General Discussion / Venezuela urgently needs Bitshares

Just look at this article. What if they had their own Venezuelan Asset :)

http://arstechnica.com/business/2014/12/man-who-bought-bitcoin-startup-assets-speaks-raising-even-more-questions/

"My business in Venezuela distributes to large companies," he wrote. "We do not sell in small quantities (retail). I think there are no more than 10 companies or individuals working/accepting bitcoin in Venezuela, it really is an unknown subject."

Counterparty risk vs. risk for systematic failure

its the taks of the investor to pick a side ;)

Not only the investor, but also (and more importantly), the user.

One thing I've had trouble reconciling in regard to Bitshares and other decentralized tech is the lack of real Customer Support for the everyday user.  It might seem trivial but if you tell potential users that there is no single entity to call or email if they have issues; that's a major turn off.

Customer support will need to be provided by the services utilizing Bitshares and until they are up and running (online wallet providers, gateways, etc.) I think it's very dangerous to market Bitshares to anyone with a limited understanding of decentralized tech.

Yeah the user experience with bitshares is a major issue imo. The majority of users do not want to have to learn anything new. It really has to be made simple and beautiful and idiot proof.

I totally agree with this - idiot proof, user friendly, thought out, 1 click, instead 5 clicks.

General Discussion / Re: [FYI] Microsoft now accepts Bitcoin through BitPay

Strange how BTC demand seems dismal on the open market but there are buyers to move 50,000 BTC via auction.

I've said this before and still believe it to be true - bigger fish are becoming whales and are keeping the spot price down.

If you've done any research on commodities market manipulation (gold, silver etc.) you will know that manipulating the spot price of something as small as BTC is trivial.

I fully expect an all-exchange pump to coincide with ETF release.

Thereafter the whales will probably take serious profits and move into 2.0 tech. Repeat.

How are they keeping the spot price down?

With this news Bitcoin barely jumped in price. When will people jump/convert into Bitshares? Now that is the real question.

why would msft accepting bitcoin provide a catalyst for an increase in price?? It's more corporate bullshit of converting btc immediately to fiat.  They could care less if bitcoin lives or dies.  It's just another revenue stream for them and in all honestly more of a PR move.  Get excited when they actually hold and pay in bitcoin or any crypto.

I've been in Bitcoin for a long time, so when news first broke out that a company accepted it, the price skyrocketed like crazy, now it's just small bumps. And the bumps keep getting smaller, even though the companies that accept it are bigger. It's very interesting to watch this. Not sure if the price of Bitcoin will curve up or start to plateu and start curving downwards. Everything is indicating a downward pressure.

I'd be interested in promoting the remittance market down here in Colombia. Or set up an BitUSD Atm machine. How can I do this?

There needs to be a way for people to get paid to represent Bitshares. I'm down in Colombia and would love to know if it's possible for me to get paid to market Bitshares down here. It would be helpful if there was some kind of way for community to pay for signs or ads, car logos, etc and someway to measure marketing effectiveness with a referral link. And you get paid for each new registered user. A simple referral link or QR code that is linked to your Bitshares username or account, that pays you when someone registers.

I'm just wonder with .p2p would I be able to create website, upload the website files into the Bitshares program and view other .p2p sites from within Bitshares? So more or less, Bitshares would be a browser, and the server would be my laptop working with Bitshares.

also, the more Lamassu ATM's go online, the more this on-ramp for BitUSD grows, casino players can cash out in BitUSD to their phones without having to walk around with heavy suitcases

Looks like a great on-ramp to me, I will vote for any delegate that puts work into this.

General Discussion / Can someone create a video on how to vote
« on: December 05, 2014, 02:35:36 pm »
I voted for delegates and still it says my account isn't voting with all of it's stake. How do I verify that I'm voting with all my stake, can I divide my stake percentages for certain delegates, how does one vote properly, what happens if you don't vote, these questions need to be answered in a video.

Could i be possible for each account to have their own affiliate link. So, let's say you bring in a new user. You get paid by the system once that user registers. Could this work?
