General Discussion / Re: Stan and Dan Great Leaders
« on: October 24, 2014, 02:02:08 pm »
They always speak clearly and honestly about the options.

People were upset when they moved away from mining: Now it is common sense!

People were upset when they introduced AGS: Now ICO's are common sense!

People were upset when they introduced DPoS: Now it is our best chance to survive!

People were upset that bitUSD was an experiment: They made it work!

Now people are upset at merger and share issuance, so is this time different? I don't think so; if you watch closely veterans of all stripes on this forum seem to agree with the proposal.

1) Where can I see the web wallet online ?
2) Would it be a good idea to transcript and translate the transcripts in order to subtitle key videos in youtube ? Is someone in charge for this ?

BM gave extremely good reasons to justify the merge : he argued that it was a necessity for the long term survival of our ecosystem, and I'm quite convinced he is right. I lost a bitcoin worth of DNS (a penny in the ocean, but it's still a fifth of my paycheck), but I don't mind provided that BTS go to the moon. And I'm convinced that BTS have more change to go to the moon than BTSX+DNS+VOTE had.

Most people have heard of Bitcoin in France, and numerous Bitcoin start-ups popped up. Some altcoins are known too, but of the few crypto enthousiasts I've met, none looked into bitshares.

I am clearly not a marketing guy, but I'd love to help, however little I can, to spread bitshares in France.

I don't know what is the marketing plan, and I wonder if markets in new countries are targeted, but simply translating and giving access to the key information seems an easy way to get more supporters at a very low cost.

http://bitshares-x.info/ is available in German and in Dutch. I could do some translation job. Is someone charged of translations ? (and is it even a good idea ?)

Besides translating, what are the first steps to give bitshares some visibility in a new country ?

The allocation may be unfair, however I don't really get why some big Chinese investors are ready to sell so low right now : don't they believe in future high prices for BTS ? Even if one feels robbed by the allocation, BTS still have the potential to go to the moon, and even more after the merge.

Just my 2 cents, but I just LOVE how BM shares his thoughts. I don't give a damn about "professionals". Following advices on this forum, I have read the book "zero to one", loved it, and I now definitively see bytemaster as one of those guys that has the guts to change the world, to impose his vision. His candid "PR naivety" is not a default : it is what make people loyal to him, it is what gives me more and more confidence in BTSX the more I learn about it and the more I get to know our leading team through this forum.

"Professionals" follow the rules that worked before, the rules of the past. Here, the future is being built, the rules of the past may not apply. The cryptoworld is such that we probably don't have time to reach a better consensus. How many great leaders didn't give a damn and just moved on towards their vision ? It seems to me that the Jobs, Zuckerberg and Musk's of this world don't really care about PR.
When Elon Musk admits Tesla is overvalued : http://money.cnn.com/2013/10/25/investing/tesla-netflix-momentum-stocks/, how cool is that ?

I'm now all in in bitshares, thank you for sharing all your thoughts BM, that way we really feel like we're part of the adventure.

2 year vesting period... ie: you can withdraw early for a fraction of your cut.. if you want to sell after 6 months you get 25%... if you wait for a year you get 50%... etc.

Please, for the love of God, realize this is wrong on so many levels.

If someone sells the vested 25% after 6 months, they should still be able to sell the other 75% when they vest.

Just make it gradually vest 1% per week, regardless of what is sold. How hard is that?!?

You just have to check the time stamp v.s. the original balance to see how much balance is currently available.

New poll ? I guess we can have >80% agreement on that...

Muse/SoundDAC / Re: Will Music be merged into BTS?
« on: October 22, 2014, 08:36:23 am »
The new big DAC-OS is a kind of centralization... same delegates, etc. I like it as a BTSX upgrade, but I really wish the music DAC stays independent. I would hate it if the money I sent to music AGS is just buying me more BTS under conditions I have no control on whatsoever...

Guys,

There is lot of games (i.e. Game Theory) going on here. Arguments are not the only card in this game. It is impossible to resolve it by democratic means.

On the other hand B.M has its Vision having hard time to draw picture for all. Although I disapprove with pragmatic nature of his deciding this is probably territory from where his genius come from.

Bottom line is: Do we trust this guy or not?

I say Yes and going to act accordingly.
Good Luck

I love how BM has the balls to impose his vision. I hate how our fate is not in our hands : it's just true that the promises are not kept. I hate the fact that many people here will lose money (I lost 1 BTC in DNS today, I feel bad for those who put more in it) just because of what BM says.

I have no better choice that trusting him also. Good luck indeed

I hope music won't be included in the superDAC.

He justifies himself quite convincingly : he always has the same audience at these conferences, the value of going to more and more of them diminishes, and his time is better spent elsewhere.

It was also discussed that those kind of events would be a great way for delegates to communicate, they could fund a team to atteend at such events.

General Discussion / Re: Proposal to Resolve a Million Issues at Once

After listening to the last dev hangout and the mumble, I definitely like the new proposal. This multi-DAC thing is insanely exciting to me. Getting rid of POW and clarifying the product is perfect. The only problem is that the end of AGS/PTS will be unfair to somebody, but the positive effects should be worth the pain.

It's true that the wallet is extremely awkward. My orders on the BitBTC/BTSX market are refused most of the time ("insufficient funds"), announced lowest ask & bid are always wrong (in my case). It doesn't feel like it actually works.
