Follow My Vote / Re: FMV mentioned on Safe Network Forum (Maidsafe)
« on: March 14, 2016, 07:00:00 pm »
Sincerely looking forward to the Follow My Vote service (and DNS!)

Wishing MUSE and PLAY could also be Bitshares native, with common bitAssets.

Yes, the amazing evolution of this technology is unfolding in front of our eyes. Exciting times. I would like to see community currencies spread along with autobridging, pathfinfing or whatever they call it. I see this more suitable for BitShares than Ethereum, but ethereum guys are ahead on this matter. https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/48ad3b/community_currency_now_live_on_the_blockchain/

Indeed, autobridging/pathfinfing as an option would be a better fit for Bitshares than Ethereum, seeing as Bitshares already provides numerous useful assets.

Perhaps there's a modest worker/poacher proposal in it.

It almost feels like Ethereum (and perhaps some others) has been adopted by whales and presented as a red herring, to distract the masses while they quietly accumulate Bitshares.

The Ethereum user experience is dire compared to what Bitshares is running with.

Counterparty risk reduction is an incentive towards keeping bitshares off exchange. NXT was disappeared in large quantities from an (bter?) exchange hack, despite its lotto.

General Discussion / Maker Taker on Polo
« on: March 10, 2016, 02:25:11 am »
So Poloniex are doing maker-taker pricing. That seems to be the dominant paradigm. I don't believe Bitshares does that, and I realise the pricing is being reworked (fee-free) - but even still, shouldn't there be a maker-taker element?

If there already is such consideration in effect, then I do apologise.

Agreeing, I only very recently discovered how to use my link, via informal direction on this forum, which is absolutely sub optimal.

Lets say sometime in future I go to Starbucks to buy a cup of coffee and pay them with asset/currency of their choice even if I dont have any in my possession at that moment. Lets say all I have is some FISTBUMPS which have a value for somebody in the network but who is also willing to trade it only with some other asset and not with what I need , and I still cant pay the coffee with.

And the system on my phone app says : " Mr. bitacer, the system can match your order using our advanced order matching across different markets, and the bid price will be xxxx, if you approve this order will be executed, do you accept?"

and right there at that moment I will have the value that Starbucks accepts.

will that be possible one day ? This would be the ultimate liquidity , no need to search and/or wait for my order to be executed, the system would do it for me.

Very cool indeed. I believe this is something Ripple, or Hyperledger does. I reckon Bitshares could manage a one-many-one market order function. Easily said.

Boy does ETH ever feel like a bubble now, but like all good bubbles it just keeps going up.

Good lord does the bubble ever burst?? I've never seen a crypto just go up...and keep on going up. I'm starting to doubt it's ever gonna pop and it'll just keep going until it takes over bitcoin.

Why the hell I didn't put some cash in around $30 mil cap a few months back is beyond me...I just would've never thought this kind of growth was possible.

Yes, I'm considerably jealous.  :P

This could so easily be a Bitshares hindsight. Of course from 1/3 of the base, the growth would be 3x crazy.

Random Discussion / Re: Monero

I hear what you are saying. But to investors. Its just another altcoin. As is BTS. Is Ethereum? Is safecoin? Im not sure.

I like Monero but my book it is just a best in class altcoin, good as a bitcoin hedge as Ander suggests.

Bitshares is more comparable with Ethereum and Safecoin (were safecoin more than vapourware) imo.

My problem is, I've elected to buy 10 USD at a price of 0.003875. The computer says naah and counter-offers me 0.0038. If that isn't a feature, it's a bug.

My confirmation dialogue is expressing the price inversely to my writing it, which is slightly frustrating - that confirmation figure isn't something i can work with unless I fetch a calculator. But when I do so, I realise all of my precision orders have been rounded down. However, orders to 6 decimals do appear in the order book, and so far as I can tell I have been able to generate some of them myself, perhaps only when the interface is orientated the other way, (BTS:USD /  USD:BTS).

While I'm at it, I had a similar gripe with the interface when it offered me the ability to pay a transaction fee in 30 BTS or X USD. I chose to pay in BTS, and was charged 32 BTS. Certainly, that might be how things are supposed to work when transferring USD or whatever I was doing, but as finicky as it may seem, where it comes to financial exchange software, things like fees and decimal places being as written, do matter.

Most recent download. Doesn't seem to work to 4 decimals here. Misleading.
