The BitShares blockchain is a Financial Services platform for SmartCoins coupled with a decentralized asset exchange. SmartCoins are price-stable digital assets pegged to the current value of various currencies, commodities, stocks and other financial instruments.  The BitShares blockchain “witnesses” public data from world financial markets to “publish” pricing information to the decentralized asset exchange.  Markets are made and the blockchain enforces all SmartCoin parameters and transactions.  The industrial-grade blockchain is currently operating at a 3-second block interval with peaks to thousands of transaction per second. BitShares is delivering today on the promises of blockchain functionality, scalability and speed.  Spin up an Ubuntu VM with the software to get connected in about 15 minutes.

Sounds good.  +5%

Meh, BTS back down again when other stuff like FCT going way up.  I guess you were right and its dog shit. :P

Like they say, "Every dog has its day".  If we focus on actions that bring true value to bts, that day will come sooner.

Boy does ETH ever feel like a bubble now, but like all good bubbles it just keeps going up.

It has risen to close to 1/6th of Bitcoin market cap.  The bubble is becoming a giant over a span of a few days.

Just saw a post in the Technical Support board. https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,21771.new.html#new

https://os.merkabahnk.io/ looks like a hosted BitShares web wallet. I haven't seen anything about it in this forum before.

Anyone know who is behind it? Thanks.

Looks like the maker/dai team. @Rune may like to comment on it.

Bitshares needs to attract 2 types of people. Investors and Users

Investors
We need to attract people who like me saw BTS as a good investment. Not day traders trying to make a quick buck.
We need them to increase the price of BTS market cap which benefits all aspects of the bitshares system.

Users
These are people who want to use the exchange but not necessarily buy BTS. This will grow our network effect and therefore our marketcap.
I would say there are 2 types of users.
1. Asset creators like Maker or BANX who want their asset as a native BTS token. (the most important and hugely positive for network effect)
2. Traders

Well said.  In addition to the two types of people above, I think bts needs one more :-

Investors in CNX
1)  bts needs to be maintained - bugs to be fixed, features to be implemented eg sidechains, magin trading.  An external source of funding is much needed.

One other possible way:
D) Your website create a customer code for each customer and register their customer code in the blockchain.

That's very interesting and a distinct possibility. Do you have any documentation/api method pages you could point me to?

Your website maintains a database mapping of your customers' name and their customer code.  Either manually or automate the registration of the customer code as a bts  account in the blockchain.  You can prefix it like abcCustomerCode assuming abc is the abbrievated form of your company name.  You own all the accounts' private keys.  The maintenance and conttrol of your customer information is on your website.  This is a simple solution that may achieve what you need.

2) Create a unique account on the Bitshares blockchain for each user registering on the website and issue the customer with the name of the account. The account's private keys are held locally by the website and the user uses the name as a unique identifier to route their funds. This seems like an approach that is more user friendly, but raises the possibility of
  • A) cluttering the bitshares blockchain
  • B) users attempting to register the same account name outside of the website (E.g. through the bitshares client) and being denied because the name is taken by the website
  • C) identification of accounts tied to the website by third parties; for example - if new accounts were prefixed 'MYWEBSITE-' (nasty privacy violation)

One other possible way:
D) Your website create a customer code for each customer and register their customer code in the blockchain.

Very very nice work.  What is the timetable for this?  I would expect this announcement to provide a nice bump in market cap.

My understanding is the next blog post is to be posted next week. Please continue adding to this thread your ideas thru week's end.

Great work, Fox!  @Stan 's skill in announcement is much needed here.  Please do include it in our coming Newsletter.

@xeroc, have you even heard form Ronny lately?
Not sure .. he may simple be on a one-week vacation ..

Perhaps.  But I brought this up starting with Decred 4 weeks ago.  Ronny responded once 2 weeks ago with an answer that didn't inspire much confidence that he sees the importance of this or that he is willing or capable of making it happen.  If we want to jumpstart the DEX, we better get with the program.  A good start would be to immediately make it clear that Lisk will trade here from day 1.  What are we waiting for??

Akado did an excellent follow-up with c-cex.  Perhaps he can help us with his biz dev skill by attracting Lisk and developing it into a First Lisk's exchange. Paging @Akado.

Are we too late to buy? Is 0.02 the top? Any technical traders have advice?

lol I've put off buying eth on every rise, assuming "there's no way this is sustainable"...but it just keeps going up anyway. And I know full well that as soon as I pull the trigger and buy it'll come crashing down on me.

Pretty sure I'm the worst trader alive.    :(

Well, it is retreating just after you wrote.  You do have some magical power to tame it down even without buying it.  ;)
