Technical Support / Re: [ANN] BANX Capital Joins BitShares Exchange Network

Mark! Why do you need 6 screens that display exactly the same information?

Hey, there are 6 of them for the idiots like me with extremely short attention span - so we can get the point.  But even that did not work - I was watching that damn loose parrot the whole time.

:-) I try to convince myself that Banx is not a scheme, but every time something bad happens. Uncontrolled supply. Zero transparency. And bang - 6 (!). I suppose that is the answer.

General Discussion / Re: BTS 2.0 release date predictions
« on: July 21, 2015, 02:20:41 pm »
It would be awesome if there was some sort of a prediction market that could be used to for people to bet on the release date of bitshares 2.0.
Augur?

How is it possible that ethereum has a bigger BTC marketcap, compared with bitshares, but not $ wise?
It's just sorted by BTC valuation...

n/A
Please explain what you mean! :-)

It seems that since it is human decided, its basically a rating service, similar to stock analysts.

Usually such analysts will call a 5 star pick a "buy" and a 1 star a "sell", instead of referring to something they give 1 star to as "crap".  :P

Its kindof funny to see a rating site declare something to be "crap" (especially when one doesnt like it), but it doesnt seem that professional.

Our rating is not about buy / sell rather remember / forget. We don't want to make it for speculations but for long term investments. It is quite possible to calculate positions especially for purposes of speculations. Instead we aim to look deeper.

Statement: If network effect has been established it's impossible to break it.

Thus the more established network effect - the higher the rating. We believe that such approach will allow our users to gain more from investing in blockchains. Look to CoinGecko! The do a great job and try to calculate everything. But Primecoin ranked #18. Compare it with our approach with BitShares music on the #18 posstion. There is your money? In Primecoin or BitShares music?
The deal with cyber•Rating is that I can give personal advice for my personal and social graph to invest in top rated assets, but cannot do it with Coinmarketcap or CoinGecko. Do you?

Unprofessional word "crap"? What word do you like to use for asset like Bilshares (don't confuse with BitShares)?
- #62 on Coinmarketcap with cap of $420k
- traded on 1 chinese exchange
- 1 initial commit one year ago
- site don't work
- blockexplorer don't exist
Please suggest professional word and we will use it. :-)

I thought exactly about that. How do you think what metrics make sense for pegged assets instead of inflation/deflation?

Best metric for a pegged asset I think is how far away from the peg it trades on average.  So, if it usually trades within 1% or so of the peg, it would be very good, but if it was often 10% or more away it would be terrible.

(Getting solid data on this is hard though.  Often when coinmarketcap says that one of these pegged assets is far away from the peg, what actually occurred is that the price of the crypto went up or down a lot, but the pegged asset hant traded since then, so its price hasnt adjusted.
Yes. It is complicated at these point of time. We would not index Bitshares blockchain until 2.0 came.
Agree that these kind of metric make sense, but that is not exactly about supply. Supply also matter for pegged assets anyway... What about changes in supply: Degradation / Evolution ?

And I guess some people here will be disappointed that Qora is in the "crap" category.

Agree. Guys so long stayed in the shadow so... Thanks for notice.

If the rating is because the creator (Qora) left, are you aware that Qora was picked up by several new developers after the creator left the project, and development is now ongoing, they have had several new releases over the past few months each one containing new features?

Wait until people see v22, which should be released any day now.  I have to question the validity of any ranking system that has Qora listed as "Crap". It shows that very little, if any, research was done.
We've use this ranking system internally for almost a year. Thus 'Qora crap thing' is historical stuff and will be reviewed ASAP.
The best solution is to enrich metadata yourself and make a pull request.
https://github.com/cyberFund/chaingear/blob/gh-pages/sources/Qora/Qora.toml
Next thing to release is nice landing pages for systems with an option for customization by developers.

Another note:

Bitshares music is liquid (barely), via trading internally in Bitshares.  It is the NOTE asset.
You can see info for it here:
https://bitsharesblocks.com/asset/orderbook?asset=NOTE

Its actually down about 50% or so from the listed price that you have, its under a million now.  It has daily volume in the $1-3k range.
Trade volumes counts for Notes.

We have liquidity grade. Calculated as Daily Volume / Market Cap:
< 0.1% — Illiquid
< 0.3% — Very Low
< 0.5% — Low
< 1% — Normal
< 2% — High
> 2% — Very High
> 3% — Crazy

Do you think we should improve it? Why?

  • You have problem with your ceritificate. Chrome does not trust your site.
Thanks. Could you provide more information? Screenshots, Chrome version, OS..
We've tested certificate in all browsers...

A note: For bitUSD it lists inflation as high, but that doesnt really make sense.  Other bitAssets are stable as they should be.  CoinoUSD also has inflaiton, which I dont think makes sense either for these pegged coins.
I thought exactly about that. How do you think what metrics make sense for pegged assets instead of inflation/deflation?

And you should change the notation for small numbers:

Price per 1 Qora:
Ƀ 7.09308e-8
Thanks. Will be fixed next release

Are all the ratings mathematically determined based on the other factors, or is there a human going through at the end and rating things?
Nice effort but.. what's clearly missing is an explanation on your website what criteria you use for the rating system.
And how did you arrive at valuations of assets which are not traded anywhere e.g. Factom or Ethereum?
  • I could not find your rating criteria in 2 minutes time. Gave up.
I like it, but how are the rankings determined? If BitShares has a few hundred dollars more in trading volume than NXT, does that make it better?
Nope. Human going through and rate.
That is really complicated issue. To calculate growth rate (or measure feedback loop) I see at least 4 things should be clear for majority of systems:
- precise historical off chain market data
- indexed blockchains
- twitter sentiments analysis
- historical conversion rate within our site
That is actually huge amount of work ahead, so we decide to start from less complicated things and just go further as we gather and analyse more data.
Thanks for a feedback. We'll add description of the rating soon with faces who rated all this stuff.
Once we gather enough data there will be a bounty for a best algo proposal with access to our indexing cluster. Though that is not so close opportunity :-(

Really nice alternative to coinmarketcap!
Thanks...  But we don't want to directly compete with CMC. We aim to transform low quality informational service into high quality investment service
