Random Discussion / Re: DAO - Delegated Autonomous Oracle

Those who attain the Way are weak in ambition but strong at work; their minds are open and their responses are fitting. Those weak in ambition are flexible and yielding, peaceful and quiet; they hide in nonacquisitiveness and pretend to be inexpert. Tranquil and uncontrived, when they act they do not miss the timing.  -Wen-tzu

I appreciate your reply, thank you! Do you think it could possibly be released after 2.0?

Akado, are you asking for us to release it afterwards?  Or just asking when it could possibly be released?
There will be many short segments as opposed to one large documentary.  Later on we'll see about a feature length doc.

Greetings.

We’re glad to hear there is still anticipation in the collective consciousness… you are not the first to reach out to us for a hint as to what is on the way.

The first reason that our videos haven’t yet reached the light of day has ultimately been the age old combination of time and money, in short supply.  Second It’s been a crazy editing process with limited tools.  Third, we both have busy lives endeavoring to make a living.

We would like nothing more than to be dedicated full time to the production of killer content for this community, but it’s been an ad hoc operation from the beginning, and even with two delegates we’re still hustling.  Mind you no one wants to sell at this price, and although we’ve had to sell a few shares along the way, we’re not happy about it.

As to how much we are getting paid to release the footage.. nothing!  And it will be licensed under a Creative Commons license BY-SA, meaning anyone can reuse/remix our released footage in any video project.

We don’t expect payment, but we still need our videos to have maximum impact. So the lead-up & launch of 2.0 seems like best timing for several reasons: (i) we can recuperate more of our production costs by using the referral system, (ii) to help build excitement for 2.0, and (iii) delegate votes are going to be reset, so instead of wasting time re-campaigning for votes we’ll let our work speak for us.

We are media delegates, not marketing delegates, so we plan to maintain our delegate position as long as it remains relevant. If Cryptonomex or one of its partners was to hire us directly, that would be a different story. But delegate pay continues to be a valuable resource for helping bootstrap this ecosystem. We will market where there is an easy opening for us, but that is not our specialty.

As to where production is currently at, we are on the third iteration of our material, and will be releasing one or more teasers closer to launch.  At this point, we are full-on 2.0 or bust!

So, thanks for the opportunity to respond and give everyone an update.  We’re blocking out major time on our calendars for the final push.  And when we succeed in releasing the first round of videos, it’s back to Blacksburg.

You've put a lot of time and thought into understanding the contours of these ideas, thanks for laying it all out in an easy to grok format!

I feel like I've seen people on and off the forums discussing various faucet / referral arrangements, but how is it going to work, really?

It would be great to hear other people's thoughts on the matter!

Marketers and content creators will need dead simple ways to funnel and sign up new users... it would be good to get some clarity on this before it's go time!

Very good thinking!!

Let me drop in this project:
https://www.moneypacket.org/

It basically allows to send bitcoin per mail .. kind of ..
and with the bitshares wallet being written in JS you can basically send a whole wallet in a mail :)
Totally unexplored way of thinking and marketing!

This is amazing Xeroc!  I'd never considered this possibility!

One word on 'unbiased' or 'objective' documentary film making.  I prefer a known bias that I can account for to someone pretending they don't have one.  Everything about film making is about bias, all art is bias and not objective.  Now that i've said that, I can appreciate the desire for objectivity, for presenting multiple viewpoints.  It's a balancing act to be sure.

i'm certainly all for promotional media. do we have a marketing budget? there was talk in another thread about a 400 BTC marketing budget for China. anything like that for U.S. or EU?

Under 2.0 our 'Marketing' budget is soon to be the referral system.  'Media creation' could still fall under the 'worker' role, if the delegates approve and the shareholders agree.  So far, marketing has been the domain of a few delegates and a small team of inspired shareholder volunteers.  The referral system is going to change everything.

I'm currently in the process of editing the footage we collected from interviews conducted with community members and core developers during our P2P tour this past Spring, to be released as 2-3 minute clips and eventually sewn up into a more comprehensive mini-doc.

