I had this same issue - you need to:
1) Quit BTSX client;
2) remove all but wallets from "C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\BitShares X"
3) start BTSX client;

And it should (after a while, give it time) collect the whole db from scratch.

Yea no connections. Do I have to do points 1-3 or can I just wait for the next update?

I'd only make the bet if I knew that ByteMaster gave some hint that BTSX marketing would start before December, which would mean a stable BTSX wallet by the end of November, but I don't know what their goals are. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm not a programmer but I'm interested to know what are the main reasons making the software lag when I try to scroll up and down in the Market section or click around

If you look at the 30 day chart of BTSX starting on Sep 17th you can see the blue and orange lines separate, on Sep 17th the Bitcoin price was dropping and BTSX is stilling holding it's value
