He added a link giving credit...all is well..thank you to Empirical for being considerate...peace to you..and good luck with the video!

Yeah just added that now, also just sent 2000 BTS tip. I really should have consulted you in hindsight, apologies & thanks for being cool about it. (Just did it my spare time, wasn't paid and yeah I've asked that any tips go to you.)

Edit: I'll add a credit in the video at the end this week as well and take the other two down.

General Discussion / Re: How to vote for delegates?
« on: January 05, 2015, 11:33:42 am »
There is a section with proposals here...

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?board=61.0

I agree BitSharesblocks is awesome. Maybe in future it would be nice if each delegate had a short description or link when you clicked on them as well as perhaps the next 100 in line on that site.

Regards voting, someone else can explain it better. I tend to go to delegate page and push 'clear selection' or something to that effect. Then I select the delegates I like. Then I choose Vote option in my account, then I select Update Vote, with the selection being set to 'Vote All' I think that does the trick.

I think we should really push this theme in 2015
Especially with this same shit happening again and again:

Bitstamp Service Temporarily Suspended

We have reason to believe that one of Bitstamp’s operational wallets was compromised on January 4th, 2015.

As a security precaution against compromises Bitstamp only maintains a small fraction of customer bitcoins in online systems. Bitstamp maintains more than enough offline reserves to cover the compromised bitcoins.

IN THE MEANTIME, PLEASE DO NOT MAKE DEPOSITS TO PREVIOUSLY ISSUED BITCOIN DEPOSIT ADDRESSES. THEY CANNOT BE HONORED!

Customer deposits made prior to January 5th, 2015 9:00 UTC are fully covered by Bitstamp’s reserves. Deposits made to newly issued addresses provided after January 5th, 2015 9:00 UTC can be honored.

Bitstamp takes our security and soundness very seriously. In an excess of caution, we are suspending service as we continue to investigate. We will return to service and amend our security measures as appropriate.

I would look to incentivise hpenvy a bit and MethodX.
hpenvy was pretty relentless, made lots of contacts, I think he can start to build relationships too and with Method, that should be a good team in terms of contacting & getting some decent press coverage.

Yeah sorry I posted my reply and then went to find the video, it's added now.

Depending how you value them, we weren't too far apart from the market valuation of Ripple a few months ago.

They've made better value adding decisions and partnerships for their model during that period. Congrats to them. We could have been in a similar place with no dilution & $1 million thrown at BitAsset integration, lightweight clients, partnerships & offramps instead of Vote too.

It's happening now though, regained focus, building up again post merger, we're just a few months behind, but things can move quickly once we regain momentum. They may be in our rear view mirror soon enough.

At this point isn't BTC mining sufficiently centralized to avoid this?  If viewed as a single rational actor, the mining industry would have to be quite short sighted to allow this to happen.

It is centralized at the pool level but not under that.  Miners and pools are typically 2 separate entities unless "cloud mining".

I agree it is a bit irrational to cut off miners to the point of hurting the network, but when you are operating at a loss with no real guarantee it will go back up anytime soon - would you just start burning capital to help BTC?  Doubtful I would.

It's an interesting idea. Considering the hashers gave little thought to getting Ghash.io to 45% or whatever it was a while ago, many will probably be inclined to shut down if it's not profitable to mine, even if it damages Bitcoin for sure.

I have extracted the main BitAsset advert part, could be useful on it's own.

Two 60 second-ish versions with slightly different intros wasn't sure which was better...

One more thing I wanted to mention.
Max Keiser talking on RT about Deutsche and BNP being insolvent sounds somewhat out of (time?) context, FUD-like... ?

Perhaps, I don't think they've ever been technically insolvent just under-capitalised and Deutsche has over $50 trillion in derivatives exposure. I think that clip is probably from mid 2013 but so is the Cyprus thing in the video etc. I think all those risks are still present.  I'm probably not going to update the updated version above for the time being though. I might try start on something new when I have time.

Thanks & thanks for the feedback. I have altered the video to reflect some of it.

- The Girl has been removed from the middle section.
- The last 10 second montage at the end of the video has been removed.
- The BitUSD section at 1:45 still looks power-pointy, but it has a more animated intro and exit transition & floating dollar signs have been added to the background

I have used the song ‘Welcome to the blockchain’ by Toby Ganger https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbzNJr26H-4

http://www.coindesk.com/missing-mt-gox-bitcoins-inside-job-japanese-police/

Are you saying the guys who stole the coins originally are dumping them? I would have thought they'd have dumped them already.

165
It's the gox loot guys. The police are getting closer to the fraud and the backers are dumping the stolen coins. Over 600k of them.

Is that true?

The sudden fall is just as likely the result of passing through a key psychological & trading support level of $300 at the start of a New Year when people are re-evaluating their positions and seeing Bitcoin's poor 2014 performance.

A similar thing happened with LiteCoin passing $100 million last week, a slow descent turns into a rapid one.
