Why would the Euro go?
If anything it should strengthen with the whole Greece thing happening.

General Discussion / Re: Massive Buy Order on the DEX for bitUSD

Ya I've been wondering about this order.
Its bid has been changing right?

Create a bitasset that can only be created by placing one BitUSD in collateral.
No margin calls are possible because the maximum outcome is 1 USD and the min outcome is 0 USD.

At the end of the match, the issuer will trigger a "black swan" at a price of either 1 or 0 USD.    If you win you get $1 if you lose you get 0.

If you buy at $0.1 and win, then you get a 10x return.    If you buy at $0.50 and win you get a 2x return.  If you buy at $0.90 and win you get a 11% return.    Likewise, if you sell at $0.1 and it goes to 0 then you make $0.1.
This is very neat
I think it speaks well to the flexibility of a system that follows few strict rules which provide the boundaries a potential-well of innovation.

Once people are in agreement of a few ground rules they are free to cooperate and collaborate as they see fit, likely supported by profits gained from serving public need
Ooooh okay

But doesnt that mean that there is a much higher incentive to buy in an opposite 'user issued asset' than to short if you know a team is going to loose.

The way I understand it, is that if you know a team is going to loose and you take out a short position you can double your money. But if you buy a user issued asset betting that the other team is going to win you could make a lot more than 2X.

So shorters would never sell below $0.5, right? and the most anyone can do is double their money?

Let me know if this is already discussed somewhere else.

So lets say I want to host a betting game for the next soccer match with Arsenal vs Man united.

So I issue a market pegged asset called 'Ars vs ManU'
I then function as the delegate and produce a price feed according to the outcome of the game.

I can allow people to bet that ManU will win or loose.
People can go long if they think ManU will win and Short if they think ManU will loose.
So if I price the asset at 1bitUSD to 1gameCoin. If the score is '1Ars : ManU 2' and ManU has won the match. I would change the price feed to 2bitUSD to 1gameCoin. So those who went long double their money. Vice-verse if ManU looses.

Have I got the basic idea or am I missing it.

When signing up for an account on CCEDK it says:
"two factory authentification."

I am sure it supposed to be "two factor authentication" right?

The spelling initially made me think I had hit a phishing site. Please change if incorrect.

Also there are many sites out there pretending to be bitcoin exchanges and they have many spelling mistakes.

Awesome stuff. We are integrating with the tangible world.

A few questions I had from reading the press release.

"Yield. You can earn better yields with less risk than any place else in the world."

Where is this yield coming from. I thought yield would be removed in 2.0.

"Acceptance. You can spend your money instantly, anywhere major debit cards are accepted. We handle the conversions for you."

Did you say anywhere? would that not incure fees higher than that of a using a normal credit card.

Would you be able to credit these cards in the same way you can credit a normal credit card?

I see a lot of positive in the new ideas for moving forward.
I'm very excited to start using 2.0.
I believe it will allow for increased adoption.

If we get greater adoption and price rises, well then Bitshares blockchain could start affording to hire the core developers full time. Thus adding more value causing share price to rise and freeing up even more funds to add more value. SNOWBALL!

Something I have noticed is that a lot of people don't have any idea what "decentralized" really means or how it should operate. They seem to have some fanciful ideas that aren't based in social or economic realism and often seek to arbitrarily restrict certain parameters based on lack of true understanding about their nature. They go around projecting their limited understanding onto the world "outside", and end up either making a fool of themselves, or more often catalyzing others (who are equally unsure) towards greater chaos and confusion.

For people who truly understand the situation and aren't blinded by greed or self interest, the actions of Cryptonomix are only reinforcing something we already know. I had no problem with the original Cryptonomex proposal, hell I didn't even really object to the November merger, but no doubt I will be accused of being a blind and "uncritical" fanboy.

I would like to encourage everyone to consider that none of us "deserve" or are "entitled" to anything from our devs. Really, the only thing any of us "deserve" is the right to be compensated for our efforts. In BitShares history, they have never taken any of our money and explicitly offered something in return. Yet, once again they are now demonstrating a willingness to sacrifice their own time and energy (releasing all coding up to June 1st into public domain) for the greater good of the ecosystem. Are we ready to recognize that they, like the rest of us, have the right to be compensated for their labor?

This all makes perfect sense for sustainable development going forward.

I think the going solo feels a bit scary for some. We just need to keep reassuring the community and ensuring they understand the concepts.

Cant wait for Bitshares 2.0 launch.
