General Discussion / Re: Max Keiser about BitShares
« on: January 08, 2015, 06:56:31 am »
I think we need a paid PR & media delegate that contacts their show in a professional manner.

IMO Max Wright is doing an absolutely stellar job with BitSharesTV!  If he continues what he's doing the publicity will be inevitable.  I think he said he's going to run for a delegate position soon too.

I will definitely vote for him! He's a fantastic communicator.

I personally think the 20-30 minute video's are too long for a lot of people, besides us to watch and I'd like to see him try some punchier 3-8 minute videos. People have short attention spans and I think these would get more views and interest.

I also wouldn't mind someone trying a 5 minute weekly BitShares News show. I think a lot of people would watch that. The interesting news and events of the last week packed into 5 minutes as well as referencing real world events that have an impact on BitShares (BitStamp, bail-in/inflation/negative interest rate news etc.)

General Discussion / Re: Referral Program Starting Today
« on: January 08, 2015, 03:10:59 am »
We have put in the basic tracking on various sites to gather the data necessary for our referral program.   We have not yet decided on what the rewards will be, so for now you will be participating on speculation that you may get something.  Of course, you may not get anything either.... it is still under development.

If you would like to get credit for signing up new users to the BitShares ecosystem then you can add "?r=bts_account_name" after every URL on my blog or bitshares.org.

If someone follows one of your links and ends up registering an account with BitShares via the faucet then "bts_account_name" will be given credit.

We are working out more advanced referral incentives, but this should be good enough to get you all started.    Now go and spread links and generate traffic!

+5% Sounds good

I was wondering what it would cost to bribe Max. If he's smart and he gets it, then maybe tips would be appreciated instead.

I think we need a paid PR & media delegate that contacts their show in a professional manner.

It's also likely that he knows exactly what BitShares is. His trading/financial background means he's probably the journalist that would be interested in and understand Market Pegged Assets the most.

If I was Max though, I would wait till 1.0 and BitAssets are easy to use with some utility before trying to explain them to a mainstream audience. I would love to have Max Wright on there with BM.

Having said that I think Max Wright's videos should be sub five minutes, faster paced and harder hitting, the 20 minute interviews have limited appeal imo. But he's a great communicator of difficult concepts and always comes across personable and friendly.

Edit: And I doubt he could be bribed, he's very wealthy but flattery gets you everywhere, someone starting a  'MaxKeiser' delegate probably wouldn't go amiss & might grab his attention.

Because our marketing was shit under brian. Why do people keep asking?

Next time email the author instead of posting here.

Brian is gone.

I would say the actual reason is more that we aren't paying anyone new to handle marketing & media.

I've commented on the article but I think it's relevant to question and highlight this issue here too so that it can start to be addressed.

We have Adam who is managing marketing and message and coordinated existing marketing efforts. This will take a few weeks to get up to speed.

We don't have a PR or press person, though. We should come up with some standard pitches for people to be able to reach out on their own.

I don't really see/notice Adam much yet.

Standard pitches are a good idea but I think we definitely need a professional, salaried PR/Media person who builds up & keeps good media relationships within & outside crypto.

Hpenvy was great at making contacts but he's been less inclined as he's not incentivised.
Method/Matt would be good too but as far as I know they're both working for practically free and their delegate income is almost exclusively a budget rather than a salary.

I've outlined who I'd personally vote for here, that kind of mix would make the marketing a lot better imo https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=12730.msg167586#msg167586

What do people think of Dwolla? https://www.dwolla.com/

That's an example I kind of like.

- Clear, succinct  pitch with a call to action and learn more option
- Then it funnels target markets.

Then you scroll down and see a few more key points.

(Edit: Nice that we're 25X cheaper than their main selling point :) )

I like pseudocops input of minimum info main page and call to action.

The rest of the input sounds good & well reasoned too. I don't know a lot about designing a good webpage myself.

I think we should focus more on being a decentralized exchange, rather than a decentralized bank. There's not really any (conscious) demand for a decentralized bank, but there's plenty of demand for a decentralized exchange. I much prefer pitching bitshares as a decentralized exchange first and foremost, that also happens to work as a decentralized bank.

I disagree. There's a huge demand, there just isn't a mainstream option yet. A lot of potential catalysts in place - negative interest rates, highly inflationary currencies, bail-ins & government over-reach. It will take a while to position ourselves as a viable mainstream option but Bank & Exchange for sure imo.

The option they're looking at on NullStreet I think is to funnel people to three sections from the main page - individuals, merchants and traders. That could be a good idea and let us market to three specific groups. Each one potentially huge in it's right. No reason to miss out two of them imo and bank doesn't detract too much from exchange offering. Personally I think it's nice to have both.

I see that BitGOLD is now 30th on asset list of CMC with a cap of $11.5k. Once this BitGOLD gains traction and becomes known we don't have to worry, I think they can't then trademark it either.

Yes I've been advocating improving this. I think we need a pool of funds anyway so I suggested we could have 100% delegates who build up balances of BitGold and so increase the cap in the process.

It would also add daily liquidity at a small loss to kickstart their use which is needed as well.

Better use BROAD instead of HUGE.

 +5% I changed it.

Was just some thoughts. BM's original stuff is fine too. NullStreet are working on content as well.

upvote on reddit too !!!

I'm going to delete those videos soon, I'll put up ones that end on a credit for the blockchain song.

If it simplifies anything I think you can do it without having to upload any new video....I think you can just add links to the video on youtube no?

Ok cool, I haven't added links before, but I'm sure it can't be too hard

Edit: Added some links to the song at the end.
