Also, for some reason I was unable to speak, even after exiting and coming back in twice. It was like my mic was muted.

I do notice however though during startup that the disk access for whatever reason is extremely high. Why so much disk access? Is there some kind of complete reindexing taking place at startup?

Also re the memory usage.. @tonyk2.. the more markets you open the more data you are loading the more gets put into memory. I think this might have been done for the sake of real time data updates going faster rather than attempting to write updates to your hard disk. Updates come in.. more data gets feed into memory depending on what screen you left it on I suppose. In my test I only went to the one market I normally go to.. BTS/BitUSD.

With that in mind.. I am not a programmer.. but I cannot think of an elegant solution from an infrastructure perspective in a p2p network where you don't have that situation in an end client. The only alternative is to centralize that.. which as you know would not be acceptable to a decentralized network... unless...

The other alternative to this that would certainly speed it all up and reduce client resources is going to a web solution.. which we have seen.. it's lighter and puts all the data crunching at the server level instead of the client. That might be what you want to focus on if you do not have system resources available. Running 32bit can't be helping you much either.

I don't know how technically feasible it is to move a client wallet to a web wallet.. far as I know currently it's not possible.. but once it is then it's going to be awesome.

I would really like it if the client would have a call home feature and allow you to download and upgrade right from the client.

So many applications do that today already.. it would also help clients with smoother upgrading if there are certain procedures that have to take place.. like going from one version to another to complete an upgrade.

The check for updates in the current client I have never seen work.

- In the last month what are the top 5 factors that have impacted the market cap of BitShares the most?

- Can there be a system implemented to remove 'offline' delegates from the network to keep what happened with random delegates being voted in that did not even have servers online. Is there some kind of parameter that already exists? This would be a sort of trimming measure to keep dead delegates from filling up empty space. I recommend after 30 days without connectivity to the network. This is in response to the same thing milkmeat is asking about.

- Any chance we can see canceled orders not be charged transaction charges?

That's about all I can think of for now...  +5%

Why the name Ripple?

I can't help thinking 'potato chips' right after I read it.

Was this done by way of being backed by the potato cartels? :)

Welcome to our illustrious community! :)

Hi,

Thanks, but no thanks. Bitcoin and other digital currencies have recently
been outlawed by national legislation in Ecuador.

So your offer has no value to me.

best regards,

Ha.. talk about towing the government line. :)

Sad answer really.. can't see beyond himself.. plenty of charities and others out there that he could have redirected it to.. if his rantings are really in the interest of truth and all that.

Just means there is someone else out there better suited to get the job done.. keep fishing.

Another thing to note.. my memory usage floats around 671 to 675MB.

CPU around 2-4% utilization on standby.. about double that of Google Chrome running in the background.

I don't know if these are targets you were trying to achieve or not.

Also I notice when I click around the Exchange area quickly the client no longer crashes. In 0.6.2 if I didn't wait to allow all the data to load before clicking on another section it would often crash. Now the client seems to handle that condition better.

Was happy I didn't have to redownload/reindex the whole db again on upgrade. Those are brutal.

Will post anything else I notice.  +5% though!

To a certain extent are you not using your own "Bunker" meme, even if tongue in cheek, in a similar marketing effort?

Next I would like to go after the technically savvy "prepper" commmunity  8)

The extent I use the bunker meme in terms of nuclear threat is to the tone of what The Economist has written about the current state of affairs in the world. I don't generally say much about nuclear fallout.. but do talk about the real threat of natural disasters which are on the rise.. and the ultimate threat.. solar flares.

Let me know how you do with preppers.. I've got hundreds of them following my Fallout Complex twitter account. :)

I doubt that's what will be talked about if there is a meeting Friday.

As far as silence goes.. didn't you read the NullStreet Newsletter the other day? Nothing silent about it :)

Installed no problem on Windows 8.1 system with 6GB RAM and SSD drive over 0.6.2.

Loaded up.. logged in no problem.

Went to bitassets, loaded up a little snapper.. thats nice.

Bought some bitUSD at the same ASK for the lowest price.. order processed right away to withdraw my BTS.. but my buy order just sat there.

It took a full 8 minutes until the BitUSD arrive to my wallet.

Normally they was done instantaneously.. but I was doing the opposite normally and buying BTS.

Anyways.. going to take the bitUSD I just bought and go to www.cryptofresh.com and get me a t-shirt now. :)

Sorry but I can't take much of what this guy writes seriously.

I don't know if you ever listened to radio shows in the US.. but they are filled with people like this using language like 'ZioNazi Axis of Evil' to refer to the US as part of the rhetoric to polarize the american people in their politic. When I drive by the boarder on trips and pickup these radio shows it is just astounding the stuff they come up with.

His statements are just part of the fearmongering culture that the opposing political party spews 24/7 year round to influence peoples opinions about .. well.. everything.

I would go for a keychain for sure.

Apple products are rather specific.. I'm an Android fan myself.

General Discussion / Re: Yunbi's two delegates back at the top
« on: March 18, 2015, 07:50:11 pm »
I guess this begs a good question.. at what point do 'dead' delegates get trimmed from the network?

There are parameters to registering them, but are there any parameters to removing them? Or possibly some kind of countdown for which at a certain time of being offline they are just removed from the network? I would suggest something like 1 month perhaps.

I think the vote counts are going up because of everyone moving their BTS out of the exchanges.

Maybe there can be something like a 5% or 10% reduction in their applied vote count for every 30 days of inactivity. Now, how do you define inactivity?

I would define inactivity as simply not being connected to the network... server down.. offline. If a delegate has not maintained a server for 30 days then that's a good indication they are not coming back I would say. Or their commit isn't where it needs to be.
