Could you please include 'documentation for developer' into your proposal?  This is much needed if we need another developer to take over and maintain or expand the developed codes.

Actually, from the very beginning, when abit offered to implement this BSIP,  it was my intention (and part of the "deal" with abit) to make documentation an important part of the worker proposal.
As abit has already declared, he is not very keen on writing detailed descriptions so I offered to team up with him and take on this task.
My offer is based on the assumption that abit will be willing to share with me his know-how and help me with understanding all the nuances and decisions he's made when doing the coding.

So there are going to be two tiers of documentation:
(1) in-code comments by abit
(2) a detailed documentation/tutorial, written by me, explaining the whole context, i.e. some kind of guide for developers willing to follow in abit's footsteps

I am really glad we are moving towards better and richer set of documentation.  I appreciate your effort and drive towards this goal.

The 3M BTS I proposed is for "my work", which includes coding of "witness_node" and "cli_wallet", as well as "my" testing in one or more private networks and/or public networks.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Committee: bitcube
« on: January 21, 2016, 08:55:44 am »
First the committee collects the fees and only then they start figuring out what to do with them? That doesn't make sense and isn't a good practice, even if the funds are safe.

The committee members had talked about and agreed to collecting the earned fee and using it to improve market liquidity, before voting the proposal.  The implementation details and options of how to achieve this objective were discussed then but they were not finalised.  While we could have discussed and agreed on a single set of implementation details before collecting the fees, the difference in opinions could distract the members from the objective and prolong the phase.  Taking it step by step may help in reaching consensus easier.

An Update

The committee members voted in http://cryptofresh.com/p/1.10.49 and collect the fund gained from bitassets tx.  We are in discussion how best to use the fund - mainly to improve bitasset market liquidity.  I support the idea of selling bitassets with some buzz to attract new shorters and even longers.  Some members are looking into automating the selling of the collected bitassets eg using a bot.  The bot will have to be well tested or we may lose fund from a bot exploit. Let's get some volunteers and script gurus.

With the recent metaexchange's post, a few committee members brought up the possibility of lowering order creation fees.  As the discussion progresses, some members and I recognise just lowering the order creation fee may not be sustainable because we do need to cover cost and find a way to make up for a lost of revenue.  In short, we need a viable business plan.  We are now exploring the possibility of increasing BTS market fee and having a kind of UIA trading fee.  Much to be brainstormed and discussed.

But he should really be compensated for the cost of running and maintaining it.  How about a worker proposal for it?
Thank you but the server is still useful to me for its intended purpose - perhaps even more useful now with a testnet running on it. Nevertheless I've been too busy with non-crypto life type stuff to really dig in and get involved with the various Bitshares efforts and projects. In lieu of time I can donate resources.

Thanks for your kind generousity. Appreciate it.  :)

Muse/SoundDAC / Re: All witnesses to upgrade to the new release of MUSE

bitcube done.

I think most witnesses, if not all, are updated.

Thank you. Witness node got stuck in a loop :/

I think this is a known problem.  Try restart with replay blockchain.

Well, they're incomplete atm. Or at least, not being used to their full potential. What good is any tech if it can't be used? We might use it, we might do that little effort but then again, outside users won't care.

But I believe we're really at the beginning. It's like BitShares got a reset. Difference is now it seems to have more potential. It's up to us to take that potential to the max.

Yes indeed. I see you are actively leading the 'business development' by getting the exchanges eg CCEX in.  We need more people like you.

Btw @cube related to on/off bridges CCEDK is working on doing that. You deposit fiat and you get credit open.eur, open.usd, etc on your bts wallet.

Transwiser CNY-on/off ramp and now CCEDK.  Bithshares is getting its infrastructure in place.

General Discussion / Re: BTC-EUR Market Based on Blockchain

1. Withdraw fee (deposit fees are both 0%)
- Kraken: 0.09 Euro
- OPEN.EUR: 3.0%

2. Trading fee
- Kraken: maker 0%~0.16% / taker 0.10~0.26% (Most of cases it maybe around 0.15% / 0.25%)
- OPEN.EUR: 0.3% / OPENBTC: 0.2%

In summary, openledger is not competitive versus Kraken.  Any chance to improve on it? @ccedk

It seems vaguely horrendous to have up to $exchangeNo SOMEEXCHANGE.CURRENCY "coins" which then must be sold back for the "real" BitCurrency.. correct me if I'm wrong, but there would be little incentive to ever use, say, BitEUR in this scenario ..

I think this is the '$$$$' question/puzzle that needs to be solved.  If we could not get BitXXX going yet, we could at least get SOMEEXCHANGE.YYYCURRENCY "coins" going.

Congraz Cass!  Looking forward to more beautiful work from you.

just you know .. this IMO a milestone as well .. maginfica and me are the first workers voted in without the help of CNX ... ;)

Yes indeed.  I think BM has decided to let the decentralisation of voting a chance to work and refrained from getting involved.   +5%

... What we're lacking atm is utility, something that feels a need. Until we have Bond Markets, Prediction Markets or companies using BitShares as a platform (ie exchanges), we won't see any price rise.

We do have utility-based products - price-stable bitUSD/bitCNY/bitEUR etc and a decentralised exchange.

We might have the best chain and technology but it's pretty much half baked. It's not accessible or user friendly so it just isn't used. It will require more time for that.

Our bitassets have little liquidities and not closely pegged.  Our DEX has no on/off ramps (btc<->fiat, bts<->fiat) and no counterparty-risk-free btc<->bts and altcoin<->bts exchanges.  Naturally, users are not going to use them.  'Half-baked' may be too harsh but we are certainly 'not done' yet.

I had similar problems too. But after I recompiled boost and the rest (ie clean recompiled everything and I did not use the pre-made binaries), the problem no longer there.

And did you manage to overcome those two issues?
(1) The _WEBSOCKETPP_NOEXCEPT_ variable is undefined
(2) std::max does not compile unless you add #include <algorithm> in fee_schedule.cpp.

Quote
(1) In the preprocessor settings for the fc project add a new definition for a variable called _WEBSOCKETPP_NOEXCEPT_.
To do that, right-click on the fc project, open the properties panel, navigate to Configuration Properties -> C/C++ -> Preprocessor -> Preprocessor Definitions and add _WEBSOCKETPP_NOEXCEPT_ to the list.

(2) In the graphene_chain project open a source file called fee_schedule.cpp and below line 22
#include <fc/smart_ref_impl.hpp>
add a new line with this content:
#include <algorithm>.

No. I did not make any changes to the source codes.

I have been compiling bitshares Windows cmd tools without any need to change the cmake configuration files.  I use Win7 64bit and VS2013.

For me it seem a bot is keeping BTS at the same dollar price .. for quite a while now ..

We have price-stable bitUSD.  Now we have price-stable BTS.
