One scenario need to be taken into consideration:
Since CERs of smart coins change frequently, there may be race conditions when a transfer operation and a price feed operation appear at a same block.
Usually a user need some seconds to confirm her transaction, or say, after the "Please confirm the transaction" page is shown, before the user clicks 'OK', if CER changed, the transaction would probably fail due to insufficient fee provided. It will cause negative user experience.

Imo this should be included in BSIP.

I have an idea to solve this issue (sure it will make the whole thing more complicated):
* For smart coins, show a message "you need to confirm in 60 seconds" on the "please confirm" page, if the user failed to confirm in 60 seconds, disable the "OK" button.
* Maintain the "worst" CERs of every smart coins in last 3 minutes somewhere in witness_node. The fee is only required to be not lower than the lowest one.

Thoughts?
@jakub @svk

I think the simplest solution may be to overpay fees by 1% or so. This would give a buffer for CER movement.

The scenario you describe is a potential problem even without percentage-based fees, correct?

General Discussion / Re: Crowd Donations for Mike Hearn Hangout
« on: January 26, 2016, 02:57:14 am »
*Update*
Mike Hearn has responded to my email.  Thanks, btw, @CLains for sending a second one--it really cannot be understated just how important it is that even one other person supported this--it very well might have made us stick out from the crowd and I applaud CLains for being the only one to have the inner drive to send such a supportive message.

With that said, though Mike declined at this time for the seeming reason that he didn't want to cause more waves than he already had.  However, we now have a direct link to contact him that we know works.  Also, we have him remembering the concept of "beyond bitcoin" just from seeing the email that he responded to.  In the future, these things give us a higher chance of bringing him onboard.  I responded to him telling him we greatly appreciate his bravery in bringing up topics we have largely felt outcasted for bringing up in the past and told him we understand how it feels to try to tell the truth to the community...not to hurt, but to help.

With this said, however, if you donated to this and would like to sell back your COPPERTICKET and SILVERTICKET please feel free to send them back for a full redemption of BTS.  If you do not redeem them, I will likely use them as a growing pool of carrots with which to bring other High Profile individuals on to speak with us.

As always, thanks for trusting me and thank you for the privilege of serving a community of core individuals who really do care about liberating tech.
If this can be done via this thread to help provide easy transparency, please do so.  If not, please post the link along with the amount you are sending back.

I like the carrot pool idea.. also, I sent some BTS but don't think I got a ticket :)

General Discussion / Re: Exploiting fee pool of prediction market
« on: January 26, 2016, 02:44:42 am »
By 'exploiting' you just mean draining, right?

Fee pools are a convenience service.. so it makes sense to charge a premium for their use by decreasing the CER. That's the right way to do it, imo.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: [NOTICE] BTS-RFC 1.10.66 - Approved

Thank you everyone who detected and helped resolve this potential attack vector.   It makes me very happy that the community is able to act and respond without my involvement.

The governance structure of BitShares enables rapid responses and efficient coordination that would be very difficult to achieve with any other technology.

good job! this is newsworthy

I saw the earlier 'draft' proposals changed a lot of parameters.. was glad to see that the final one was clean/minimal and affected only fee_per_kb values. Great job and relatively fast response!

:)

Slightly related: can't seem to build the latest muse master.
Have you tried updating recently? Here's what I get, even on a fresh clone:

Code: [Select]
CMake Error at libraries/chain/CMakeLists.txt:30 (add_library):
  Cannot find source file:

    include/graphene/chain/hardfork.hpp

  Tried extensions .c .C .c++ .cc .cpp .cxx .m .M .mm .h .hh .h++ .hm .hpp
  .hxx .in .txx

Where to report this..I suppose the graphene repo, since the muse fork doesn't appear to have 'Issues' enabled?

I have gotten my seed node up and running on 45.55.13.98:1776

Took me awhile to get it working with my script that restarts it in case of low witness participation or a crash.  Was totally a stupid error on my part.  It is now up and running.

I think there might be an issue with the main seed node (54.165.143.33:5197), I couldn't get the witness_node to resync.. yours did the trick.. thanks!

I noticed the site was a bit sluggish so I'm restarting the witness node and a few other services. It will be back up soon!

Could you fetch the volume of BitShares Asset Exchange from coinmarketcap? It would be really nice to see how volume evolves on the DAC! http://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/bitshares-asset-exchange/

@roadscape

CMC actually gets the data from cryptofresh :) but it's pretty hacky. When the new market api is out I'll dig into it.. definitely want to see this data..

@roadscape Is it ok to make a remark on the fee schedule page, so that people will know that canceling an order will get fully refund of fees for created the order?

Yeah, no problem! What are the official rules for this? Isn't it like a 99.9% refund, as long as it's completely unfilled?

It would be really useful to know if our volume is growing or not!

Btw, coinmarketcap reports $0 volume in the last 24 hours, is this true or are there any problems with them getting info from cryptofresh?

Hmm.. for which pair is it showing 0 volume?

This is a historical moment - it's a first attempt to implement a new feature in the Graphene code-base without CNX being directly involved.
Well done @abit

Let's hope CNX will be supportive and offer some feedback regarding the quality of abit's code.
Even if they don't find BSIP10 especially useful.

The baby is learning to walk :)

Yes... This is excellent @abit... well done!

Good questions & good answers in this thread.

If someone is working on an exciting project, what is the incentive to share their plans publicly & early?

Technical Support / Re: Does cryptofresh.com has any API?
« on: January 19, 2016, 03:41:04 pm »
There's one other endpoint on cryptofresh that might help: http://cryptofresh.com/api/holders?asset=OPENMUSE (it shows only balance, not orders/collateral)

When it comes to active/inactive.. I split the assets based on their 'current_supply': 0 means inactive, greater than 0 means active.
