Technical Support / I need some help with recovering
« on: January 09, 2016, 07:27:34 pm »
That is my story.
In a day BitShares 2.0 was released (13 october) I downloaded new full client and claimed some of my funds into it.
Everything worked fine except of one thing: you remember that initially backup didnt worked in full clients. I tried to do it using light wallet, but it failed to start. I decide to write down by brainkey instead of a wallet backup.
Two weeks later my full client have been stuck after hardfork. So I tried to import my brainkeys into openledger web wallet. Some of my accounts have been imported, but the 2 most important accounts just don't appear. I decide to wait some time until (1) a new version of light client will work to export my wallet or (2) there will be available new working build of a full client for osx. But nothing happens since.
The newest light client still show this error (1) on launch:
Code: [Select]
A JavaScript error occurred in the main process
Uncaught Exception:
SyntaxError: Unexpected end of input
    at Object.parse (native)
    at module.exports (/Applications/BitShares2-light 4.app/Contents/Resources/app.asar/vendor/electron_boilerplate/window_state.js:25:40)

    at Object.<anonymous> (/Applications/BitShares2-light 4.app/Contents/Resources/app.asar/electron.js:107:3)
    at Module._compile (module.js:430:26)

    at Object.<anonymous> (/Applications/BitShares2-light 4.app/Contents/Resources/atom.asar/browser/lib/init.js:110:4)
And (2) there is no builds of a full client available.
Also (3) I'd happy to import my keys manually from some directory but there is no a word in any docs about location of such files.

Please help to fix this. I need to recover my keys :-)

Hi guys. I'd like to share a paper draft and a corresponding PoC implementation of what I am working on.

tldr:
Paper: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Vz-yS9W-l-Wdqbw3n0SFwXyYFv0Xo-F4i8NbXQvGHxg/edit
PoC implementation: https://cyber.fund/tracking (sortable by rating)

Here are 2 reasons why I need such a thing:
1. Coinmarketcap sucks for me. Superficial methodology of cap calculation, proprietary software, almost absence of due diligence for markets and systems, no transactional analytics. That is definitely not the information I would like to rely on my investment road.. I believe it could be done better.
2. BTS is awesome but it could not be the one. Other awesome technologies such as Ethereum are being developed in parallel. So I expect explosion of high quality investment opportunities. Basic idea behind cyber•Rating is to gather all meaningful cryptoproperty regardless of underlying technology. Think of it like S&P of blockchains. But S&P is not just a rating. It rely on IFRS or GAAP. So when I started to work on rating I stuck with an issue of comparable reporting and criteria. I came to exciting conclusions that could become foundations for the Internet of things, values, chains and everything.

In a paper I discuss design of a proposed system. All reporting logic is based on a foundations that has been built by BitShares. So thank you all. Paper is a draft and is not published yet. A document is editable by anybody.

Please, help to correct the grammar. I am not the best English writer so I know there are a lot of mistakes. I assign a small bounty 10000 bts for those who will help to do it in next 48 hours. I'd like to submit this paper to http://ledger.pitt.edu/ and there are 2 days left :-(

Please, help outline flaws in design. I assign a small bounty of 10000 bts which I split between the most active participators. Think of this bounty as a "thank you" but not as a reward for a job.

PoC implementation in fact does not implement blockchain reporting yet and this is an issue for the next year. But even now it show very interesting non opinionated results that are far better than Coingecko.

Christmas Bonus: https://cyber.fund/tracking contain very interesting CMGR indicator that you wont find anywhere. We've audited all historical data for all blockchains that allow to calculate Compound Monthly Growth Rate. It like CAGR but monthly. It is recalculated real time. Enjoy!

General Discussion / Re: Basket MPA
« on: December 24, 2015, 09:20:10 pm »
if you need assistance of technical nature to do this, please drop me a line.

I like the idea very much but hesitate to do it my self for legal concerns in my country

Recently we've finished a work on parsing aggregated and high quality market feed for 24 crypto exchanges. http://45.55.24.178/api/markets
There will be an API and the feed itself is open source (unlike Coinmarketcap data). Hope soon we integrate it in cyber•Fund app.
But basically that is mean that now we can and interested in creating investment products very similar to how this guys do https://www.motifinvesting.com/motifs but for crypto.

