General Discussion / Re: Lets get ebay not Open Bazaar...
« on: October 14, 2014, 01:44:54 pm »
Would it make sense for us (the community) to start a developer fund in order to attract more developers/freelancers to at least read into the code?

Taking a look at the github commits, most work is done by the core team .. I'd like to see this repo grow to Linux kernel repo loads ..

Would a community dev fund help? does it make sense? could we collect a reasonable amount of money?

I like the idea of a dev fund completing the core team.  Would you like to try it out?

I personally would not like anything like this in BTSX itself, not that I am against it but I think it may open up delegates to some type of government retribution. I know I personally would want to resign from being a delegate if we put it on the BTSX chain. That is why I prefer this being a completely separate entity a la Open Bazaar or a separate DAC.

A bitshare auction/market dac is nice.  But we do need to watch out for users who would like to turn it into a silk-road dac.  Let's keep a good distance away from the FBI and the like.

KeyID / Re: High-pay delegates for transparent faucets
« on: October 14, 2014, 12:39:41 pm »
The faucet has run out of fund faster than I thought.  I will send some fund in once the new 0.04 GUI wallet is available.

The new account registration fee has increased 5 times to 500DNS.   The Get Free KeyID faucet will need more support and fund.  Please kindly send your DNS to account ID bitcube to support this cause.  Thank you!   :)

Delegate bitcube updated to 0.04.   So far so good.   :)

Yes.  Only the block time matters.  Transaction sent at time x and is included in block at time y.  Time y is used as the time of donation.

One more question. When you say "block time", how many BTC confirmations do you mean?

What happens in the event of a "flash crash" was well discussed in the "black swan" thread and I think the solution for this is pretty easy: no yield will be paid for some months ..
..

I am interested to know more about the 'black swan' thread.  Could you please point me to the link?

Uhhmm.. thanks for all the nice ideas here.  But really, are there designers, beside cass who can put up cool logo design?

Ah, clearly you did not see my masterpiece! It's a just few posts above yours.

lol.. yeah..  I like the fun atmosphere here. This thread made my day.   :)

Ahh.. then I have missed the inclusion for that good day.   :(

The answer is that it would take a hard fork to touch it.  All delegates and users would have to update

So if somebody wanted to make a malicious change to the smart contract, and the delegates, as elected by the user community, identify it, they could choose to not go along with it. Its still possible I suppose the impact is not identified unless such changes are reviewed before required updates, but its good to know that the community has a potential path to protect itself here. The more I learn about BitAssets the more I like.

BM and toast have answered you. I will elaborate abit more for the layman out there.  It would be near impossible to do so, especially when the user base grows and becomes very large in the future.  To change this means all the users (including the inactive users) and the 101 top delegates must agree to download and run the new codes (eg wallet).  And the majority of votes must go to those 101 delegates who supported/wanted the change.  Near impossible, right?  This is the power of decentralisation where nobody can single-handedly control it.

Cheers!   :)

KeyID / Re: Proposal to enhance delegate pay/subsidy mechanic
« on: October 13, 2014, 01:42:07 am »
Thoughts? The idea is to allow us to "save up" the delegate subsidy while still giving the stakeholders the option to burn through the subsidy if they want to.
+5% ... makes sense to me

Yes, I agree to "saving up" the delegate subsidy too.  But I wonder how would a stakeholder decide if and what level of subsidy burn rate.  Would it be something easy for them?

KeyID / Re: Transfer from Bter to wallet fails
« on: October 13, 2014, 01:20:49 am »
I am not sure if you can send money from bter to a DNS public address.  If it is not possible, you may need to send to a _registered_ user account name.  To do that, you need to create a user account name in your DNS wallet.  After you created that account, you can register this account for free at http://bit.cubeconnex.com:5555 or ask someone to send you 100.5DNS to register the account.

I like what the presenter has highlighted.  The legacy players would attempt to choke off innovative tech like bitcoin.  Already we have lost our privacy rights when buying bitcoin from the exchange because of the Know-Your-Customer rule under the pretext of anti money-laundering.  We do not have KYC with dollar notes. There may be more rules that are coming out.. eg the current talk of FinCen investigating companies that carried out fund raising via bitcoin.  The music industry players may lobby for rules against bitshare music dac and peertracks. Should we resist or is resistance futile?

Document certification??

Kind of low key to a reader.  I thought it would be more appropriate to consider bitshare as a stable-digital-currency/dollar-alternative? or super fast digital currency?
