My proposal is below. I welcome your thoughts and comments.

For the continued support of Stan as Operations Lead

Pay: 100%

    5% - IT Operations (Xeldal)
95% - Salary paid biweekly (Stan)

Logistics:

Primary delegate run on a Digital Ocean VPS based in Singapore/Amsterdam/San Francisco/London (variable)
Team member in Thailand will act as backup delegate operator in the event Xeldal is 'unavailable'.
(Members in India and the Dominican Republic are also available if necessary)

SLA:

    Block production with 99% reliability
Pay transferred to Stan's account by ~6PM EST daily
Compensation will be 4060 BTS paid daily regardless of actual delegate income (i.e downtime comes out of IT Operations revenue)
Registration fee will be taken from first 2 weeks pay.
First payment will be ~6PM EST Dec 10th.

Edit: 2014-11-26 - payment details
