General Discussion / Re: Is NXT legitimate?
« on: December 22, 2013, 09:21:02 pm »
AFAIK the source code has already been released, but with errors in important parts to stop copycats (and bounties to find them (the errors)). Good idea IMHO.
NXT is as important as eMunie and ProtoShares/BitShares will be. All the other Bitcoin altcoins/childcoins will die, they're just playmoney. The future is NXT, eMunie and PTS/BTS. And Bitcoin - but just because 1) it was the first and 2) there will be Mastercoin --- but not because Bitcoin is the best.
I think the ideas behind NXT, eMunie, BitShares (and maybe Mastercoins) and DACs are ingenious and that's why they will be the future.

Keyhotee / Re: Keyhotee & Spam
« on: December 20, 2013, 12:49:26 pm »
Whether POW systems can actually solve a particular denial-of-service issue such as the spam problem is subject to debate; the system must make sending spam emails obtrusively unproductive for the spammer, but should also not prevent legitimate users from sending their messages.
(Wikipedia)

(How) did you solve it?

Keyhotee / Keyhotee & Spam
« on: December 20, 2013, 12:31:33 pm »
As I'm not exactly sure how Keyhotee is going to handle things I was wondering if spamming (spam mails) would be possible in that system?
Everybody can create as much IDs as he wants (right?). These IDs don't have a big reputation in the beginning - but can be used to send mail (right?). You can send messages to everybody by just knowing their Keyhotee-IDs - or even easier: by just using a dictionary.
Is there going to be a feature like a spam filter (maybe filtering by sender-ID "reputation level")?
How does Keyhotee handle spam?

BitShares PTS / Re: Keeping track of projects that make use of your PTS
« on: December 19, 2013, 01:16:09 pm »
Misunderstanding on my side, I guess. PTS must only be honored by DACs from Invictus, but can be honored by every other DAC.

And I think FreeTrade primarily honored PTS for marketing purposes, to pump his coin.

General Discussion / Re: Exchange all BTC for PTS - what would you do?
« on: December 19, 2013, 10:39:30 am »
I'd day the developers should choose the rate (carefully)

I'd say there should (could) be rules for it.
Then again, if the conversion rate of a new DAC would be too bad from the beginning maybe few PTS holders would "invest" in it.
But... then again... I somebody creates a DAC that depends on support of the PTS holders... it doesn't sound like a good idea to even create it.
Meaning: every new DAC-creator could just ignore the PTS holders. If his idea is good enough he will get enough investments from other sources.

General Discussion / Exchange all BTC for PTS - what would you do?
« on: December 19, 2013, 07:34:10 am »
I thought about exchanging all my BTC to PTS. Mainly because I thought PTS would return much more in the long run.

I still think that would make sense if 1 PTS = 1 Share in every new DAC.
But, unfortunately - as seen with MemoryCoin2 - it seems like it's possible for the new DAC to define the conversion rate, for example: 10 PTS = 1 MC.

So if every new DAC just defines 1 PTS = 0.00000001 "NewDAC" ... the PTS would probably be almost worthless.

I think some kind of "social contract" should define that 1 PTS must always be 1 (full) unit in a new DAC.

Am I getting something wrong?

BitShares PTS / Re: Keeping track of projects that make use of your PTS
« on: December 19, 2013, 07:16:49 am »
Maybe you should add the conversion rate for each DAC.

Memorycoin 2.0 for example exchanges 10 PTS for 1 MC.

That, I think, is a major flaw in the PTS design. If I wanted to create a DAC and keep PTS holders out of it, I just define "1000 PTS = 0.0001 MyDACs". I thought to any new DAC applies: 1 PTS = 1 NewDAC. Obviously I got something wrong. Again.

General Discussion / Re: BTS when will it be developed

BTS will be develop when is ready. Everybody want using BTS. Everybody wait. Developer strong work make BTS fast reality.

Now when people in China figure out that they can still do trading in free space with BitShares and won't need to exit to fiat space to do many types of transactions, we could now become even more interesting to them. The more governments tighten their fists, the more interesting free space becomes, no?
That message should be the only marketing PTS/BTS/Invictus would ever need.
It just has to be heard. (Hello Brian!)

General Discussion / Re: Why we need Angel Shares
« on: December 17, 2013, 07:27:00 pm »
PTS mining at current difficulty is no more profitable. It's an investment hoping for higher PTS value in the future.
I wonder how the initial Angelshare investment would look. Early birds get 1 share for 0.01$?

Not knowing what the bounties would be I'd like to say that I (probably) don't like the idea as I don't have much time to work for bounties... But I would always have a few minutes time to set up 10(0) miners.
Of course it's stupid to waste money into mining-heat. But at least if you're on of the "early birds" your (stupid) mining could bring you a lot more than you invest (as long as difficulty is low).
I don't see that kind of chance right now with Angelshares. (How) does the early bird profit for being faster than others?

Keeping PTS "1.0" as they are is necessary and good. Even if mining doesn't pay at current rates / difficulty, but no one knows where PTS will be in 2014.

As for Angelshares/coins I'm not sure how they could be evenly/fair divided. Angelshares without mining would mean already rich people will get even richer by being able to invest more BTC into Angelshares right from the beginning. By mining poorer people would be able to get a good amount of "coins" while difficulty is low. - If Invictus wants to avoid mining they should think about mechanisms to give poorer investors a chance of getting lots of Angel"coins" by being fast/early/whatever. Just being rich shouldn't give anybody such a huge advantage at the start of a new "investment round".
