Random Discussion / Crazy smart contracts on digital steroids.
« on: March 15, 2016, 09:58:37 pm »
Imagine a programmer creates a smart contract as an investment firm.  This DAC generates portfolios, takes on investors (most of which are smart contracts themselves), and makes investments based on algos, news feeds, risk management, etc.  After a prescribed period of time (or autonomously) the board of directors (also a program function) fires the CEO, the programmer who created the smart contract.  The DAC uploads the tax code of its country of origin, creates a strategy to pay little or no taxes, or just ignores all global tax revenue collection agencies.  This one DAC now has tens of thousands of investors world wide. A few are direct biological investors, but most are other DACs! :o

Cob, if somewhere in your grand scheme for Muse includes adding a music gaming portal, please check out Soshi Games folding at its attempt.

Actually this short video might give investors an idea of some of the types of complex problems you might be dealing with bringing Muse to fruition.

General Discussion / Bitshares pegged assets for bitcoin arbitrageurs?
« on: February 11, 2016, 10:59:21 pm »
Now that zero-confirmation bitcoin transaction companies exists like BitGo Inc. (https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/bitgo-announces-launch-of-bitgo-instant-for-zero-confirmation-bitcoin-transactions-1453215361), would not Bitshares pegged-assets be an attractive destination to address the "fiat problem" for arbitrageurs?

General Discussion / Private keys into BTS 0.9.3c.
« on: October 14, 2015, 02:46:48 am »
Can I still import btc private keys from Peertracks presale into BTS 0.9.3c wallet in order to export to 2.0 wallet?
BTW Severe network problems on 0.9.3c.  Anyone else?

I still have several (7) btc private keys that need to be imported into my bitshares 0.9.3c wallet (Windows 7).
These are from the Notes presale exported from my Armory wallet. I previously imported 5 keys and rescanned (hour before 2.0 official launch time).
Right now my 0.9.3c wallet says "Severe network problems | Blocks are synced."
Can I import my remaining private keys into 0.9.3c now and rescan?
Should rescan command be "rescan 340000"?  Why 340000?
Will current Severe network problems status cause problems?
Since my account only gives a NOTE total how can I be sure all 12 of my keys get imported?
Total number of NOTEs X current BTC NOTE value = total bitcoins sent to presale?

Technical Support / Wallet v0.4.24 problem.
« on: November 20, 2014, 02:08:22 am »
I installed Bitshares-v0.4.24.exe on my Windows 64-bit laptop.
Selected Run Bitshares at end of install.
Everything seemed to update O.K.
Bitshares shortcut was place on desktop (actually it was a shortcut to my BitsharesX).
When installing Bitshares I didn't notice the install defaulted to BitsharesX directory.
Couple of days later I clicked on shortcut to launch Bitshares. Blocks would not sync.
Finally realized I was trying to run BitshareX.
So I reinstalled Bitshares-v0.4.24.exe to a /Bitshares(not /BitsharesX) directory.
Next I imported my backup wallet.
Transaction scanning progressed to 22% before block syncing began.
As soon as block syncing began, transaction scanning stopped at 22%.
"Last block was synced 3d 1h 44m 22s ago".
Even with 5 network connections no more blocks would sync.
If I try to Quit Bitshares while blocks are trying to sync, program crashes. 'Bitshares (not responding).'
So next I launch Bitshares while disconnected from internet to allow transaction scanning to complete.
After scanning is 100% complete I then reconnect to internet.
Block syncing began but does not progress. Sometimes goes 'Not connected'.

Also if I don't unlock wallet before block syncing begins then password verification stalls.
So I unlock through 'Accounts Go to My Accounts' menu selection.
Now I'm into my accounts window but I can still see opaque image of password box from start-up screen (with the 3 cycling dots).

Any suggestions?
Anyone having similar problem?

Could there a problem in the use of pro-rata valuation of Notes acquisition?
Let's say someone chooses to acquire 5 BTC worth of Notes a day for 20 or so consecutive days. And 5 BTC represents the highest on each of those days (with the next highest being around 1.5 or 2 BTC).  If you throw out the highest and lowest on any one of those days, then the percent difference can be as high as 40+ percent, based on the angelshares explorer charts.  Everyone else's Notes value would get substantially diluted by just one person.  I'm not a statistician, so would somebody please verify my assessment.  Actually there IS someone acquiring a relatively large number of Notes every day.  I want to acquire some Notes, but I don't want my Notes value diluted by one whale buying daily.  Anyone wanting 1 BTC or less of Notes may be hesitant to get them.  Also, the donation list of agsexplorer.com doesn't seem to update on my Firefox browser unless I leave the page and return to it.  Is anyone else experiencing this behavior?
