I am sort of confused by these pieces of bter working while others are not. They are operating as though their site had been deleted and they are slowly restoring it back to its previous functionality. I don't understand how a cold wallet theft should impact everything else the way it has. Shutdown BTC transactions.. allow everything else to carry on.. why not?

Id like to see plenty of bitassets stats in realtime there

Yeah... do for bitassets what bitsharesblocks does for bitshares... make it like a bitcoinwisdom source only for bitassets.

If they actually pay everyone back that is going to be huge news.

BM really seemed to enjoy the hangouts and sharing his thoughts on the forum. Could that new "communication strategy" really come from him, or are we really facing a Chinese whale threatening to dump and kill BitShares price if open communication continues ? This sucks on so many levels, but the worst part is that openness and freedom is what we're supposed to stand for.

This has nothing to do with some Chinese whale . In fact , many Chinese are not whales comparing to the truck load of AGS fund .
I'll attend to the meeting to help clear thing up , to share some thoughts on this .

In fact this is about everyone in this community to play a different role in the system , to take action to support BM and not just by words , to take action to become the voice of this community instead of putting the whole pressure on one single guy . We need guys like Fuzzy to unite the community , we need guys like Xeroc to help provide technical aspect to the public , we need guys from Nullstreet to help marketing and PR , we need guys like Gentso to help business development .

We need to support BM by building a stronger eco-system , not just some fans waiting for his thoughts on subjects . We need to become the thoughts ourselves , so that one day no one would criticize BM for saying something wrong , because by then we'll already have a stronger , united , and capable community that can stand much stronger storm .

This is what BitShares really stands for . Everyone to do their part , we're not the little guys from the community waiting for the big guys like BM to give us guidance . We're the big guys , as big as BM ,even with small stakes that we have in the system . Someday our roles , are even bigger than BM .

Is anyone objecting me to attend ?

+5% ... pretty much what I was thinking.

I am objecting to you attending.. though I support you in participating. ;)

Looking forward to hearing you clarify some misconceptions floating around. I personally don't subscribe to these Chinese whale overlord sentiments, but it's good for those that do to hear the facts.

I would love to be there but I have a prior engagement. Will certainly catch up with the recording!

I think this is only temporary.

I don't think the speculations about why are helpful to anybody short or long term.

Maybe there is something to be said for Walmart morning exercises and chants.

Some youtube videos of the devs spelling B I T S H A R E S while doing stretches would do wonders in many ways. :)

General Discussion / Re: cn-members is abusing his mod powers
« on: February 26, 2015, 03:06:20 am »
cn-members came on Mumble and we talked about all this. We agreed there needs to be a happy medium between massive censorship, and devs being careless with their words.

I proposed to him a very simple solution:

1. Statements, Proposals, blogs, and posts should be peer-reviewed by the dev team before publishing. Their collective social intelligence should be much greater than the sum of their parts, and sufficient for anything blatantly bad PR.

2. The finalized text should be given to a dedicated Chinese community member to translate, to post along-side the text simultaneously.

To this, cn-members told me that they asked for this exactly, many many times over the past year. He said that the problem has come down to habits, and that the dev team needs to be proactive in changing their habits.

Can a dev comment on the above proposal? Are you aware the Chinese has been asking for this? Is there any reason why this cannot be implemented into your communications?

I didn't know this was going on.. but when ths PR thread came out this was exactly what I suggested regarding training devs and changing the culture. It's not the easy way, but it's the better way... and everyone in the end is better for it.

I think this makes sense... I just don't think it is a priority vs. the demands being made on everything else. I can see how this proposal would be treated as a 'we will get to that later' type thing. Problem is the issue festers.

I see no reason why stuff can't be peer reviewed before release. It's just good sense.

There are some good ideas in this thread that have merit.

Anybody like to develop this wallet/exchange? Whos up for it?

Funny how we already solved this problem with DPOS. What do you do when centralization causes bad PR? You move away from centralization. What do you do when you need some element of centralized control? You scale decentralization down to select delegates.

Each person has their own quirks - there is no use relegating PR from one man to the next. If we don't want *everyone* to know, we can still send it out to 11 people for peer review. We can do the multi-sig dance and require 6 of the 11 people to approve a given "official" statement.

thats why we have to from a global PR Team!!!!!
Not just eastern or western - GLOBALLLL!!!!!

@delulo: well said, 2nd that!

Global sound good to me. It might help us make inroads into more markets that way. We already have a diverse community that could lead an initiative like this.

I get the feeling from this that it is a knee-jerk reaction to what happened with toast last week.

I don't know if this is the right course to take. This might only be a symptom of the limitations imposed by using a forum as the medium for communication vs. possibly other newer methods.

I guess that wouldn't stop the off cuff commentary.. but maybe instead of putting it in the hands of one.. take efforts to train the culture of the devs to just follow certain protocols. In the end they will be more cohesive I would think.

I dunno just some thoughts.