The first product we'd wanted to create is a basket of "blue chips" based on our rating. Please don't confuse it with an old static one :-) Those was just a starting point. The new is really comprehensive and give interesting results. Look for youself https://cyber.fund/tracking (need to be sorted by rating and not NedoRating). It effectively filter all crypto crap and sort (though some points in methodology are still should to be improved) the most interesting blockchain projects. We can create MPA based on a basket of TOP-5, TOP-10, Top-20 assets based on this foundation. To be honest I didn't think how to compute it yet, but that is just a task.

But to plan this implementation I should answer some questions:
  • What is fee for creation of MPA? (did not find it anywhere)?
  • Can I setup fee for transactions involving my MPA?
  • How to motivate witnesses to support price feeds for my MPAs? or do I need to become a witness?
  • How do you think how much liquidity initially we need to put into such MPA?
  • And of course how do you think is there demand on such MPA out where or not?
Could you help to answer?

Update: Clarifications and typofixes

General Discussion / Re: How to bootstrap bitUSD liquidity?
« on: October 22, 2015, 12:09:29 pm »
Basically, do the same thing NBT did - have not just a price feed tool, but also a tool that provides liquidity to the acct owner.

Have a parameter, such as % around price feed. e.g. I'd set mine to 1% around price feed.

I know NBT is more centralized, but there are some good lessons to be learned from their experiment.
Absolutely!
Guys from Nubits already find a way to create motivation (risk free transactional profit) and create necessary tools (bots for centralized exchanges). Proposed worker should just copypaste what Nubits did, but do it better: We should create open source service that will allow (1) to deploy liquidity bots to DI or AWS or whatever else and (2) find a way to publish analytics. Thus could exist (1) competition between bots and (2) competition between market makers.
I'd suggest a full paid worker for this task.

Also!
There is essential motivation for existing central exchanges to create bitUSD pairs (for example bitUSD instead of Tether on Polo). So every exchange will be able to earn referral revenue just because they registered users.
I'd suggest a full paid worker for somebody from leading exchange to create success story.

I didn't catch how to claim balance from BTS 0.9?
Could somebody explain?

Thanks! Import Keys, but not Restore Backup...

Please explain what you mean under "Accounts Upgrade"?

Our basic assumption stems from Github model that proved to be viable.
Money like a code. If they opened, they could generate organic growth for a service (remember that there are a lot of undiscovered yet cases there open model is needed) and create public good. If they closed - they could not. Thus this services should be paid to recover costs of public goods.

there are lots of things to offer as paid bonus. eg adding more coins to portfolia, update times.

but I'd expect that my investment is hidden to the public, unlike github, we're talking about peoples money. it's the core feature in my opinion

Business model is a complicated thing... We, of course, should try to invent a better wheel :-) So your idea matters.
What if, let's say, service will offer one free private account with unlimited assets? Would that fit for you?

yes!

After a long internal debates we decide to offer 14 day free trial on private accounts.
But they could be basically free, because eventually could be paid in tokens that you can earn doing good things :-)

Technical Support / Re: [ANN] BANX Capital Joins BitShares Exchange Network

New Banx Update Folks :) >> http://banxcapital.com/banx-update-2nd-aug-2015/

Mark! Why do you need 6 screens that display exactly the same information?

Hey, there are 6 of them for the idiots like me with extremely short attention span - so we can get the point.  But even that did not work - I was watching that damn loose parrot the whole time.

:-) I try to convince myself that Banx is not a scheme, but every time something bad happens. Uncontrolled supply. Zero transparency. And bang - 6 (!). I suppose that is the answer.

Feel free to add me on skype ID mjlyford , lets have a call, ask me anything
I already asked :-)
I have 3 questions concerning your scheme:
1. Explain regular issuance of Banx Shares. I didn't find this info anywhere
2. Prove (oh yeah - show transactions) that dividends was not paid from selling issued tokens
3. And after this I'd like to hear your story about 6 screens by skype
