Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Delegate Proposal: delegate.media
« on: December 14, 2014, 04:47:41 am »
Can you provide transparency regarding the 15m conditional BTS rewards brian's team gets and your stake in that?

I ask because bitmarket volunteered to not take a paid delegate because he was already part of that arrangement.

That aside, I will vote for you

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Delegate Proposal: media-delegate

Maybe we should consider "freezing" all marketing related  delegate initiatives until the 1.0 wallet  is out and we have the opportunity to evalute the results of the current marketing efforts.

Should I also stop all the massive amounts of time I put into developing lists of writers that have covered Bitcoin? How about the contacts that the marketing team is meeting with because of my insomnia push of about 80 companies (Coinbase, ShiftPayments and Hellobit are a few)? How about the interview requests that have now came in because I'm tweeting like a teenager on meth.  I'm not being sarcastic, I'm seriously asking.  I would hope some of you spend some time over at NullStreet and see all the work that's happening behind the scenes.    It's easy to request a freeze on marketing activities, however, freezing until 1.0 would be the opposite of what I'd do personally.

I don't take money from anyone, so I'm fine either way. Maybe a few more hours a day outside would do me good. :)  All that has been done for free, imagine if we had a few paid delegates doing the same thing. Putting the right people in the right seats on the bus is the solution.  I've been asked to run as a delegate, I have mild to little interest.  What I want to see happen is people behind the scenes get the funding necessary to push the initiatives on NullStreet.  That would be a huge win.

General Discussion / Re: BitGOLD & BitSILVER and other BitCommodities

I see BitSilver has enough feeds, great. I might get me some of that tomorrow.

Previously I probably would have preferred to wait to open too many BitAssets or waste money advertising them but with BitReserve on the pitch now, opening up more BitAssets and advertising that we have them if possible is the right approach imo.

Mumble chats moving up in professionalism.  The intro is a far cry from my awkward half-hearted attempts at intros.  Wow sounds like a real show !

That intro rocked hard.

"Why don't you guys put together a Cass-ready summary of Everything of Earth-Shattering Significance (EESS) that has happened since the last newsletter (everything that people who aren't following the forum should know.)

That would include an update on BTS, PLAY, PTS, SPARKLE and PEERTRACKs and any other ecosystem-wide news that's fit to print - especially what's happening on NullStreet. "

A nice summary after the snapshot with any type of pictures would be preferred.

Im wondering in the future which blockchain would you prefer be used for Tor domain lookup? Will it be BitShares, Namecoin or Ethereum?

It depends on the security, I haven't had the time to review how POS impacts the security model.

If its going to be BitShares, are you or someone here going to create a patch of the Tor Browser that looks up domain names on the BTS blockchain, and hope that the Tor project accepts the patch ?

The first step to build a compatible solution, then worry about integration with Tor.  We are actually anticipating that we will have to throw away whatever solution we end up using initially.  Fundamentally, the browsers need to modularize their system for checking the authenticity of certificates.  We can still build a secure interim solution but the options are all hacks.

I won't be doing that coding.  I'm a UX developer, I enjoy programing and I do have to understand the internals of these systems but I stay away from any security related code.

Im also wondering what you think of the anti squatter ideas that were part of the DNS plan? As I understand it an organisation like Wikileaks would have to compete in a DNS auction to get its Wikileaks.bit domain name.

I'm not familiar with them all, but I don't care for your auctioning of domain names.  I am something of an anti-squatting crusader but I think the problem is overblown.

UX development expertise would be phenomenal to augment the rest of the BitShares development team. :)

General Discussion / Re: October Newsletter - Halloween Edition

Well, OK.  Let's go ahead and give this a try!

Why don't you guys put together a Cass-ready summary of Everything of Earth-Shattering Significance (EESS) that has happened since the last newsletter (everything that people who aren't following the forum should know.)

That would include an update on BTS, PLAY, PTS, SPARKLE and PEERTRACKs and any other ecosystem-wide news that's fit to print - especially what's happening on NullStreet. This goes out to more that 700 people who have signed up on the mailing list and the target audience for your section is people interested enough to sign up but who don't follow the forum closely - so any must-read forum postings should be mentioned with a link.  If anyone wants to add in a custom article or two, that's good too.

I'll leave it to your team's judgment about how to turn the Newsletter into a Weapon of Mass Distinction (WMD).

I'll still provide a Featured Article and we'll ask Cass to merge them into a Thing of Profound Beauty.

How does that sound?

Agreed. Posting now.

Hey everyone!

Here is the December 12th 2014 Mumble Chat recording.

*edited version

In the mumble BM, you talked about possibly adding bonds into 1.0.  If it's only going to take another week or two, that seems like a nice feather in our cap.

Another great looking site.

Within a few seconds, I know what's going on with the product.

Would like to hear some comments on this site's approach.

Do we have an ETA for the next newsletter that gets blasted to our subscribers?

Long, long before this...

Working on it now.

Do you need additional help on future issues so we're able to make it closer to a monthly release?

That would be very desirable.

Head on over to NullStreet, tell us specifically what you need and we'll make it happen.  We produce a weekly marketing letter already.  It might not have the same flair but it does outline all the major efforts.

Then again maybe Method and Stacey are already part of Brian's team? Has MethodX revealed his identity?

The only thing that matters to me is results.

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=12131.0

MethodX's initiative has encouraged a large group of people busting ass for this community daily in the marketing side of the house on NullStreet.  He could be the Jolly Green Giant for all I care, results.  All our efforts are completely open on NullStreet.
