I was hoping to break into the new market API's but they aren't available from my existing RPC connection, so instead I focused on mapping out all the active markets and extracting/indexing the interesting bits. It's something that was preventing me from moving forward on several fronts.

Here's the first page redesign utilizing the new data: https://cryptofresh.com/assets

Next week I'll work on asset detail page improvements (view and select different markets, and minor UI enhance), as well as on connecting to the new APIs that allow me to pull the % change, top bid/ask, etc for markets (or upgrading the platform/schema to accomplish the same thing).

Update:
This week I've focused on polling and aggregating market pair data. This is quite useful and makes it possible to move forward with many of the requested views and APIs. I plan to push the initial changes to production today, along with one redesigned view (asset list). Next week will have more UI updates that take advantage of this new data source!

Community Action Request: Content for Azure BaaS blog post.

Background:
I've been in contact with Marley Gray, Director, BizDev & Strategy - Cloud and Enterprise, Microsoft on the on-boarding process for BitShares to Azure BaaS.  We are a pull request approval from being live.

Request:
First, please review Mr. Marley's previous blog posts to see how other blockchain offerings are being positioned [1].  Then, please provide ideas on what you feel should be included in his upcoming blog post highlighting BitShares.  I have a skeleton contained within the metadata.json and README.md files within the GitHub repository [2].  If you choose to tweet this information, please mention @ryanRfox

Gratitude:
Thanks to all those that have tested the scripts and provided feedback thus far; please offer more.

[1] https://azure.microsoft.com/en-gb/blog/author/marleyg/
[2] https://github.com/ryanRfox/azure-quickstart-templates/tree/review/bitshares-ubuntu-vm

Will you be sending him bullet points or a full article?

If BitShares gets it's own post, this is a good layout/format to start with:
https://azure.microsoft.com/en-gb/blog/ethereum-blockchain-as-a-service-now-on-azure/

Things to focus on:
 - why do people want it on Azure and what will this help them accomplish/build?
 - brief history of accomplishments, general goals, future outlook
 - what makes Graphene unique; what does it offer that others don't?

We should reuse the nice write-ups here: https://bitshares.org/technology/

IMO for the microsoft audience, these are the best pages to pull from:
https://bitshares.org/technology/delegated-proof-of-stake-consensus/
https://bitshares.org/technology/dynamic-account-permissions/
https://bitshares.org/technology/industrial-performance-and-scalability/

If I'm understanding you correctly, option (1) is the way to go.

I think most gateways/exchanges using BitShares use the memo field and a uniquely-generated deposit id to route funds to the right place. It's possible to mistype the memo, but don't most people copy-paste?

Also, it's possible to provide a convenience link that automatically takes the user to the web wallet with the account name and memo pre-filled.

....
Last time i got info on that, they cot data from cryptofresh.
....

@roadscape: Did you were aware of that fact? If yes, could you double check that right now your API(?) provides proper information?

Yes, I emailed CMC the other day to ask Gliss to add USD:BTC. (Please don't spam him with requests!) He sent back a question asking if USD = BitUSD and asked for more information on the internal exchange. As far as I know, the API is working properly, but doesn't account for all trading pairs (because there is no way to query for all active market pairs.. something I'm currently working on solving). Is there any specific number that appears off?

According to the motto... What I don't know won't hurt me.

If you don`t care what businesses use BitShares ok. But maybe other stakeholders do care because it can have an effect on their investment.
And as long as there is no witch there will be no witch-hunt, so calm down.

@roadscape Do you know more about this project?

I don't know anything about this project.. But I was inspecting market stats yesterday and found some strangeness with https://cryptofresh.com/a/BTCPLUS -- it claims to be a "better BTC", and given its supply, it would have a market cap of around $10M. Maybe it's just an experiment but its holders are selling BTCPLUS for BTS, and this could confuse new users. Perhaps we need some way of marking trusted/untrusted assets?

General Discussion / Re: Cryptofresh Block Explorer + MUSE now available
« on: February 29, 2016, 09:20:54 pm »
OpenLedger's referrals have continued the same 511 for a few days now when it has several registrations in the last hours. Is it not being updated? Or does it only count if the registered account has an amount superior to X worth of BTS / has made any transactionsm etc, as a way to filter spam accounts?

It shows and ranks by num_referred - num_registered, because sorting by num_registered showed more spam than marketing efforts. And I see that they stopped using https://cryptofresh.com/u/openledger-reg, so now that 'openledger' is *both* the registrar and referrer, the numbers cancel out.

You can see the 'Most accounts registered' chart here:
https://cryptofresh.com/charts

Combining the 2 charts crowds out the useful data, so it rules out the simple fix. I'm open to ideas.. maybe they could switch back to using openledger-reg? :)

General Discussion / Re: Light Weight Market Status Page
« on: February 29, 2016, 06:59:28 pm »
I am looking for someone to put together a nice "market status" that loads "instantly" rather than with a delay.

It should be able to display any market pair on BTS and show the price history, order book, and market depth chart.

Ideally it would be on something like cryptofresh.com.

It should work with server-side rendering and not require downloading 2MB of JS.

The assets pages have a basic market status section: https://cryptofresh.com/a/BTC -- does it load fast enough?

As far as I can tell, it's mostly just missing the depth chart and the ability to look at different pairs.. these market views will get dedicated URLs, something I plan to tackle early March if my worker gets voted in.. and it does look like it's on track :)

Happy to hear you've found an income stream, but I really hope your workers get voted in and I hope this experience doesn't dissuade you from doing more public work going forward.. we need your help!

The work you've done is invaluable, and it's sad that some fail to see beyond this partisan issue. The worker model is not perfect but it's the best we have, and @xeroc has already made compromises in regards to pay & terms, in addition to going well beyond his obligations.

Thanks for testing guys, glad to see it's working smoothly!

An early demo of the cryptofresh Post feature, and a call for testers:

https://cryptofresh.com/posts

After logging in with your BitShares account, and can write posts directly on the blockchain.
New posts will appear on the page as they come in, creating a realtime chat experience.

Each account starts out with 100 test credits. Posts consume 5 credits (or more, depending on post length). Tips consume 5 test credits. This is to prevent spam and also a fun experiment. I am working towards a more convenient model but this allows us to start testing right away.

There are 3 main features in play:
1) Logging in
2) Posting
3) Tipping

Replying is not yet functional (but mostly implemented in the backend). Feedback welcome & let me know if anything breaks! :D

nice!

i got confused in the beginning, because i thought you want my BTS password. i know most of customers are stupid, so maybe you should explicid state "don't use your Bitshares account password"

Ah, this is a good point, I changed it to say "Set your Cryptofresh password", hope that helps clear it up!

Oh .. @roadscape I reduced the custom fee (as you are not the only one wanting to use it) and hope that the committee members will approve it ..

Much appreciated, @xeroc.. thanks! I understand it may be a good idea to raise this fee, but in the meantime it encourages experimentation with a very interesting feature :)