Beyond this, Bitscape Media is looking to continue video work in the crypto-space, including a more full featured BitShares documentary when our resources are equal to our ambitions. We've been bootstrapping our operation with blood sweat and... inspiration, during this bear market.

I totally support additional film crews willing to get out there and tell the story of what is happening right now in crypto, however they can, as well as collaboration between crews.  It’s a historic moment in time and we need make sure there are many voices in the telling of it.

I think you're all missing a really critical question here.

Will The Narwhals be receiving some compensation from @NameNarwhal's name horde?

@NameNarwhal is usurping the noble name of the Narwahl for their own profit seeking, internet based enterprise, while the Narwhals very existence is being threatened through poaching, arctic oil exploration, and climate change.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpSn6wicIck

Narwahls, to my knowledge, have not adopted the arcane human-built 'internet' protocol.  Preferring instead the original open source frequencies used by their species for the last ten million yearshttp://narwhalnewsnetwork.com/what-does-a-narwhal-sound-like/

So what will it be @NameNarwhal, what portion of your proceeds will you earmark for for the Narwhal Advocacy Coalition which you are about to found?

Not to mention if the Narwhal goes extinct, your brand name is going to be really sad... at that point you may as well just go with @DodoDomains.

Sorry pal, your name is now inexorably tied to the Narwhal.
Thanks in advance for saving the Narwhal, all the best!

General Discussion / Re: The Matrix Trilogy Decoded - Mindblow

If you're into the Matrix, you'll love The Invisibles by Grant Morrison.

Yes!  The Invisibles, essential.

I would also HIGHLY recommend "Memetic Magick: Manipulation of The Root Social Matrix And The Fabric of Reality" by Kirk Packwood. The latter requires at least a basic understanding of memetic theory.

Intriguing!  I will check this out for sure. :)

I figure I should also bring up the obvious element missing from this conversation... In the second movie, Neo was given the option to go through a back door and reset the matrix mainframe (reboot the matrix) or go back into the matrix and rescue Trinity (feminine spirit). It seems pretty obvious to me this whole cryptocurrency movement is an attempt to reboot the matrix and place ourselves on top as its "benevolent" overlords.

The only way to establish true change is to heal our sick consciousness. People must begin to care about each other again. This isn't an easy process and can be achieved slowly with a free and censorship resistant Internet. It can also be sped up with the use of entheogens like ayahuasca.

media.bitscape   -   Mainly spending BTS delegate pay on traveling for fun! [added]

provisional.bitscape   -   Keeping company of media.bitscape on his vacations! [added]

The interview they did on Bitcoins and Gravy was pretty good though.
If I weren't already into BitShares, I'd have looked into it after listening to that LTB podcast...

Every time I look at a post of yours I am reminded that you changed you profile pic for me {heart}. What I mean is I know I owe you big time!

So how this sounds:

media.bitscape   -   Had a great interview with "bitcoins and gravy"... once. Great achievement keeping in mind he spends 99% of his time traveling on BTS buck! [added/edited]

Good?

Tonyk2 I'm not going to waste too much of my time expressing all the ways which I have contributed to this project since your blissfully ignorant and baseless slander is like a fountain of horseshit.

But for the benefit of those who read your drivel I will just add that since I started working on this project I have spent thousands of dollars of my own money while receiving a sum of equity not nearly adequate to pay for my time and efforts and expenditures at the current value.

Nevertheless I continue my efforts as I am able despite the armchair yodeling of folks like you who have all the time in the world to slander others while contributing only capital (i presume) and your lordly opinions from the safety of your armchair.

Thankfully there are 10 contributing members of this community for every festering boil such as yourself.

Sincerely,
Bitscape

In the event that Invictus is fined it will not impact the future of BitShares, it will only impact my own personal financial situation.   I suspect that this community would have my back and we will all move past it.

There is nothing to fear except fear itself.
