Bonjour djinou

« on: October 10, 2014, 08:09:02 am »

J'aimerais me tourner vers l'entreprenariat après.

And it seems to me that in the cryptoworld, people are very ready to change : the network effect is clearly not the same as for IRL objects. You can't change your samsung into an Iphone, so once you bought it, you're fucked. It's not the same at all for cryptos. People have no reason to be faithful.

I think you are underestimating the extent to which people treat their choice of crypto as a religion.   For most bitcoiners, bitcoin is the way, the truth, and the light, and everything else is a shitcoin scam.

Network effect and being first matters.

For this reason, I think the bitshares marketing plan to market to and onboard new people who ARENT currently interested in any crypto is an excellent one!  If they can successfully get a lot of new people who currently know nothing about crypto to look at and use bitUSD and buy BTSX, then we will be in great shape!

As far as I have seen, and I'm not into the cryptoworld from long so I've not seen much, the ONLY thing that matters is "marketcap going up". For this, bitcoin is more or less screwed, and even the integrists will finally flock if BTSX is on a steady up.

A bug-free and user friendly GUI is what we need now, and well targeted marketing to convince bitcoin agnostics is what is planed. And it's not true that the dev team promises riskless benefits... we've been warned enough times that many things may screw up. What seems true and what is promised is that BTSX/DPOS is the superior technology, and it cannot lose on the long term against POW, because money.

For the moment, IMO the bad atmosphere here doesn't help, it might scare new users that would see those conversations.

Network effect doesn't happen in days. It happens in months or even years, and the bitshares marketing plan will happen in this timeframe.

And it seems to me that in the cryptoworld, people are very ready to change : the network effect is clearly not the same as for IRL objects. You can't change your samsung into an Iphone, so once you bought it, you're fucked. It's not the same at all for cryptos. People have no reason to be faithful. Owning bitcoins is clearly not as engaging as owning shares : you can transfer all your bitcoins into bitshares overnight, and you will have no awkward social interaction with a banker that will claim he has always been asking for your best interest.

Money flow free in the new world that is built here, and I bet that it will pour to the best solution.

It's crazy how so many people here have no patience at all. If you believe in the superiority of bitshares technology, why the hell are you losing your mind over nubits or overstock ? They won't reach billions overnight.

The marketing plan sketched in the dev hangout seems brilliant. We've been told countless times that we need to wait for 1.0 + direct buy from USD.

Why are you so in such a hurry ? Nubits promoters themselves know and say that one day nubits will be worth 0$. If people flock to the bandwagon, it will just hinder bitUSD until the first big crisis. It's condemned to death. Regarding bitshares, the devs are devoted to making a great product, the marketing plan is mouth watering, and in a year or two BTSX may change history. Can't we just sit back and relax ?

For the moment, the only thing bitshares destroyed is my real life productivity. I compulsively read all the stuff out there and try to figure out if really this will happen. Coming from a non business oriented background at all (I'm french, never had any economy course, and have been a ignorant/arrogant leftist for most of my life), I have so much to learn.

If I could be intimately convinced that *all this* (the trillion thing) will really happen if enough energy is invested in it, then I should spend all my waking time helping making it happen. I have been convinced by the form : everything seems to make sense.

But I would have to be able to reinvent the whole system from nothing myself in order to be 100% convinced that it WILL happen.

Some of you are at this level of understanding, and I wonder how you can even sleep :D

So, do you guys believe that everybody presently on this forum is a future millionaire/billionaire ? My mind cannot compute that.

If really trillions are on the table, the real world is full of really bad shit (murder/violence). Delegates will have to watch their asses.

I'm currently 60% bitshares, I feel like going 90% bitshares 10% BTC, but if cryptocurrencies in general gain much attention, I guess that bitcoin will go up first, and this next bitcoin peak will be the ideal moment to buy vast amounts of bitshares. Is that wrong ?

(Nobody is keeping some NXT, just in case ?)

I posted this elsewhere but it applied to this comment as well:

This was my logic as well! I went 100% BitShares when I realized any last bitcoin pump would affect BitShares X as well. Look at some of the alts on coinmarketcap at the time of the last bubble. All the alts which were considered "top 2.0 contenders" experienced larger growth relative to bitcoin. If bitcoin gets pumped 5x its current price, BitShares X will go up 8x.

In my opinion, bitcoins bubble cycles are over with. The next massive "bubble" will occur within an alt and I'm confident BitShares X is in the running for just that. :)

Thank you, for the last bubble alt coins performances, that's very encouraging indeed :). I'm too scared to go all in right now, but I can't keep myself changing my BTC into bitshares anytime the price goes down, and I've promised myself not to sell any BTSX, so I'll end up all in !

Are bitshares vulnerable to denial-of-service attacks ? Can spammers inflate the blockchain so much it becomes inusable ? If I create huge loads of trollshares and want to spam them around, are fees enough to stop me ?

Hi, you need the Golden Goose. The Golden Goose is Protoshares-PTS which will give you shares in all DACs after the moment you bought them. But I don't know how the price will be in the next weeks.

Sorry that I cannot answer your questions. I have the same questions. Right now I try to make a profit by buying and shorting BitUSD and BTSX and others. I think it takes only 4 more weeks and I play this game like a boss hehe.

Yeah, I'll get some PTS, it seems a great investment too, I love the possibilities offered by DACs :). This must become huge ! But at the moment I'm more impatient to trade bitAssets (for now I don't understand dollar fluctuations and don't want to lose my bitshares in that game :D)

I went (am still sometimes going) through this phase.

Try to spend as much of this time as you can on learning instead of hitting reload on coinmarketcap.

The best approach is just to stockpile as much BTS (and other cryptos) as possible without trying to trade. Trying to trade is a good way to fuck yourself. Just hold long no matter what the market does.

Saddly the reload button on coinmarketcap has been way overused today also ! But yeah, I promised myself to obey the simple rule "don't sell any BTS".

Hello !

So, I've got a scientific background, and I'm a complete noob to the world of finance. Last week I became quite obsessed with cryptocurrencies, discovered trading places, bought some bitcoins, then some bitshares. I believe in it, so I want to invest. But now I find myself losing so much time following market prices, waiting for ludicrous opportunities like buying at 0.000072 on Bter while selling at 0.000073 on poloniex at the same time. That's not investing, that's time burning. But it's so addictive, and it's so hard to completely ignore market fluctuations and just wait for long term gains.

So, my stupid question :
What is the best way to spend(or rather, invest) one's time in the trading world ? Should I just buy all bitshares I can afford right now at market prices, stop worrying about fluctuations, and learn more about the core of bitshares (by exploring the github repository, for example) ?
